Blow the Man Down (2019)
Enjoyable!
Not sure why it's getting so much hate, it doesn't deserve it. The casting is great, the lead sisters are totally believable and genuine and the twists are enjoyable. My husband and I really liked it!
The Wrong Missy (2020)
I don't get the horrible reviews
I knew the critical reviews were bad but I heard the word-of-mouth reviews were good so we watched it. It's fun, funny, and goofy. This is every bit as good as a standard Ben Stiller or Sandler movie but the bonus is Spade's signature deadpan delivery. My husband and I had several laugh-out-loud moments and the movie moves quickly. Really fun cameos and a KILLER Elle King version of the song "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)". Her Dad, Rob Schneider, is a funny side character as is Nick Swardson. Can't imagine why anyone would hate on this movie.
Roswell, New Mexico (2019)
So sad 😢
I have loved the original Roswell since I was glued every week back in '99 and I SO wanted to love this but it's pretty terrible. I went in with an open mind, already being a big fan of Nathan Parsons from back in his General Hospital days (then True Blood and The Originals). I also love Tyler Blackburn (from PLL) and Michael Trevino (from Vampire Diaries) so I figured this would be a slam dunk. My three guys are the ONLY part of this sad series that are watchable. Tyler Blackburn (Alex) doesn't have nearly enough screen time and it's obvious when he comes on that he's a cut above the others. Nathan is a good Max but the new Liz has zero chemistry with him and in my opinion zero likability in general. She just comes across as angry and bitter. The new Michael and Isobel are utterly forgettable. Isobel's marriage makes no sense in the story and michael's brooding feels so contrived. Original Michael was definitely a brooder too but he had genuine moments of softness and vulnerability to balance it. I really did look forward to this version but it seriously just made me want to re-watch the original from the beginning, which I have been doing. Halfway through season 1 of the OG and I'm enchanted and charmed all over again. What a HUGE difference between the two.
