Boxing Day (2021)
Slow start that improves
I found the beginning a little slow to start, I think this is mainly due to the main character beginning in the USA and the introduction of his ex-girlfriend with no explanation at first. However, once the whole family is introduced this film becomes funny, touching and a great insight to a different culture for me.
I don't know how accurate it is to the British - Caribbean culture but given the cast and from what I have experienced of that culture I believe it is close. I loved the way the family had each other's backs whilst being brutally honest and I thought it was an excellent way to show that in Christmas/Holiday films it's not all perfect families that sit around baking and making ornaments.
I would definitely recommend a watch.
Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical (2017)
A feel good watch
I am a massive fan of a stage show that is filmed live instead of a film adaption and this does not disappoint. The choreography is amazing and the cast as excellent dancers as well as singers and actors. The stage set is also brilliant in the way that that it moves and commands the whole stage and the way the cast interact with it means that you always see something new each time you watch it. A sure fire way I knew that it was gripping was the fact that my 6 year old daughter sat still the whole way through and now has a new soundtrack to listen to. If you love musicals then this is a must!!
