Thar (2022)
This one is riveting
Tale of a small border village set in the 1980s. Anil Kapoor is the police officer investigating bizarre murders in the village, which is not used to this kind of crimes. Film keeps the audience glued with a mix of drug trafficking and murders that seem to be connected.
Anil Kapoor is in his usual brilliant performance even at his age...Harshwardhan, not so much. His face is mostly expression less, and no..not becuase of the character he plays. You start realizing this as the movie progresses, and his acting just does not leave a mark.
Overall this is a good watch.
The House (2022)
Stars only for the animation part
Seriously...horror?
This is a kind of movie that sometimes make you question your own judgment. Why did i waste my time watching this?
There is no connection whatsoever between the 3 stories...and these stories aren't that intresting either. Its a collection of random thoughts ...like a 6 year olds school drawing project.
83 (2021)
Went for something else, came back with a big disappointment
Cant you just tell the tale, as it is? Yes this was a moment that turned out to be a game changer for Indian cricket. But story telling is important.
First off...that fake wig...2nd, wokeness, really? Army wanted to listen to the commentary during an actual combat? AND, Pakistani army 'supports' them?
Whatever happened to the players individual stories, their struggle, their families. There was so much material guys! Expected better.
Sardar Udham (2021)
Where is this movie going? Coherence anyone?
How to ruin a beautiful story in 2+hrs....that should've been the topic.
This is an excellent story....but this movie does not do any justice to it....it just sways from one scene to other.
I just lost my patience midway...and continued only because I wanted to see the end.
And yep, I was rite...even in the end it just goes from scene to scene...all shot in dark background. In the end just felt like they ruined the story with this film....
The attempt to make a non dramatic story is appreciated...but it still does not make up for cut scenes over and over again.
Just read the story...don't watch this or show it to your kids...even an interesting story like this will seem boring to the kids.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Leaves you craving for more
This is one of those series which Netflix gets rite. Short twisted tales with surprising climax.
Season 1 was AWESOME.....Season 2 ...well not much, but it is still worth watching. I read reviews that the season 2 was so good and I kindoff disagree. It leaves you just craving enough for more. Can't wait for season 3.
Mosul (2019)
Wonderful, exciting, end is beautiful
There need to be more stories coming from this side of the world. We need more stories from the ground and not from the lens of Western media. A tem of Iraqi SWAT, heads into a territory occupied by ISIS who are on the run.
The challenges they face, the scenes around, and the story makes it an excellent watch.
Away (2020)
Not really SciFi..but worth it
Ok, so I know this is an unpopular opinion....but I enjoyed it. I went in thinking it must be more of a docudrama kind of show. But no, it was an emotional drama with a backdrop of characters being in space. Yes, a few things like their constant personal phone calls from space are kind of going to far. But overall, after all that they go through and land on Mars...this series seems worth it. Do watch atleast the first episode before deciding. Not all reviews here do justice to the show.
Thugs of Hindostan (2018)
what the hell did i watch
Omg, i cant believe we watched this...why did they even make this?? You cannot sell patriotism combined with this nonsense
El aura (2005)
Great movie...worth your time
Yet another masterpiece by Ricardo Dari. Movie is about an epileptic taxidermist who goes with his friend on a hunting trip. He has always fantasized about committing a perfectly planned heist. Fate gives him a chance to execute one when he goes on a hunting trip. Once at the hunting grounds they are forced to stay in a isolated mansion with some very strange people. What follows is a turn of events that almost has him killed.
Ricardo, as usual presents the character with absolute perfection....one of my personal favorites is the part where he is about to get an epileptic attack and he "surrenders" to it. The way he acts is something only Ricardo can perform.
The end is somewhat disappointing though. But nevertheless this movie is something worth spending time on.
Relatos salvajes (2014)
You have to watch this movie
There are very few movies which keep you pinned to the screen rite from the first scene. This is one of those movies. The stories (short ones though) are so engrossing, you just cannot let it go. Complete with the acting, and the filming this movie is a masterpiece. There are short stories of people and their behavior in situations of extreme anger. The first story is about a group of passengers who slowly discover that they all have one thing in common. The second is about a small time restaurant owner, who is serving a man who happens to be the person who wrecked her family. The third is about two car owners and a case of road rage. Fourth, is about an engineer who is going home for his daughters birthday but his car gets towed by the towing company for "supposedly" wrong parking. The last one (My favorite) is about a wedding where the bride discovers her husbands secret and decides to exact revenge, but again love prevails (I'm not posting any spoilers...watch the movie). Give it a shot guys....
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
Stay at home, donate the ticket money for a good cause
Why do people even worry about creating such a movie? Apart from the great locations and glamorous looking artists what is there in this movie?
I feel I could have donated the money to some poor guy. So here's what it is
4 friends entangled in each other..feelings for other....could never express feelings....end up dead or disappointed.....that's the movie.
That's it..to add some extra's there is some real melodramatic acting from Fawad and Aish. I used to like Karan Johar movies but I am seriously re-considering my choices.
