Scrooge (1935)
Awful adaptation
What can I say? From the very start it's a mess. The two gentlemen collecting for the poor are missed from story. The two not only highlight Scrooge's miserable outlook and contempt for his fellow man but their exchange with Scrooge sets up some of the most important dialogue in the book. Without this much of the emotion and sentiment is lost. No Fan, no schooldays, no Fezziwig. No looking in on Fred's party. The death of Tiny Tim is completely unmoving and misses the the most moving scene of Bob coming home from the cemetery and breaking down.
Scrooge, whilst miserly was not a tramp, yet you'd be forgiven for thinking he was playing the part of old Joe the rag man.
The 3 staves of the Ghosts are rushed and without emotion.
The plastic builders bucket falling as Scrooge enters a room is a ridiculous goof easily resolved with a second take.
The Man from Earth (2007)
Twilight Zone rip off
As I started to watch this I thought "I've seen this before" and then realised it's a rip off of "Long Live Walter Jameson" from the first series of the Twilight Zone.
I watched through to the end but it wasn't good. Acting was poor, production was cheap and the story pretty much went on too long. Watch the Twilight Zone episode instead.
Doom Patrol: Danny Patrol (2019)
Original with a not so original street name
Enjoyable episode that wandered from the norm but was all the better for it.
Danny the Street! - I can only assume this was a homage to the great drag artist Danny La Rue.
This series doesn't do linear but it's a great series
A Few Less Men (2017)
Complete bilge
Whoever thought this up wants shooting. Unfunny, dire script and absolutely awful acting. Watch it by all means and make your own mind up but don't say I didn't warn you.
