The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Nice or boring audiobook
Well, another from Mr Flanagan. After the midnight mass. Same idea, long conversations without anything happening, really this dude should write novels, maybe that would have been more success. I checked the first half minute without continuous speech was E1 40:00 minutes.
Midnight Mass was the same, long long long conversations, about who did what yesterday. Seriously? You can show that, this is a movie. I don't even understand how he could have made such a good movie from Doctor Sleep. It is a pity because he can make atmosphere but he need somebody else who drove him to show some happening. Otherwise movie is just an audiobook.
The Ritual Killer (2023)
It is what the title says
Well, it is not about Morgan Freeman, so if you want him to be seen as a main character, you will be disappointed.
Started as an action movie, what I don't like, but slowly goes into a police story hunting a serial killer. I think the story unfolds okay, makes sense but some things are missing and here comes a bit of a spoiler.
Ritual killings give superpower, but it doesn't really emphasized, so there is some brainwork needed. When Dr Mackles shows some special power, you can suspect that he is in that, and that is the twist. Well half-twist because since he didn't give in easily you can think he needs to do something with these happenings.
Dracula (2020)
Should be a 2 hour long movie
Started well, in the first episode they built some characters you can empathise with, also story and scenes are quite okay.
Then we are dropped in a completely different story in the second episode which long and not really engaging conversations. This part just adds some more blood to the story without too much surprise.
Not clear why Dracula made that much conversation here if at the first episode before the killing of many didn't do that.
Quite messy and hard to engage of the endless conversations, had a feeling that this is just another Flanagen series.
I think at the end of the first episode could be just enough. Stuffs just repeating.
Reptile (2023)
You need patience and a notebook
The director doesn't spend too much time to build up the characters, there was a hope that they would being built up in the meantime, but I am not sure if it happened at all.
Story tried to be mystical by dropping you in the middle of a side conversation or not showing you a photo on which the characters are surprised but you cannot. That is a sign that this story won't be that mystical as it wanted to be.
Some reactions of the characters are illogical making not much sense, and there are a lot of conversations not moving forward the story not building characters and there are solutions out of the thin air.
It gave 5 because of the effort put but keeping interest and tension is not that this movie/director managed to do.
Who Is Erin Carter? (2023)
Fair start then illogical, nonsense
The acting of the main character is so far from the reality, nonsense that it reminds me during the movie that it is an entertaining show and I cannot feel empathy with her. So the movie is just getting boring and one care less and less who really is Carter.
I gave 5 starts because of the scenes they are made in nice places but a believable screenplay would be very welcomed.
Some actors were just put in such an awkward roles that I can feel the physical pain what they could have felt during recording of the movie. Although there is a lot of time for developing characters the time was spent by meaningless conversations.
Tata muta muntii (2021)
Nice landscape, boring movie
The story stuck a lot of times, convestations would be better with better actors, but they are just boring. The first 30 minutes can be told in three sentences. Hard to follow.
The Open House (2018)
Makes no sense
The movie wants to be misterious but the only misterious thing is the screenplay. No explanation, no ending, random reasons behind the actions. Better to spend that one and a half hour in a restaurant.
The Movies That Made Us (2019)
Hard to follow, you don't know too much extra about the movies
If you are not a native english speaker or you don't have ADHD disorder you won't easily follow what is going on. There are no two sentences from the same speaker, cut by a half sentence from a movie or by a funny sound effect. It should be entertaining but it is rather draining.
Midnight Mass (2021)
Boring, slow without any idea
In the lack of story - at least in the first two episodes - it is full of meaningless, shallow conversations like how was your day, what have you eaten or why did you come back to this island. Every five minutes there is a song, basically there are more music than in MTV. It us ok to be slow if some tension and or story is being built. But just for the sake of making a season of episodes, smells like Netflix wanted to fill harddisks.
Sophie: A Murder in West Cork (2021)
Story ok, 1 sentence in French 1 in English
It is hard to follow the story since it wants to be an interesting documentary, so director wanted to keep the tension by changing the characters in every 10 seconds, speaking in different languages. Really I didn't know when to listen when to read. It is a pity.
Haunted (2018)
Seriously? At Netflix they don't know what story is?
Boring fake documentary with bad actors talking about something which doesn't make sense. Don't waste your time. I think in Netflix they think that a shallow copy of a random, bad horror movie will make money.
The Fear of 13 (2015)
Slow, boring
For half an hour nothing really happens, the main character explains the obvious for minutes. For me it was strange that you have all the power what a movie can give you, screen, pictures, characters, and only this guy is talking...talking...talking.
