The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Exceeding expectations!!
As any Last of us fan, I was skeptical about this show and the justice it would give it. However I always felt confident in those handling it, I had a strong gut feeling that the core material was in good hands and they would give it their own flare, yet stay true to the source material. This episode (3) wasn't what I expected but I absolutely loved it. They expanded on the story, exploring a whole new telling of two characters we knew little about, one of which we knew barely anything about other than him being Bills partner. People can complain and throw all the shade they want to, but with a game having roughly two and half hours of actual cutscenes; you need to expand. To go into the world of each character and expose their uniqueness and origins. The show gives this game that platform to give us a depth while staying true. This episode was beautifully acted, written and concluded on a major focal point in the game. Now comes Joel and Ellie's encounter with an ambush by raiders! Let the carnage begin !
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Failed to acknowledge the basics
This movie was not bad nor was it good. It produced nicely executed fight scenes and a surprising amount of gore. Yet it lacked all of the components that make MK unique and horror like: all of the dark tones, mystique and music, were virtually absent. I enjoyed this movie for what it offered but I can't shake the potential it faced. The plot could have been more directed towards it's origin without the new creative changes. It is an over saturated movie to say the least and doesn't deliver as it could. There is a clear indication that as of late, anything Warner Bros touches, they ruin. Anyone who revives this video game adaption needs to be more conscious about the unique tone and overall attitude. Mortal Kombat thrives off of it's unsettling nature and any director in the future needs to fully acknowledge just how powerful and important the small details are to its very existence!
21 & Over (2013)
Honestly I rewatched this 6 years later and enjoyed it so much more then the first time!
Yes this movie is silly and unrealistic. Yes this movie is a watered down version of a college "Hangover" movie. Yes this movie has flaws. But honestly it's not that bad and it's actually really funny when you're not expecting a breakthrough comedy. Break down the high expectations and admire the corny jokes throughout, it's the little things that's make it some what presentable. Don't be so serious, it's just a comedy even if it's not great. There have been far worse in the past!!!!
Between Me and My Mind (2019)
A beautiful intimate and personal documentary. Any Phish fan or Trey fan will truly appreciate this and the power behind it.
Going to see this documentary was on my mind for weeks when I saw announcements of it being In theaters. I can't express how much I admire Trey, Fish, Page and Gordo for their passion and drive in the music world. They really are the definition of hard work and persistence. This documentary has so much heart, many life lessons at its core and proof that every musician's life goes more deeper then you could imagine. Trey seems like he is all heart and it shows with his every interaction throughout this doc. I highly recommend that people see this if any opportunity rolls by. Beautiful from start to finish. Blaze on my phriends!
Far Cry 3 (2012)
All time favorite
Once in a blue moon, you get a game that captivates you from beginning to end, but not primarily because of the action and graphics. More so the powerful voice acting and plot that create the constant need to progress in the game. The need to explore a world that creates the ultimate thrill. Vas (Michael Mando) portrays one of my favorite video game characters ever. The script behind his character is top notch and the story follows so clean and smooth along side him and the other antagonists. I can't express how much this game interested me and I promise to anyone else out there who is also interested in playing this, please do; you will enjoy it greatly. After all the years this game has been out , I still find myself coming back to it, it'll never get old! Please give it a try and you'll see that the story and characters have such depth and power, you won't be disappointed!
Better Call Saul (2015)
Captivating show with excellent writing
Breaking Bad had fantastic stories throughout the 5 seasons and while it was action packed, the story is what made it thrive. The level of intensity and story telling was truly something special. Taking a look into Saul Goodman's past it really creates a new perspective In the Breaking Bad series. Looking at the legal system as well as the early beginnings of a fantastic criminal lawyer Saul is fun and beyond entertaining. If you like smart, good writing in a show, this is for you! Overall the show delivers an intelligent and creative look into a few characters in Breaking Bad series! I highly recommend!!
Doragon Bôru Sûpâ Burorî (2018)
Amazing reboot to the Broly story!
This movie has everything a true fan could want! Awesome action sequences and a detailed look at the life on planet Vegeta and how everything folded into place. I was really impressed by a lot of the action and effects, even though some outshined other parts, it just had the old school feel with a few touch ups. Really, really impressed with what this movie had to offer! Broly was an absolute beast and seeing Goku and Vegeta fight him was truly just bone chilling. I love it!!! Any fans of the series will really appreciate how they connected this movie into the story line! Seriously hope they make more movies and continue to impress! My only complaint is some graphical continuity problems, I want the effects and graphics to be more consistent!! Overall it's a must see!!!
Rocky IV (1985)
One of my favorite movies ever !!
As a kid I used to watch this movie endlessly with my friends and brothers. It always had an aspect that I found so powerful; having no pain. No matter what comes our way, you fight your way through the pain in life till the end. Apollo dies and Rocky has to fight for his vengeance. It was always so heartlfelt to me that Rocky fought for those he loved. He examplified the importance of having no pain and fighting for his true desire and love. I'll be the first to admit that this movie is pure fantasy but it was powerful to me. I also connected with Rocky's character and knew that he had flaws but yet he just never gave up and kept on punching.
Growing up, I picked up on cheesy parts but it still delivered the same chills and motivation as I got older. This movie has its faults but it's so meaningful and the action is near perfect. Literally the biggest problem to me now is Rocky barely blocks at all! If only he did, along with some tweaking, this movie would earn a well deserved 10/10. I wish they perfected the realistic side to it to make it even better and I say that with love. All in all, seriously a fantastic ride alongside one of my favorite actors.
