Modern criminal world and how taking something that is not yours changes one's life
13 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The movie shows what the modern criminal world looks like and how the old techniques of fighting have become out of date. Even though the criminal world has become very deadly, it is more fatal for people involved in it accidentally. As one of the main characters steals money he finds, it changes his whole faith in life dramatically. My mother told me once that there is nothing in life one finds by accident; everything, even finding a dollar on a street has consequences and one should not take anything out of their belongings, even if it may seem lost or without an owner. This mistake and taking millions of dollars of a maniac criminal killed Moss in the end. Another point of the story is how the older generation can't control the modern criminal world and at the end the psychotic killer Anton gets away with it all. Although, it may not only be dependent on the older generation and the fact that long before Anton the criminal was mild and the world was a better place; in reality, the criminal world could always have been the same, but some people to get to fight with this world and that was the case for the police department chief. He just was too old for fighting that severe kind of crime.

Citizen Kane (1941)

How can one change affect the life of a person completely?
13 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The protagonist of the movie magnificently portrays all those people that are eaten by fame, power and money. With more "success" and more money Kane made, he was becoming less of a human, who could be capable of real love and had the right values in life.

He was materialistic and used everything and everyone around him, more precisely his second wife, who he made a singer out of, just because of the headline that he found in a newspaper ("love nest with a singer"). So basically only not to damage his reputation.

In the end, he had nobody around him, was left alone with all the statues that couldn't fill his inner emptiness. Although, there was an essential aspect of his life that tragically defined his future and namely him being forced to leave his family for his "own good". However, it turned out that the mother just gave the child away for more wealth and this defining choice contributed and changed Kane's whole future by making it meaningless and in search for more money, success and good reputation.

Kane even abandons his friend Jedediah only because his views on life were more meaningful and valuable, rather than Kane's thrivings for money and power.

At the end of the movie, we find out the better, sad side of the protagonist that is defined by his last word "Rosebud", which is the nostalgia of his childhood. This ending represents the whole movie and shows us that Kane was looking back and longing for his life before fame and power. He once even mentioned during the film that "You know, Mr Bernstein, if I hadn't been wealthy, I might have been a really great man." This again shows that Charles would have wanted a different non-materialistic life, and deep down, he was a good person.

Personally, I felt innerly empty after watching the film, as the protagonist would become more materialistic and would slowly lose his soul; thus it influenced the audience as well.

Truly corresponding to the title - The best movie ever made
11 February 2020
As a person who loves watching movies of different categories and genres, I could say that this movie could truly represent our planet earth in a right way to aliens (If they exist). With this, I would like to underline that this is a film that shows our humanity and the fact that a person could have patience of the highest level. I would recommend to everyone to watch this amazing masterpiece, even if you are not a cinema lover or as interested in cinematography as I am.
