Chloe (2022)
The bio is the worst description of this show
So ignore it completely. Becky gets a call from an estranged friend and then finds out that friend has passed away. Puzzled by the call she decides to investigate a little further but becomes entangled in the same web that may have been the demise of "Chloe"
Troppo (2022)
Did any of the producers even visit FNQ?
I was super excited about this series because it's story is based in gorgeous Far North Queensland where I live. Even when I saw it had actually been made on the goldy 19hrs south of us (different climate, environment, cultures, people, ways of life) I still held hope that they'd do it and us as people justice. What I got was an opening scene where a boat croc tour (I'm guessing meant to be the Daintree river) was feeding a salty. Well... that's highly illegal in Queensland so... Then there were the characters. Unnecessarily obnoxious, rude and unfriendly - sort of how I see people who live on the Goldy. People up here are friendly, honest and transparent for the most part. Especially to other locals so tue depiction of the vet receptionist was confusing and unlike anyone I'd come across up here. Then there was the confusing scenes of tropical storms which we'd assume was the wet season but the characters are wearing wool suits, long pants in the day (you'd be asking for heat stroke!) The main character had a huge city chic vibe, someone you'd think you'd spot trying to look alternative in a Melbourne cafe. The characters weren't likeable or endearing for the most part but I think you could end up enjoying the main male lead. Apart from that it was a pretty basic script. I wonder if the book is any good?
The Morning Show: The Interview (2019)
The best ending to a season I've ever watched
I loved this show all the way through but I was completely left on the edge of my seat saying "oh my god!" To no audience because I was so impressed, moved and gob smacked at the ending. The final scene is perfect as well. A long slow shot of Mitch sitting alone at his big table in silence. What a perfect metaphor
Bikram: Yogi, Guru, Predator (2019)
Finally a doco exposing Bikram as the predator and criminal that he is
I was waiting in anticipation for this documentary as someone who has been aware of the allegations made against Bikram for a few years now. As a yogi myself and someone who has been to Bikram yoga the documentary explores the benefits of his classes but also exposes the shady and disgusting and cult like way he made his empire. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of studios soon distance themselves from the Bikram brand and rebrand as simply "hot yoga". The documentary was impeccably put together and a must watch for any yogi
Modern Love (2019)
Sometimes you just need a raw and authentic pick me up
I was impressed by the long list of amazing actors featured in the cast but as we know that doesn't always mean it's going to be good! I was delighted at this series, it's raw, authentic and still leaves you with this beautiful warm feeling. The acting is great, the stories are wonderfully varied and I also enjoyed some of my favourites in there (Tina Fey being one) It's not so mushy that you don't see the ups and downs of love in each episode as well
