Manifest (2018)
Trite, uninspired Drivel
I was almost ready to give up on this after the first few minutes, after the dreadfully written voice-over introduction. Twenty minutes in, I've had enough.
The script is absolutely awful, and seems to have been written by someone who has no idea how people talk to each other, or respond to events/stimuli/others' comments.
The "voices in the head thing" is obviously a limited messaging system, and the second message (I won't be too specific, in case there are people who actually like trite, badly-written drivel), and the liberated things will obviously lead straight to the resolution of a sub-plot that was introduced about as subtly as an iron pipe upside the head.
The story idea is by no means as creative as some other reviewers have said, and the only resemblance to "Lost" is that it involves a passsenger plane.
The show's only saving grace is that you can, as I have, dump it and watch something else, without having to sit through an entire episode.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
Hardly any action, ridiculous storyline, cardboard cut-out charachters, and godawful music
I see that the wumaos are out in full force for this movie, trying to convince people that it's an action-packed, brilliant, realistic thrill-ride.
Unfortunately, it's not. There's very little (boring) action, it's about as brilliant as the bottom of a ten-year-old frying pan, and it's actually *less* realistic than Team America.
Perhaps if they'd spent more of their budget on the story and the script, rather than spending far too much of it on trying to pump up its IMDB score with fake votes and reviews, it could have been watchable.
And for the music, they could maybe have afforded a real composer, who knows how to write real music, rather than the amateurish dystopian-future sci-fi/horror flick "noises" (it sure ain't music!) that you're subjected to.
Don't be conned by the wumao chorus. Give it a miss.
Derry Girls (2018)
Plankies and other blasted colonials need not apply...
But this is #@%&* hilarious!
It's rare for any TV writing to surprise me with originality, and far rarer still for a "comedy" show to exhibit enough originality to catch me off guard, but this is a piece of abso-frecking-lute genius!
If you're from the UK of GB & NI, watch it; you'll laugh your @rse off.
If not, give it a try, and google lots. to try to get where these absolutely brilliant characterisations come from.
I'm actually jealous that someone else wrote this brilliant work!
