What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
I find myself thinking about this through out the day
A great show, funny and great entertainment an easy watch. And the theme songs plays rent free in my mind love this series so much.
I love the guest appearances throughout, but this has some amazing regulars the casting is perfect and I love every character.
I especially love Phil what a great twist on vampires we all know a few Phil's in our life's and this is great entertainment.
Gulliermo is very funny and a great actor and Nadja is amazing, such great dry humour.
I wish this was more popular as it just amazing and just a great watch to out in without being too complicated so late night tv this is the one.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
I am tired of waiting
This contains spoilers
Yes I am tired! Tired of waiting for answers, of what is going on! The movie makes us question ! But at the end of the movie we don't really have any answers, only theories.
The movie is poetic in a way. Rosie spends the whole movie tired of waiting to find out what happens to Ross and Racheal from friends and now we will be left waiting, hopefully there is a number two to save us from all of our questions, as the movie has much promise but never really gets to the punch line or even the dramatic middle.
To me it was a very long beginning with some amazing cast but without a middle and end it will never be satisfying.
Also the Bad CGI animals at times looked obvious hopefully there is a better budget for next time.
But overall good watch, great cast. Interesting, different. Great directing but left me unsatisfied with the ending.
Never Let Me Go (2010)
It's ruined my night in the best of ways
I am late to the party on this one , I have just finished and I am still sad , I am left still thinking of the storyline.
Great performance by all involved.
Andrew Garfield is one of my favourite underrated actors and even though his lines are small , he delivers in just his facial expressions.
Please Note this is not a lighthearted watch , bring tissues and be prepared to wonder about greater issues.
Amazing movie overall , even though it's similar to another movie out there , it is done better. Tonight I will most likely cry thinking of this movie and will recommend this to many. Well done to all involved.
Women Talking (2022)
Important subject , but could have been done better
The storyline is an important one, in todays world "cults" like this exist, normally hiding behind religion and a promise of salvation, but with true intentions of power and abuse.
The subject of this film matters greatly . The acting was good and I genuinely enjoyed the dialogue, However so much could have made this film better.
I would have enjoyed the first half of the movie to show us the colony with the men and have a visual representation of how they are mistreated.
After all visual speaks louder then dialogue sometimes.
And I definitely wanted a better ending, how do the men feel returning to an empty colony? With no more women to control and abuse, would we see a glimpse of regret ?
I understand this film is based off of a book and it's doing something different with it's all dialogue style, but I guess I am not a huge fan.
I will however take my hat off to the writers with little visual they did well keeping an interesting dialogue going throughout.
You People (2023)
Boring
I had to turn this off half way through as it was boring, I love the cast, and was excited to see Eddie. I really expected a funny movie with a sweet ending about togetherness.
Instead we got a movie about white v black, to take two of the most historically miss treated people black & Jews and have them all so narrow minded and unaccepting is ridiculous.
Eddies character was scene as extreme even hating on light skinned people of colour.
And everyone in the white family was scene as total Morans or that they didn't even know how to act socially (besides the sister) Johan was even acting weird at the parents meeting dispute moaning at his mum for the same reasons just moments earlier in the movie 😅
This is just an infuriating movie, a movie can have a message but still be funny.
However the only message this movie gave me is that the Holocaust doesn't matter , despite the recent racism towards Jewish students , white people will always say racist things and black people will hate white people no matter what, this is not a productive movie at all it's a boring hateful movie that reaches & puts people in boxes.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Worth seeing in cinema 4dx 3D
Beautiful movie with stunning visuals, it was amazing watching it in 4dx 3D a real experience, some very sad and touching moments! I wish the "bad guy" changed for the better because of his son and the beauty of the land, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I think the movie was a bit too long and could have been 30mins shorter but overall great movie, with the same great message about human greed and the lack of respect for sentient creatures. It's worth a watch for the whole family though, but make sure to see in cinema and do so in 4dx 3D the water effects with the bubbles are a real treat for kids.
Pinocchio (2022)
Might aswell rewatch the animated movie
Like the live action lion king, this movie doesn't defer far from its original. My children enjoyed it but for me it lacked something. I cannot fault Tom hanks but I would have preferred for this to have been more realistic and I didn't enjoy the whale swap.
Further more I did not enjoy any of the songs, they didn't sound catchy at all so this was the movies biggest let down.
I did enjoy some of the humour and I can not say it was not entertaining, just that it wasn't exciting enough to make me want to see it again.
Lastly I did not see the point of the puppet girl, it didn't really add much to the movie and we didn't even get to find out what happened to her leg, yes it was sweet but it did feel like they just added her in to say they changed something about the storyline.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
The bad reviews are harsh
Enjoyed this movie, funny, enjoyable and a good family movie! Is it a smart movie no but it's enjoyable and entertaining! I think many of the low reviews are from geeks too invested in the comics. I thought from the reviews that I would be left bored instead I laughed a lot, clearly from the last thor movie they realised funny was a good go to so People complaining it's too funny are abit silly! Who doesn't like to laugh ?? Plus I loved seeing Natalie Portman again, love her and loved Christian bale as a villain 👏 plus thor back buff is a win. So ignore the low reviews! This is not boring nor a b rated movie. Just enjoy it and think of it as a fun movie.
Into the Deep (2022)
Pretty blah
Jess was the most annoying character in this movie, she was daring enough to approach a stranger, invite him to party and get on his boat. But then looked nervous and scared, sleepishly looking away, and then flipping back to making Google eyes at him and kissing him. The character was a mess and far too trusting which is infuriating. The plot line was pretty predictable, I watched until the end as it had just enough to want me to see what happened, I did hope for a bigger plot or even background info, but no however the main male character was good looking kind of a let down he was a creep, but I still rate 4 because it's a good lesson to young girls, don't trust strangers just because they are attractive! It is not the worst but definitely not the best I've scene.
Spontaneous (2020)
Disappointing
I enjoyed the start of this movie it had promise and the storyline seemed different and interesting, I was very intrigued to find out why the kids exploded! I was expecting a really interesting plot twist or something! But this movie never gave one neither did it give a single laugh or tear, I was uninterested in the characters and was very annoyed and irritated by the main character be-time the end of the movie! If this movie was trying to give a great meaning then they could have done that and still been interesting, this movie dragged out and I felt pretty annoyed that a wasted my night for nothing.
Persuasion (2022)
Modern twist and an enjoyable watch
I enjoyed this film! Yes! It was not true to its origin book but it was modern and fun. I enjoyed watching this as a stand alone film loosely based on the book. I am giving this a high score because the 1s are extremely unfair! The acting was good, the storyline and it was a easy and enjoyable watch.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Most original well thought out movie
So original, quirky, weird, funny and emotional! The storytellers brain must be so unique to imagine this up! It was a joy to watch at every moment! Great acting from the cast also! Would love more original pieces like this.
Nocturnal Animals (2016)
Deeper meaning is controversial
Good story and a very different watch, the movie is however hard to watch in some scenes.
I believe the story within the story is a metaphor for how Jake Gyllenhaal felt when Amy Addams character had an abortion and left him. Comparing rape and murder to abortion is pretty controversial and maybe offensive to some.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Amazing
Loved this! It was so much better then the first.
It was funny, Action packed and Gruesome.
It was cast really well and every Character was likeable.
The story felt fresh it's something we haven't scene before and I loved all the quirky characters.
White House Farm (2020)
Gripping crime drama
I really enjoyed this series! Extremely upsetting series based on real events. Great acting and done at a good pace.
Some people are saying this is a biased series,
Let it be clear this is a closed case that has been investigated a number of times over the course of 35years !
As for the so called phone the dad made to the police call this is not a proven piece of evidence.
Every appeal Jeremy has tried to bring up has been refused.
The evidence against Jeremy is huge and many close friends and relatives believe he is guilty as he was charged!
It's shocking "bambis" name was brought down and every detail of her life brought to light and still Jeremy a Narcissist won't admit to the killings!
This is what a narcissist does and people who still believe him are ridiculous.
Rated this down one star as I agree it should have been a 3 part series not six.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Some brilliant scenes that added to the overall storyline
I really enjoyed this version, it was a massive improvement to the original movie with better back stories, fight scenes and explanations that better added to the storyline.
I liked that movie set up for potential other movies within the dc universe.
Some scenes like that of cyborgs back stories really added a kind and giving personality to the character not previously scene.
And the flash back to the original fight against darkseid was also done very well. Bravo
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
Great series from two main characters perspectives
As a young mum with a teen daughter I loved that this show, showed the perspective from both mother and daughter. Instead of being another high school series it showed that both mum and daughter had separate life's with a lot going on, despite this show making great points about racism, feminism, self harm etc somehow one off the cuff joke about Taylor swift who herself is very privileged has earned this well written, entertaining show bad reviews.
It seems Taylor swift fans have even racially attacked the main actress for this which is extremely sad.
Despite that watch the show it is very good.
The Stand (2020)
Very entertaining! People giving it low ratings clearly haven't watched past episode one!
I love this program, the acting is good and there is many characters that you fall in love with as the show goes along! I have not really scene a show like this and it's definitely one to binge watch! The beginning reminds me of current events with covid but on steroids and makes me realise the possibility the future could hold if a virus gets out of hand! The show progresses to a story with good and evil and is both wacky and entertaining. I particularly enjoy the portrayal of the dark man, I have just watched episode 8 and can honestly say the show has only got better with each episode. As a series junkie I have scene about everything there is and this has been refreshingly unique! It is a mini series with only eight episodes so is doable on a current lazy lockdown weekend.
The Witcher (2019)
Binged watched need more
What a great show!! I am not familiar with the Witcher books or games so I came into this show unsure of what it was about but I am glad I decided to watch it. This is not a lighthearted programme to watch while scrolling on your phone it requires full attention to navigate through the different characters and storylines much like other popular shows. First of Henry wow what a fantastic job he did bringing this character to life he show cases his acting talents amazingly as did a few other characters. The special effects , fight scenes and scenery was just amazing this is a high budget show and it pays off well! I couldn't really compare this show to anything else it's very unique in its own right but I would say it has maybe some got, lord of the rings and maybe Harry Potter mixed with some Greek mythology vibes (see its very hard to compare) my advice would be watch the first few episodes with patience and attention it keeps getting better and all come together by the end! And my only negative would be that I now have to wait so long for the next season I need more.
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
Enjoyed this "based" on a book movie
I enjoyed this movie, great acting ,good storyline and emotional movie that touches on some real issues facing the time period! This movie states it's based on a book about the real life queens , yes it's not 100 per cent factual but it's not a documentary the film makers have to tweak the truth to make a more entertaining movie! I don't see any issue with casting people of different races anyone with half a brain cell knows this was not based on facts I think we should cast not based on colour or race but based on acting skills. The people reviewing this movie often state it's too pc but then contradict them self's by moaning about casting and accents. The reviews nearly put me off but I think they are mostly from people who hate anything "pc" or based on strong women.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Really enjoyed this movie! Did Stephan king proud
I enjoyed this movie very much! It stayed true to stephan kings uniquness.
This movie was ruthless, funny and at times jumpy.
If you are a fan of stephan kings brilliance then you will enjoy this do not exept a standard horror as that's not what stephan kings creations are about! enjoy the silliness and be prepared to laugh! Chapter 2 did not rush but instead covered everything tieing the ending up very well.
