Midway (2019)
So poorly made, low quality Virtual Reality
One should think that in the 21st century Virtiual Reality should be flawless. In an era where every high school student is able to produce a lifelike deep-fake video. Or where you are astonished when you watch Harry Potter for the first time. Watching "Midway" 2019 seems like watching a arcade-game from the late 90's. It seems a lot like VR is not used to impress the audience but is only a mean to keep production costs as low as possible. If you pay your video-artists and post-production team peanuts, the job will be executed by monkeys. To mask this poorness the live acted scenes are shot in a poor VR set or ruined by poor coloration. Or.. is it done on purpose? Intentionally so that a yong audience can see this historical event in a for them familiar environment that they know from their Playstation, Xboxes and Nintendo's? No real special effects but poorly computer-animated explosions. It seems like it is trending in contemporary war movies. VR was also bad in Dunkirk and in movies like Fly Boys. I was so distracted by this poor VR that I couldn't focus on storyline, acting, music, editing or dialogues maybe this is all right? So the benefit of the doubt: 4/10.
Death in Paradise (2011)
A bit of a shock.
When I realized what the the essential theme of the series is I was shocked.
A police-team up to six members, that not only has African roots but also are French, in every episode are incapable of solving a murder-case. Iconic is the character of the fatty French black commissioner who does absolutely nothing except fixing a job for his niece.
And then the supreme white English detective that lives on the island solves the case by a sheer Godlike deduction and intelligence.
It's time to reconsider if this series should be (re)broadcasted at all or at least a warning should be shown.
