Railroad Alaska: Collision Course (2014)
Staged collision course
Even tho this is now 7 years old have just watched this EP on Discovery here in AU 🇦🇺 It is very heavily staged. The story where railroad workers discover a 4x4 abandoned on the main tracks, with a train approaching! They happen to have a front end loaded on a rail car and with "minutes before the train is due" roll the car off the track. A few minutes later the massive train rolls past and we are told a disaster has been averted. But, where did the rail workers track car and loaded go ? With only a single line of track they vanish ? Yes very staged like so many shows. Giving this a 2 / 10.
Street Outlaws: Memphis (2018)
MSO way downunder
Well I found myself in hospital last November (2020) and one of the channels played this and similar shows which I had not seen before. Now, Feb 2021 I am home and have this on pay TV and view it each day. Some may say big deal but this is an eye opener, the Deep South accents and the money these guys and girls spend is serious. The lack of law enforcement at the locations they race is suspect. I am sure there is some wound up trash talk but it's still fun to watch. Some of the other shows that focus of car restoration is good but cannot believe the number of people that don't wear seatbelts in cars that are fitted. Cheers from Sydney, AU 🇦🇺
The Walking Dead: A Certain Doom (2020)
Back to TWD
This being my first episode for the year after what I thought was a downward spiral in the story prior now. The shown today (and tonight) here in Sydney, AU. My first thought is I am going to have to get hold of the previous episodes of this series. Very happy and impressed with today's episode and looking forward to the addition episodes when they come out. The Walking Dead is back. Cheers.
Bad Education (2019)
Bag Education gets an Excellent
This has recently been released on FOXTEL here in Sydney, AU. What a refreshing and well played TV movie. Have been a "CJ" fan since the West Wing days and she gave us her best once again. The entire cast did a wonderful and convincing job, a worthy 9/10. Cheers.
Watchmen (2019)
Watch what ?
I had this preset and was looking forward to an excellent new series. By running on our Fox Showcase (AU) Which normally runs only the best or highest rating series. What have I wasted an hour on today. It just does not work, what is it that the producers / show runners want people to see here? I was going to rate a 2 but will try next weeks episode, but I feel this will be the last I here or see of the Watchmen. Very disappointed.
Miami Vice: Out Where the Buses Don't Run (1985)
The Vice episode
There are many 9/10 Miami Vice episodes but this is the classic, Michael Mann masterpiece. The plot / story is so very well done and acting by Bruce McGill is perfect. Add to this the soundtrack and you have the best of the best. 10/10. Cheers.
Den of Thieves (2018)
My first review
I have not seen this until today, and after the first 15 mins I thought I was watching a new version of Michael Mann's classic "Heat". In fairness I watched to the end and thought it had merit and could stand alone, however, there were ongoing links to Heat, can only give this a 5/10.
Boar (2017)
Great Australian cast. But,,,,,,
There are some great Aussie actors in this, Steve Bisley and Roger Ward from Mad Max (Road Warrior) and a cast of many greats. However, this is a new copy of the 1984 Razorback. The ending is very similar to an episode of Stargate SG-1 and the movie Lake Placid. Spoiler: There is an unknown second beastie. Some of the camera work is not so good, and, daylight attacks by a two tonne beast just seems to happen without anyone seeing it up to the point of impact. There are a few "why would anyone do that?" Scenes but it could have been so much more.
A Street Cat Named Bob (2016)
A Street Cat Named Bob
This is a very good movie based in a large city with a few of life's typical ups and downs added. Prior to seeing it I did not know this is based on a true story. It is very well acted and produced, the film work, direction and production is very well done and puts the viewer right in the location with actors. Additionally, for all animal lovers its not to be missed. Excellent.
