Sobering reality of her life
28 September 2022
Left me saddened. Marilyn Monroe died nine years before I was born in 1962.

I have over the past few years tried to watch her films and documentaries about her to try to grasp what everyone saw in her from her obvious beauty and sex appeal to her eventual downfall.

What I found out was she had a raw talent to sing and act, and could see why people were fascinated by her. But my god she also was exploited without any shadow of a doubt by the many people around her from her mother and the movie studio guy who allegedly raped her, among many others.

This film at nearly three hours in my humble opinion was far to long by forty five minutes or so and the screenplay definitely did not paint her in a good light from her miscarriages to three failed marriages, etc.

It all just left me saddened and mad at how this legendary young woman was used and then spat out till her fateful suicide, overdose or I believe was probly murdered in 1962.

Maybe is the time for everyone and HOLLYWOOD to let Marilyn(Norma Jean) Monroe to rest in peace after sixty long years.

Hard work
26 August 2022
Watched every season and got into it every season and every year, after a few episodes every time it went downhill fast. By the end of seasons 2 and 3 it was so boring and I was giving up the will to live by end of series 3.

Literally at end of second last and last EVER episodes I was reading the reviews on here for more entertainment, than I was getting on this dire show. I GIVE it a star for each season no more.

The reviews are mostly negative and I concur with the jury.

P..s two points 1)Why get rid of Eden who was at least a decent character.

2)My god that mother was irritating beyond belief.

FOUR EPISODES TO LONGGGGGGG....
10 July 2022
My God utter boring dross what never picks up at any point.

Six friends!!!!! Please if I had been with this lot I would have threw myself off the nearest cliff in Malta. Some holiday.

Don't go anywhere near this or you will need anti-depressants by the end of it.

NOT one likeable person in it. Jill Halfpenny just doing what she does same accent!! Same acting style, no semblance of acting different for any roles. You can change you know. She ain't no Jodie Comer is she!!

DON'T BOTHER.

Warning: Spoilers
Started off OK. But you soon realise not ONE likable character the main character an alcoholic who sleeps with an old flame behind a pregnant woman's back. A total dispicable act in anyone's eyes. The there's the idiotic f.... '' up gay brother for the woke brigade. Won't go into the rest but let's just say they are all in need of a shrink. It's not funny or entertaining in any way.

8 film but gave it 6!!!
19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ruined by the over the top irritating character played by Martin Short. The film is charming throughout. The relationship between father and daughter explored as every father has gone through when in his eyes he's losing his little girl to another man.

In the end he's accepts his future son in law and their lives move on naturally as it should.

It started off well I enjoyed the first two or three episodes!! But by the end it became tedious! Mainly because the duration of the drama was way to long.

TBH you could have wrapped this all up in a 90 minute TV movie.

I originally gave it an 8 rating but the score went downwards as it unfolded it to an average 5.

The acting by the main two central characters was good, but agree with other reviewers the actress who played mallory was way to old for the part.

Awful
31 May 2021
I gave it 2 for Gene Hackman. The question is why did he agree to do this movie. Sharon Stone was horribly cast, her acting was beyond believeable. The plot was a mess. Please don't bother you will regret it if you like the Western genre.

It's NO Green card!!
3 December 2020
If you like Green card you probly love this but for me that movie was far superior in everyway. The acting is fine and I think Sophia Ellis will go onto bigger and better things. But il stick with green card over this everytime. Hence the 5 rating because I just think this was tryin to cash in on that great movie.

Boring
29 November 2020
Was thinking how short it seemed at start for their life stories, but much how I commend what they achieved in ice dance skating. They came across as two very dull people who in no way I could relate to. So 96 mins in duration felt like a lifetime. Do not bover unless you are big fans of the couple.

Downhill fast
30 October 2020
1)WHY change the victim from male to female. Would you now change Anthony Perkins in psycho just to get over with the millienals of course not. 2)The psycho lesbian didn't convince at all. 3)I'm not anti-gay just why change the cast main role gender?? if it enhances the film by all means do it, but in no way did it better the film. 4) After a reasonable start I was genuinely surprised with the cliff scene(no spoiler from me) it just went on a steep downward spiral from then on.

Why
26 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Started off okay, Dad gets sacked unfairly, needing the money!! so he goes off to fight forest fires for bad money. His wife wants to better herself so befriends and not long before she sleeps with the local car saleship owner twice her age, while their young son looks on shocked and bemused. That's it really just dull, boring and if this is meant to entertain or be art in some way it fails dismally. Waste of good actors.

Feelgood film
9 July 2020
A young musician who has failed in the music scene while playing the small time clubs around the UK until one Day the world is plunged into darkness for 12 seconds and while in darkness he rides is bike into the road and ends up being knocked over by a car, and when he wakes in hospital the world has never seen or heard of the beatles so he sees an opportunity to use the works of the band to propel him to superstardom. Yes sounds a bit Corny and stupid but if you like the beatles and their music I think you will like this film if not a fan there's enough to entertain you. Guest stars Ed Sheeran.

Overhyped
19 June 2020
I saw the trailer for this British drama set in Ibiza and when i saw that one of my favourite actors was in it Daniel Mays i was immediately looking forward to it but i am sorry to say i was very disappointed, because the story of a sister trying to find out what happened to her DJ brother twenty years earlier who died in a mysterious death failed dismally and that the in the main was down to two simple things, the plot is weak and to be honest not a realistic story, but mainly down to the acting skills of one Laura Haddock the woman just cannot act. It became so irritating when she spoke because the accent she was trying or attempting to do was it Scouse ?Manchester? or even brum? or was it just a collection of everything? but one thing thing for sure it was well distracting and I lay the blame at the casting and the directing departments who cast her and could not realise this!! There were also highlights as usual in the reliable Mays and the excellent Nuno lopes but overal this was major disappointment I am sorry to say, and if there is to be a second season surely correct and edit the Haddock character Zoe out of it.

Pathetic
16 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Well I saw the trailer and thought to myself now that looks scary!! The first thirty minutes were fine and I believed it was building up into a good film and hopefully a great finale. Oh dear how wrong can one person be. The decapitation of the young girl actually did happen, and why would they go through with it as it was obviously thing to do so why ? I fully expected it not to happen (wrong) and then it would deliver something actually surprising totally out of the blue and frighten the audience out of their seats. Those people saying this was pure art and gave it the full ten stars !! I obviously think they were smoking something Ilegal before they entered the cinema, I am sorry people this was not art !! this was just a shambles and before those critics will say I did not understand this movie, well unfortunately I did oh to well, and what it was attempting to deliver it failed dismally everytime, if it was trying to get the audience nervous in any way or even scared it failed every time because all I did was smile and laugh throughout every time it went for a quick fright. I am sadly beginning to think the horror genre is now on the verge of being dead for good ( I hope I am wrong) and i am afraid it may be going the same way as the good old westerns genre what also have had their day, and are now consigned to cinema past along with silent films. This latest attempt left most of the audience laughing that is definitely not what the director was going for and expecting. I know all the ones who have given the higher ratings will say to me and the many others who have hated this dismal movie, that we just do not understand it, well I obviously was not in on their joke ! But I hate to say sorry i was getting it and i got it now, because as one of viewers who is still laughing at what unfolded has it went on !! Finally I gave it its two stars because of the opening thirty minutes, after that it became a train wreck. Sorry for the spoilers at times in my review , but i am just trying to get my point across. I am still laughing at Toni Collette on the ceiling towards the end it was so pathetic. Please do not bother unless you fancy a good laugh and you are feeling down and suicidal.

Wasted opportunity
13 June 2020
A worthwhile story was being attempted to be told but for me in the end it was just done in a terribly boring way that I nearly left,I decided to stay mainly because I just like to finish everything I begin just in case it gets better as it goes on by through the storytelling and I just have not given the sufficient time required. I Love Tim Roth as actor( lie to me) but to be fair even he looked bored in this role at times. Like I said earlier it looked a good story(Trailer) to try to tell of a Polish boy, orphaned in the second world war and then taken in by an English family, after his Dad left him with them earlier just before Poland was invaded by Germany in1939, to continue the young boys obvious talent with the violin. During this time he began to bond with the son of the family (Roth)who he was adopted by more or less through circumstances of the war. A few years later he disappeared without trace just before his first concert just about to be hosted by is adopted father to premiere in front of an distinguished audience This left the father broke because he didn't feel he had to insure the concert and when the lad didn't show up to perform it left him financially ruined, after all this he was left heartbroken, and after a few short months he later died of a stroke. We then move forward 35 years in time where the story continues within the passages of time in several flashbacks. So in fairness I was just left a bit disappointed as I had no feelings or emotions for any of the characters at all, unlike so many other films of that era, so I'm afraid I gave this a (5)

Dating Amber (2020)
5/10
Worth a watch
9 June 2020
Two young teens growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1990's, Amber is a young girl who fancies girls who knows her sexuality, she just isn't ready to come out as a lesbian just yet, so she decides to date Eddie a boy who's knows he's gay and is going through the same dilemmas has she is so they decide to help each other out one Day. They come up with an elaborate plan to get through the stresses of high school by pretending to date each other to hopefully stop them getting abused for being gay has they have been experiencing it recently in school so they basically pretend they are not gay. I thought that would create a variety of funny moments but it just didn't deliver any, and to be honest the film wasnt trying to make jokes after the first twenty minutes, I just probly misunderstood the trailer, and as such the film was a worthy try at the subject matter of growing up gay. I thought this might be a cross between the Inbetweeners and the Derry girls when I first saw the advert, but that's why I was a little disappointed because in no way was it anything like those two comedy shows. Also this kind of story has also been done before, so it was not really a original concept,I certainly couldn't fault the acting from the two young lead actors and they will go on to better things in time. I would just wait for it to come on to tv and save your money or watch it on amazon prime video as its one of their original productions and of course it will find its market and the audience its aimed at and they will be more than happy with it.

Pleasantly surprised.
8 June 2020
The first chapter was good for the first ten minutes !! After half an hour it dropped away very quickly in my opinion to be a very boring film,so to be honest I did not expect much from chapter two either. So I was pleasantly surprised to love the first hour build up to chapter two. Don't get me wrong as an horror genre fan this is not scary at all, but it certainly is a much more entertaining watch than the first helping. It reminded me of a darker version of The goonies and that is by no means a bad thing. The humour was good as this was much needed at the long running time. As in the original IT films I think at nearly three hours long it was far to long in length. But overall not a bad movie and would recommend it even if you did not like the first one. The acting was fine from the cast as you would expect from A lister Jessica Chastin and the ever reliable James McAvoy.

Moonlight (I) (2016)
1/10
I tried, but it was just dull.
4 June 2020
I watched the whole thing to see if I would begin to like it and yes it explores the subject matters of poverty, growing up gay and the never ending drug problem we still have worldwide. Moonlight will never reach the audience it may want to reach because let's face it the mainstream audience will just not connect with this film. We all know now the general public all they want nowadays is action and the endless marvel movies, what is a massive shame because I think good drama is far more compelling than the over the top brainless unrealistic action films. Despite a very good performance from Danielle Harris as the main characters drug fuelled mother who was an horrible out of control, unreliable woman who you will despise mainly because of the things she did to her son. I just thought the story and dialogue never really went anywhere. Maybe many others will disagree, and they are rightly entitled to their opinions, but no one can tell me you will get moved by this film, maybe its just me because I just could not relate to story being from a small town in the UK. I know the problems are faced everyday in the UK and American cities regarding drugs etc. Do not get me wrong the movie is well acted ,well filmed and will get the recognition from the academy but to me and the main general public this will be just a complete borefest to them. I think there are have been more superior films been done this year including the excellent hacksaw ridge to name just one an incredible film full of bravery from a soldier doing acts beyond what is expected from anyone in the military and to me was far better movie to me. Moonlight, oscars best picture material of course yes, that's why it won!! because this type of film will always get the votes from the academy, but I believe the general public would mainly go for hacksaw ridge if they had straight choice between the two, and on me viewing both movies now I would say they would be right and definitely the wrong film won.
