Spider-Man: Lotus (2023)
Complete Character Assassination
Despite Gavin claiming he understands and knows the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man the most out of everyone, he completely wrote him out of character. The way he acted, the dialogue he spoke, it just didn't feel like Spider-Man. In fact, he acted like everything that Spider-Man stood against. I can see what Gavin was trying to do, but he completely butchered the execution.
The concept of the story is really interesting and it had so much potential, but as previously stated, Gavin butchered the execution. For example, when Spider-Man hangs out with the kid, instead of powering through his darkness and trying his best to be a good role model for the kid - he just trauma dumps on him, crushing that kid's vision of him. I understand that might be the point, Spider-Man has changed ever since Gwen died and isn't exactly the same hero the media presents him as - but I feel like Spider-Man would do everything he can to be the hero this kid needed, especially if he's sick.
Furthermore, the way Peter treats his friends at times makes him feel villainous. I understand he is going through a difficult time, and it's understandable if he needs to let go of some rage, but he never apologises for his behaviour and goes over the line at times. This is NOT Peter Parker, even if he's going through a difficult time, Peter would always see and understand that he has done something and will try and do anything to fix it.
Lastly, the film has a horrible pacing problem, the film takes forever to just get through just one scene. I understand this is more of a drama based story, and I'm completely fine with that, but the film took too long to progress with its plot and having a lot of flashbacks that staggered the plot.
The film is a huge mess, and that's regardless of the behind the scenes drama that is completely horrible and has made me and many others lose respect for Gavin and many others on the film - including the main man himself, Spider-Man. Gavin treated himself as a genius and kept telling everyone that he will create a masterpiece of a film and honours the characters and world of Spider-Man - but that is far from the truth. He created a film that didn't understand the character of Spider-Man and his morals, that is riddled with problems that can make the film unwatchable at times.
Breaking Bad: Ozymandias (2013)
Just perfect
It's Ozymandias, it's perfect. From the writing to the acting and so much more - this episode was beyond amazing, there's no words to describe how brilliant this episode is. It deserves endless love.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Perfect Revival
To me this was the perfect revival for Dexter, I loved every single second of it (even the controversial ending). Michael C. Hall delivered a fantastic performance as always, the same goes for the rest of the cast. Each episode put me on the edge of my seat with it's exciting storylines and plot. I loved this show with all heart.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
The story must continue!
This review is the hardest one I've had to write yet, the Dexter: New Blood finale both physically and mentally destroyed me. From start to finish, the episode was a thrill ride and made me experience probably every emotion known to man. Seeing Angela try to take down Dexter for being the Bay Harbour Butcher was great, it gave the episode huge tension which kept on building as the episode went on. I loved seeing Angel Batista again, but it was heartbreaking and wholesome because Angel finally learns that his old friend Dexter is alive and (possibly) learn that he is a serial killer - however it was wholesome because he finally realises that LaGuerta was right about Dexter. Finally, it's time to talk about the scene that broke me, the death of Dexter Morgan. This scene is heartbreaking, amazingly written, awesome and more - I admire this scene so much despite how emotional I get when watching it. Dexter's death was something I somewhat saw coming, but I was not mentally prepared for. The scene was huge, it's an extremely emotional end to Dexter's story which satisfied me, Dexter finally accepts that he is a disease that destroys everyone and everything around him - it's similar to the original finale in which Dexter has the same realisation and then attempts to end his life but fails, however this time Dexter makes sure he doesn't survive and makes Harrison kill him, which was horrifying but somewhat poetic. Dexter's final monologue was beautiful and perfectly ended this series and his character, and I will forever be mentally destroyed by it. This episode was beyond fantastic for me, but it has destroyed me - I was never ready to say goodbye to Dexter, both the show and the character was brilliant and meant so much to me and I'll never forget it. I've waited a long time for New Blood, I've been on an incredible journey since October 2020 to now, and I'm so emotional that it's all over (or is it?!). I hope we get a second season of New Blood or something which continues the franchise, there's so much that can be done with Harrison and Dexter's legacy. Thank you Showtime, Clyde Phillips, and (of course) Michael C. Hall for bringing back Dexter in an awesome way and giving a great ending to the series. Watching this series was one of the best experiences of my life, and I'll never forget it. Never!
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
AMAZING!
There are literally no words I can use to describe this film, other than amazing. Zack Snyder has created a masterpiece of film!
Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Rather watch 'Orphan 55' again!
Absolutely awful, the worst episode in New Who! It tries to be deep and creative but it comes lazy, boring and down right painful to watch. This episode truly ruins the lore of the show that's been going on for over 55 years. Don't watch this episode!
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
An awesome conclusion to the saga!
I know a lot of people are disappointed by this film but I'm one of the people who weren't. This film was satisfying to me, after the disaster of The Last Jedi I was worried about this movie but J.J Abrams managed to pull it off and create an epic instalment of the franchise and fix mistakes from The Last Jedi. There was a lot of fan service but I didn't mind that, Avengers: Endgame had lot of fan service and it seems like nobody was complaining about that, I don't fully understand why there's so much hate for the fan service in this. However, I understand that people would like to shocked and surprised by moments in the film instead of getting everything you wanted and more. I think there were surprising moments in Rise Of Skywalker but it was balanced with the fan service. I think this film should get more credit and also more love, but that's my opinion - it has moments that fans wanted but also brings in moments that fans never saw coming. Plus, J.J did the best he could after what Rian did with Last Jedi. Overall, I'm happy with this film and I hope it brought a satisfying conclusion to you and others.
