Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Rewatching it is not gonna make it suddenly better...
Yes, I do know that it's been almost four months, but I did not get this off my chest then, and now I have to.
Firstly, I must admit, when I watched this episode for the first time, I thought that I was just going overboard, and that in a couple of weeks, or maybe at least a month, I'd get over it and I would finally start seeing it as a great episode. Then, however, I rewatched some earlier episodes, with much better battle sequences, and I have to say, this show was good when it actually focused towards the main brand that the show consistently threw at us during its long run; 'anything can happen to anyone, and even the most important character can die at the crucial time', and to not get attached to anyone. So, I was surprised when this episode decided to just throw that branding into the fire, and decided to insert the most ridiculously insane plot armor I ever saw.
Secondly, the Night King, the White Walkers and the wights were built up as the greatest threat upon Westeros, however, for some stupid reason, they decided to throw away the Night King and the plot regarding the Great War so they may focus the last three episodes on some of the worst pieces of dialogue and plots ever. When the show's first scene started, it was not Jon Arryn's death that was shown, it was not Dany and Viserys in Pentos, it was three rangers of the Night's Watch scouting the Haunted Forest, and locating mutilated corpses and blue-eyed deadmen, so it was obvious that this is what the final few episodes of the show would focus on, but no, instead, we were instead treated with that stupid 'Mad Queen' story, and the ruining of most of the character arcs and character development.
Now, I can finally have my say on the episode alone; oh boy, was this a terrible delivery of something which I thought I would interpret as great. There are three things that suck in this episode; 1. the plot armor, 2. the decision to have Arya (for some reason) kill the Night, 3. the fact that there was really no such thing as sacrifice in this episode
The plot armor; Brienne should've died about nine times in this episode, and the fact that they decided to put the women and children into a crypt with all the dead people (as Peter Dinklage said) was a really bad idea, but to just have almost everyone inside the crypt survive, was baffling. And, it is not just the humans, it's also the dragons; Rhaegal should have died in this episode instead of the other, like wtf, instead of having him die in some sort of sacrifice you decide to kill him off by having Euron perfectly shoot three scorpions into Rhaegal and then just going back to shooting like Edmure Tully towards Drogon? The few characters that were not affected by the plot armor are the ones who actually still had great story arcs, such as Theon and Jorah, who were also the only ones that sacrificed themselves, along with Beric. But still, every single important character is somehow invincible to the army of 100,000 wights and a dozen White Walkers with massive ice spears, like wtf?!
Arya killing the Night King... just, honestly... no.. I am not even gonna touch on that. You should already know, if you've watched the series up to this point, as to why having Arya kill the Night King was a terrible idea, and the fact that his death somehow means that the entirety of the wights is now suddenly dead is a very stupid plotline, or at least a poorly explained one.
The fact that there was no sacrifice in this, I mean... was there any real sacrifice in this episode? Other than Jorah, Theon and Beric, no character actually willfully sacrificed themselves to save another character. It would have been better for Brienne to sacrifice herself to save Jaime. The fact that, somehow, half of all of the armies fighting survived was also confusing.
5/10, because, had I actually seen more of the episode had it been brighter, I probably would have given it a worse rating, and also because this episode is actually, out of the last four, relatively the best one, but that's really not a compliment.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Little Yellow Book/Bumper to Bumper (2012)
One of the worst SpongeBob episodes ever...
"SpongeBob SquarePants" is one of the best cartoon shows out there, but as most of us already know, the modern-day SpongeBob, from Season 6 to the middle of Season 9 is absolutely awful. This episode only shows how terrible the beginning of Season 9 was.
"Little Yellow Book" is absolutely awful, I personally disliked the way Squidward laughed at all of SpongeBob's secrets. It has little comedy and doesn't really use jokes, maybe it has a FEW good moments – but otherwise it stinks. Maybe you'll like this type of episode, but I generally hate this episode. The main reason why I disliked it is not because Squidward was reading someone else's diary and not feeling bad about it (OK - that's one of the reasons) but because it is completely DULL and everyone just laughs at SpongeBob. I know it is supposed to be humorous, but it's not nice to laugh at someone because he has a secret. Maybe the old writers could've done a much better job at this episode, but the modern writers can't write good jokes. That's one of the problems with Modern SpongeBob SquarePants – a complete lack of jokes and ripping-off older episodes. I give this episode a 1/10. If I could, I'd give it a 0.
The sister episode is "Bumper to Bumper" which is also a bit dull and is trying to rip-off the older boating school episodes like "No Free Rides" and "Mrs. Puff, You're Fired". It's too dull to describe it. I'm giving it a 3/10.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Secret Box/Band Geeks (2001)
Best SpongeBob SquarePants Episode Ever!
These two episodes are considered the best in the entire history of SpongeBob SquarePants. And there's many reasons why they are considered the best:
The Secret Box: In this episode, SpongeBob tries to find out what is in the box that Patrick has , which tests their friendship. In the episode, Patrick states "the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma" - a quote that will be forever stuck in my head.
Band Geeks: Amazing music, hilarious quotes, many lovable characters... This episode is by many people considered "the best SpongeBob SquarePants episode ever" and I think so too. In the episode, Squidward forms a band after he runs into his old enemy Squilliam. I love this episode, even after 15 years I still watch it.
I think these two are without any doubt the best SpongeBob episodes out there. 10/10
