REALLY sad but STILL loved it.

Don't know why all the hate. Darren did something I didn't think was possible: he created a best friend I didn't know I had, then took it away. Mr. Star, you're evil.

I hope to God ya did what ya did to set up a spin off with you know who and you know what!.......

If New York could BE a person, it would be Debi Mazur. Loved every moment of her on screen.

Younger is tied with my favorite shows of all time. Better than SATC and I liked that show too. Phenomenal job, Darren et al.

WandaVision (2021)

Gives new meaning to "Jumped the shark."

Is Disney really THIS desperate to monitize every dollar out of the Marvel franchise?

JUST because the first idea sounds great, doesn't mean it is. It's like someone watched Pleasantville then came up with this. Pleasantville was phenomenal. This just feels like content for the sake of content.

I lost whatever respect I had for the Marvel universe AND even the concept of superheroes.

Elizabeth and Paul are fantastic. And the production values are phenomenal. But this idea is asking too much suspension of disbelief.

How many other ideas were rejected for original content before they decided on this?

Better than ALL of Westworld in-one-episode.

This is the best episode of STTNG.

Brilliantly written, acted, and directed. If you don't cry at the end, you might need a shrink.

The Outsider: In the Pines, in the Pines (2020)

Further proof books filmed DON'T work.
1 March 2020
If you film the whole thing, you just point out how little happens in a book. Intead of 3 plot points spread over 120 pages, it's spread over 600.

Can't believe so much talent got trapped in this. If I wanted to watch something SO slow unfold, I'd just....... live life!

Unecessarily drawn out moodiness
11 February 2020
Never read this book or series or whatever it originally was, but it feels like they tried to include everything from the book and all it prooved is that THAT doesn't work. Screenplays and films/video are a different form for a reason.

SUCH a gorgeous looking movie...

Any shortcomings the film might have are forgiven because of the amazing cinematography.

Death Wish (2018)

So MANY things wrong, I don't know where to begin.
29 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
1. Dean Norris and Bruce Willis look almost EXACTLY alike yet Vincent D'Onofrio plays Willis' brother!

DN, BW and VO, 2.0: All these smart actors are in THIS movie and NONE of them noticed the gapping plot holes?!!!!!!!

BW is a GREAT surgeon yet ISN'T smart enough to wear a mask or a bullet proof vest during HIS crime spree, yet the DUMB bad guys are (or appear to be some of the time)?! REALLY?!!!!!!!

If the daughter cut the guy, she'd be the dead one and the wife should've lived. And the guy would've emptied his gun into her. He was the crazy one of the group. And they would've emptied their guns into both of them. They wouldn't have only shot twice. Plus, if they went through the trouble of the awesome masks they would've gotten the money and left them alone prob.

Eli Roth is LEADING man handsome but novice screenwriter dumb and didn't notice the script problems in this abomination? Joe C, you have no excuse. You know how to write this unredeeming sub genre.

Me watch-ied but me no had to likey:(

Eli, stop directing turds. I'd rather see you act, even if you do IT poorly.

Brimstone (2016)

An epic sized film about how disposable women were probably universally treated in general.
27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Brilliantly acted, directed, very well scored. Also, the cinematography was gorgeous.

At first, I was going to give this film a 3/10 because it didn't seem to have any redeeming value. But it's really just about one small (ish) women who in a way represented all women of that time - seemingly powerless. Fanning does an amazing job of gathering strength throughout the film until it seems like she will win in the end. That is until her past catches her, accepts her fate but also knowing in her heart her daughter may have it better. The director does a phenomenal job of portraying this doomed character arc.

However, thought the Kip Harrington ending should've been done differently. And the sign language thing wasn't completely believable. Also, could've done without so much disgusting violence. Some wasn't completely believable.

But overall, a very interesting film. Pearce and Fanning were worth the price of admission alone or by themselves. Without their performances, the film really wouldn't have worked at all. But also, great performances by the rest of the cast.

The Reverend is a about a twisted interpretation of the bible brought to life, a despicable psyche, and how both have probably fed off each other his entire life to justify his actions at any given moment.

Can't ANYONE write one of these movies properly?!!!
25 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
They should've just handed the movie to Lawrence Kasden, you know, the guy who wrote the BEST Star Wars movie - Empire Strikes Back, and just LIVED with his result. At least he would have structured some kind of great story. SW:TROS feels forced, mashed together, contrived and gratuitous. And if anyone's "earned" the right to F-up a Star Wars movie, it's KASDEN!

The Tran and Fin love story that was developing was a nice little "add" by Johnson, from TLJ.

And, Po and Finn shouldn't be fighting. I mean didn't Fin save Po's life?! That kindda means he owes him forever.

The gratuitous medal given to Chewie....... I mean REALLY?!!! And no one else getting a medal was just the same mistake made to different people.

JJ, go back to producing, Bud. You haven't written anything good since your calling card, Forever Young. The demands of writing a weekly series Felicity and Alias screwed up your ability to really fine tune something.

And Forever Young ALMOST doesn't work at times. And I loved that movie.

This was the movie that POC Gone Girl was SUPPOSED to be.
20 December 2018
Beautifully directed and acted. Characters were well drawn and deliniated from one another; even the kids (which was a welcome surprise). Music was great too. Good job Paul et all!

This is how good movies are supposed to be done.

Citizen X (1995 TV Movie)
10/10
Better than 'Silence of the Lambs'.
22 October 2008
The serial killer wasn't miscast like grandpa looking Hopkins. The killer in 'Citizen X' was unassuming and appropriately so.

'Citizen X' didn't glorify violence like 'Silence' did - the almost voyeuristic and unnecessary close ups of Anthony Hopkins while speaking; the seemingly heroic display of the guard's skinned body after Lector escapes.

'Citizen X' was a brilliant illustration of bureaucracy gone wrong and a nation's paranoia over image. The seemingly insurmountable bureaucratic hurdles Rea's character faced dwarfed the sexist ones of Foster's Starling in 'Lambs'.

This film is a great procedural while ironically not neglecting the humanity of it's characters (unlike most procedural forensic shows like CSI, NCIS and others).

The acting was first rate; the cinematography was phenomenal and the script was flawless.

By producing movies of this quality, HBO embarrasses more expensive productions done by bigger studios that yielded movies of significantly lower quality.

If more films like 'Citizen X' were green-lighted, then movies wouldn't seem to be increasingly a waste of time, but rather, a pleasant revelation.

E.T. (1982)
10/10
Probably the most important film I've seen.
24 March 2008
It teaches us, and reminds us of the importance of tolerance and compassion towards others different from us; as important in today's world as it probably ever has been.

Watching this film, it was hard to believe these were kids acting with an occasionally malfunctioning puppet.

E.T. deserved the Oscar for best picture more than Gandhi if for no other reason than it was an ORIGINAL movie that taught essentially the same lesson, only better, and more indirectly.

E.T.'s: Beautifully written; masterfully directed; wonderfully acted; majestically scored and eternally important.

This film, probably more than any other, can make you a better human being... if you let it.

Just Shoot Me! (1997–2003)
10/10
One of The Best Comedies Ever
15 October 2005
This show deserved all the Emmy's that went to Friends, Will and Grace, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

A mediocre JSM was better than any episode of friends. It doesn't get any better than 'Slow Donnie', 'Maya's Soda Prank', 'The Murder Mystery Game' or the 'Thanksgiving episode'. Dennis's marriage to Adrian was hilarious. The most underrated comedy I can think of. NBC's cancellation of this show, was the beginning of the downfall of that network. David Spade is nothing short of comic genius I would equate to a Steve Martin. There were times where there was more variety in his facial expressions in one scene, than entire performances of academy award winning actors.

Wendie Malick is just as amazing. Her lovable cluelessness deserved all the Emmys given to Karen from Will and Grace. The scene where she starts crying, trying to repair Vicky's and Maya's broken friendship is brilliant. She goes from pretending to cry to a state of critiquing her own performance in a split second.

Enrico's Elliot is so subtle. He makes you completely believe a regular looking bald guy can be such a playboy. His character could have been so ordinary if he wasn't such a great actor.

George Segal was perfectly cast as Maya's father. Their parent child relationship kept the show down to earth.

This show deserved all the hoopla and send off too that Seinfeld and Friends received.
