The Emoji Movie (2017)
Stereotypical, Confusing, and Just Plain Awful....
No, I am not writing this review just because of what people have said, I'm writing on how I think of this movie in MY OPINION!!!
As a 12th grader, I think this is really offensive to other High-Schoolers, people basically think that all High school kids do is mindlessly text, not pay attention in class and play with our phones, and act like slaves to technology to the point where we act brainless and fail everything in life...thus why adults are labeling us as parasitic, childish, dependent millennials True, we may text and go on social media, but we are not hooked to the point of completely ignoring school as a whole....We do not live lives completely revolved around our phone...That's just an offensive stereotype...
The movie itself is also VERY confusing, the Animation is passable, Voice are Fine, but I could not understand any of the movie, I get the whole "Express Yourself how you want to" message, but Emojis are NOT an ideal subject to use this message with since all emojis have a single task and having 1 emoji have a multiple emotions and wants to change and express himself...it just doesn't comprehend...Heck, It would be better if they used Play-Doh and made a Play-Doh Movie, at least it would MAKE SENSE FOR THE EXPRESS YOURSELF MESSAGE!!!
In short, this movie is a bad influence for kids, offensive to high-schoolers, and confusing to the point of not even bothering to see anymore of it I was lucky to actually make it through the film without getting angry at the blatant product placements and teen stereotypes...
Overall, I cannot forgive this movie, and it deserves the 0% on Rotten Tomatoes...Admit it Sony, you've flopped again!!
The Mr. Men Show (2008)
A Defenite Must Watch Series!!
In my personal honest opinion. I think the Mr. Men Show (Along with the Books) are great ways for a child 4-9 years old to have a head start on viewing the world as it is today. With a vast amount of topics to discuss such as Transportation, Communication, and Basic Life Tips (All in a nutshell for kids to process) Along with its Clever Humor, Dance Numbers, and Skits...It also shows kids the consequences of being Rude, Stubborn, Naughty, etc. To a degree where it does not come off as demanding kids to be good, but more subtle to the point where kids understand what happens and how they can not be like that specific character and more like the positive characters who go about life like normal people do, while also having fun.
My 8 year old cousin absolutely loves the Mr. Men show and usually asks me to watch it on my laptop whenever she comes over every other weekend (She just loooooves Miss Sunshine and Mr Bump) and her mother even told me that she hasn't been naughty that often, because she "doesn't want to end up like Miss Naughty" which actually inspired me to write this review. (And because it was a part of my childhood too)
In all honesty, I'm not saying that the show is a miracle worker to make all kids become instantly pure and angelic. But its a good starter for little kids to understand the world around them, on a child's level so that they may process as well, as well as to understand consequences of actions...Heck, maybe they may want to learn more about a certain topic after watching an episode!
