Arctic Justice (2019)
Boring and bland...skip this one.
Overall not the best animation fornthis year. Angry Birds 2 and Abominable were much better.
This movie was boring while lacking humor. Pretty dry and bland. There's nothing to take home from as the main theme/message but just senseless boredom. I don't recommend it.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Thank you, James Cameron!
Finally worth watching and raising interest again for the Terminator series. It's been a while since there was a decent Terminator movie after Terminator 2. Plot could be more enhanced but the action made up for it. All cast members did at least decently for their roles. The main characters carried the movie equally well making a well-rounded effort. Typical humor here and there from Arnold but nothing corny or distasteful.
Actions overall kept me staying with the movie and interested in the plot. Very consistent transitions between plot and actions to procide entertainment.
Graphics were good and believable, compared to The Gemini Man and Annabelle Comes Home. Go see it!
The Current War (2017)
enLIGHTening Movie about Mankind's Inventions...
Overall appropriate movie for a family or group setting but not a date movie, unless the thirst yearns for specialized historical knowledge and high quality acting. Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult and Tom Holland lit up this movie! Very strong cast with engaging moments and great cinematography. No corny lines here!
The plot was progressive with a good balance of all the main components needed to be highlighted in this historical piece. There's not too much "nerd jargon" that the viewer would completely lose out the entertainment value of the premises of the movie. Assuming the breakthroughs/inventions were ALL true by their own inventors, one would learn a little more about each inventor besides his greatest achievements.
Great movie! Progressive plot with little to no twists to distract viewer.
Countdown (2019)
A one-time view for me at best...
Overall okay movie for me in the Horror genre. "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" was my most memorable one for 2019 so far. Here are some qualities worth mentioning:
- decent cast and okay acting
- cinematography adequate with okay graphics/visual effects
- no annoying corny lines or one-liners
- good use of current technology to apply to plot
Something not up to standards:
- typical scare tactics from horror movies through the use of random loud sound
- poor integration of current technology and demons/spirits in the plot
- plot has noticeable plot holes leading to questions and discontinuity
Definitely a one-time view for me.
Black and Blue (2019)
Disregard the super low reviews! Not fair...
I didn't know why this movie had a low review. Went to watch it then thought, "Ohhh, now I see why." The low reviews probably come biased with the bad publicity for law enforcement lately. This movie portrayed some issues that happen to relate to law enforcement but sticks to its own plot for the sake of its own ENTERTAINMENT VALUE instead of political statement.
Good cast. Good acting. Suspenseful. More substance than Gemini Man. Straight up linear movie without offensive hidden agendas. The movie definitely deserves more praise. Come on, people!
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)
Good for kids and "nerds?"
Pretty decent movie. Has a feel of a teenage/nerdy feel to it. Nice graphics. Humor could be better. Cast is pretty good for their roles. Plot is decent.
Movie is a one-time deal for me. I would not yearn to see it again in the future.
The Hustle (2019)
Why did I bother?
Skip it. Nothing to see here! Nothing comical here.
Terrible plot. Predictability was its highlight at best. Anne Hathaway did decent for her role. Rebel Wilson was typical herself but no novelty in her humor. Boring what-so-call-a-comedy movie.
