Stargate: Atlantis: Trinity (2005)
Very good episode
Trinity has two plots, the main plot where SGA discover an Ancient Outpost with a power source that could render ZPM's obsolete, and a sub plot where Teyla travels off world to conduct a trade deal, accompanied by Ronnon who encounters other survivors of his people.
The main plot is the highlight. Rodney's character is tested in this episode, his endless pursuit of knowledge, accompanied by his cockiness to prove himself correct eventually leads him to believe that he can do right where the ancients were wrong. He asks Sheppard to place his trust in him (something he's never done before).
I think this is pretty interesting because we get to see a scenario where Rodney is wrong for once, the test goes badly and the solar system is destroyed. I think his failure this time really humbled him, not only because he risked the life of his friend (and destroyed a solar system), but also because the trust he asked of Sheppard was misplaced.
I dont know why the other reviewers dislike Rodney so much. He can be insensitive at times, and his arrogance ends up harming himself and those around him, but he clearly cares about the people around him. Furthermore, his devotion to his work is not just his arrogance, but also stems from that same desire to better the lives of his people. Just because he's a flawed character doesn't mean he's a badly written one.
The sub plot is also good considering how much time was given to it, we get to learn more about Ronon's past and his moral compass, he's clearly fine with taking justice into his own hands, even if it means exploiting Teyla's trust, something that Teyla did not appreciate, even if she agrees with the initial sentiment of revenge.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #3.9 (2018)
Unmatched
After finishing the show, I have come back to review this episode because it's still the greatest episode in the show, completely unmatched.
A culmination of the entire arc between Alfred and Uhtred, every grievance, every offense, every bonding and every time they've helped each other was completely felt in the dialogue between them. Each and every word was filled with overarching ideas of their legacies, Alfred's dream of england (and uhtreds role in itt), and lastly, alfred apologizing before it's too late. It was extremely cathartic, truly peak writing.
The acting from both was great as well, in particular Alfred's actor, this was almost certainly the peformance of his carreer.
Stargate SG-1: The Changeling (2003)
Well done
Very well done exposition throughout the entire episode, tealc's character is once again pushed to the brim. Also, whenever ascended Daniel Jackson shows up, the episode turns out great, hopefully this trend continues.
The Last Kingdom: Episode #5.9 (2022)
Decent episode all things considered
Lady Aelswith manages to convince her son, King Edward to follow Uhtred's counsel as his father Alfred and his sister Aethelred has. It showed how much aelswith has changed as a person (believing the words of a "dane" like uhtred), and demonstrates how despite Edward is sometimes headstrong, he still values the counsel of the people under him, and is willing to admit that he's wrong.
This infiltration of bebbanburg plan did not seem that realistic, but the real issue is why did Haesten grab Aelfwynn like that? Why would he say that he's friends with her true father? That is the one thing he could say to screw him over, why not just say that he is friends with King Edward and Lord Uhtred and they are working together to rescue her, that Uhtred is also here.
There is some recompense in this though, when Haesten is confronted by the scottish king as to his real intentions, Haesten does not reveal he was here with anyone, showing that he's changed from his more selfish ways as he did not rat out the nun he was with. But even then, the scottish king must be a fool to think that the nun didn't play a part in this.
All in all, a decent episode, worse than the previous ones but still enjoyable.
