Tulip Fever (2017)

It was sublime
25 November 2017
I loved it. After reading the reviews of other users, I had no expectations from the movie. But, I was very surprised after I finished watching the film that I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot itself is very intriguing and forces the viewer to enter a game of guesses and speculations on what will the characters dare to do next. It's a wonderfully playful and thrilling love story that I would recommend everyone to go and watch.

The Good Doctor (2017–2024)

All Hail Freddie Highmore
7 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Freddie is an absolute pleasure to watch! Yes, I have to admit that the content of the script and some of the characters are a bit cliché, but Freddie's acting skills go above it all. Not for one second whilst watching the show, did I think about the fact that he was acting. The way he acted simply made the viewer get sucked in to the character and the plot.

To be honest, I expected more from the show, specifically the shows producer ("House M.D). I was annoyed that yet again everyone are hotshot doctors who can do everything and nobody ever dies. I think us viewers are sick and tired of another basic medical drama. I would have liked to see more of the real aspect of medicine where not everything is doable. In some way, everything on the show is predictable. At first we'll be presented with this episode's patient, followed by Dr.Melendez looking good and arrogant. Then Dr. Murphy will suggest a course of treatment which by that point Dr. Melendez will refuse to listen and continue to hear Dr. Brown/Kalu's suggestions. All of a sudden the doctors all but Murphy are operating and find out something isn't right. Then! Dr. Murphy visualizes the whole human anatomy in his brain and makes a brilliant suggestion which is followed by Dr. Kalu/ Brown presenting it to Dr. Melendez as their own. The idea becomes a success thus presenting Dr. Murphy as the genius we were promised in the show's first episode and everything is perfect again.

If it weren't for Freddie Highmore, I wouldn't have thought the show was as good. Overall, the script is fine, The actors do their job at portraying each personality and I enjoyed watching the show. I would have liked it to be just a little bit more realistic and less predictable, that's all.

I found collateral beauty in my river of tears
3 March 2017
You know the feeling you have when you're just a second away from bursting into tears and your throat aches? That's the feeling I had for the entire duration of the movie. The plot itself is so original, the screenplay is absolutely captivating and the performance shown and given by each actor (especially Helen Mirren which I adore- to me, her acting is beyond natural, she is the character, she no longer acts like the best actress, she's beyond that, she's the god of all actors).

I watched the movie with my mom sitting next to me, and I looked at her whilst watching the movie and I saw a coat of tears in her eye, a second away from dropping down her face. I felt as if her tear is held hostage in her eye. Withholding itself, just from my mom's fear of god forbid loosing any of us, her children.

I cried (to be accurate- wept whilst kissing my mom on the cheek afraid of loosing her), I felt joy, anger, fear, wanting to scream with the empathy I felt towards each character, I was in an emotional storm like a nine month's pregnant woman.

It's brilliant.
