Elvis (2022)
This movie made me an Elvis fan
I was never a fan of Elvis and I'm 42. However, this movie just totally blew me away. It was so exciting and dramatic, the build up and insinuations are amazing. Yes it's not 100% accurate, but it's actually supposed to be that way so that it shows you Elvis' energy and manages to squeeze in many of his songs and give you a flavour of what he was about.
This is what a movie should be, dramatic and exciting. The mixing of the new and old songs is nothing short of genius.
Austin's portrayal of Elvis would make Elvis proud. I like Tom as Colonal Parker, I think it showed the concept of Parker perfectly, I didn't think the prosthetics were bad.
My only criticism would be, I think it should have been made into two movies.
I think the way Elvis was portrayed was very respectful. The movie isn't just about Elvis, it's also about the cultural shift he started. As previously stated I wasn't ever an Elvis fan, however, since watching this film I can see how much he has influenced the modern world, culture and music. All the musicians I love, actually loved Elvis and were influenced by him.
Since watching the film, I've done so much research on Elvis and there really has been no one else like him. The way he never berated or came across disgusted by his fans. He always cracked jokes and genuinely wanted to make people laugh and happy. I don't think the film showed enough of him laughing, as he did laugh a lot.
If anyone is interested in his life, then this film is a fantastic starting point. Remember some of it is metaphorical not all of it is 100% accurate, but that's deliberate not a mistake.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Really interesting story
I really enjoyed this. It would make a great study piece in a philosophy class. It had a surprising end I wasn't expecting. I thought the acting was good, story gripping, it was clever.
Of the genre of the original matrix, trumen show, butterfly effect, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind. If people have gone there expecting a scary horror or a romance or cheese because of Harry Styles. It's clever, interesting and unexpected, like the other films I've listed for comparison.
It's worth a watch, all the cast are good. It could have developed the other side of the story more. It's also left open enough for a second film.
The Infernal Machine (2022)
Great concept, great acting, just didn't work
I don't quite know why this didn't work, but it wasn't gripping, the story was messy and was clunky. The acting was really good and I love the idea, but disappointing sadly. Some interesting twist, so not a complete flop, and whoever wrote it was clearly intellectual, just a bit of a dullard, or maybe that was the director? Had to tell.
Not as scary as I was hoping, as the advert made it look awesome. Maybe there weren't enough characters in the film? Sorry I can't quite put my finger on what the issue is here, but there we go.
I'd love to read some other reviews of this, so get posting! .....
The In Between (2022)
Really not bad for a love story
I actually thought this was done quite well. It was well written, some interesting concepts, first love and horrendous tragedy. Not too cheesy, but you felt the emotions with the characters.
The Society (2019)
Absolutely brilliant
I have just watched the show, it's brilliant. I can't believe they're not carrying this on. It's intelligent, well written, brilliant acting, fantastic concepts. The dog is significant. It was left on a complete cliffhanger, it's criminal it's been discontinued. Shame in you netflix.
Sex/Life (2021)
This is so true
If you don't do this you're not real. Myself and all my friends reminisce about our lives and encounters prior to marriage. This is exactly as a woman's brain thinks. Doesn't mean we don't want our husbands, but we do want the excitement and people we were prior to marriage and children. We weren't born to be mother's, we have human desires and get fed up of the monotony. This is very true, I'm only 3 episodes in though...
Seance (2021)
Awful
I love horror films, but this has got to be one of the worst. Acting diabolical, script shocking as the story unveils its laughable. Not remotely realistic and the atmospheric music like something from back in the 80's. Such a shame because it had potential. Utterly ridiculous and time spent in my life I can never get back.
Intruder (2021)
What a turkey 🦃
Channel 5 have produced some awesome dramas lately so I was quite excited by this, as the plot could be interesting, but that's as good as it gets. Rarely am I compelled to diss a show, but I am now. The writing is ridiculous and I've not seen such bad acting since Elderado, of which I used to watch for some comedy. Such a shame, lord knows how this was allowed to be aired.
The Violent Heart (2020)
Really gripping film
I thought this was really good. It wasn't cheesy, the acting was convincing. It had an incredibly harrowing storyline and an unexpected ending. I thought it had everything a good movie needs. Definitely didn't feel I'd wasted my time watching it, at all.
Deadly Sorority (2017)
I'll never get that time back
The most awful film and terrible acting. Don't bother
Coroner (2019)
Not bad worth a watch
I've only seen the first episode. I'm super fussy and get bored VERY easily, this kept me entertained throughout and left me wanting more. I hate so much of what is on TV and thus wasn't bad. Not cheesy, twists, surprises and kept my focus. Give it a go.
Modern Life Is Rubbish (2017)
Absolutely stunning
I love love love this film. I love the music, I love the acting, I love the way its directed. The chemistry between the actors is exquisite. I've watched it 4 times in 48 hours. I also hate romcoms. It's just half a generation off me, I also have a lot of mates in bands and totally get his passion. I just love Head Cleaner's music, I'd buy their album!
Some Girls (2012)
Funny and realistic
I hate how some are criticising the blonde girl so much. Loads of girls are like this, but it doesn't make them bad people.
It also annoys me ow some people find men sleeping around funny but when it's a girl they call her names!
I thought the acting was excellent. I went and researched the girls' ages in real life, the oldest being 30! I found that astonishing as they are so believable as young girls. It's a comedy sitcom, not the next Shakespeare. Laugh and enjoy.
