Watch the original musical
9 December 2022
The best musical numbers are entirely left out, replaced by glitzy (with weird fairy creatures??) numbers that don't progress the story. I don't mind the edition of the dog, apparently when Dickens would perform the story he made changes himself, so these types of modifications don't bother me--what does bother me was the changing of the story such that the vignettes that should have altered Scrooge's feelings were replaced by weird musical numbers that added nothing, and mostly weren't in the original musical--where is my favorite "December the 25th"?

It isn't believable that Scrooge changes, because so little time is given to the images that should be moving him--felt like only two seconds with his nephew, Christmas Present doesn't have his torch that he sprinkles on people, but does have weird fairy creatures that make zero sense.

This had so much wasted potential, kids might enjoy the sparkle, but the idea that anything will change Scrooge's mind at this point is laughable--he doesn't spend enough time anywhere to BE moved.

Iron Man (1994–1996)
7/10
Questionable
11 June 2011
Everything here lists this as being shown in the 90's--I think it was recycled from an earlier show. I am almost positive that I watched this show in the 80's--there is no other cartoon I can find with these characters from Saturday mornings when I was growing up--and I know I watched Iron Man then! Plus, the animation (at least for that listed as season 1) is not on par with other shows from the 90's. I think they recycled a program (at least Iron Man) and reused it here. The updated computer animation does not blend well with the older animation. The references to the sudden "improvement" in animation also leads me to believe they ran out of the old footage--or got funding for new animation!! I had a crush on Robert Hays, and to me, he was always Tony Stark!

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle (1994– )

If you love the books, avoid this!
11 August 2007
I checked this out from the library, and I was hesitant because my son isn't really old enough for me to read the stories to and I was afraid these would spoil them.

I needn't have worried, the program has no discernible relationship to the books other than the titles.

The show itself, I suppose wouldn't be that bad, if it didn't call itself "Mrs Piggle-Wiggle", although the pacing, even for a children's program seems terribly slow (and I usually enjoy children's programing). Even my son shut the television off, and he's two (and will watch TV every chance he gets!)! I'm glad I didn't pay any money for it!

Santa, Jr. (2002 TV Movie)
3/10
Confusing
11 December 2006
I am a sap for Christmas movies, I will watch almost anything! This movie, however cute in places, appeared to have multiple writers with different directions!

The movie was 3/4 through when suddenly I am told that Santa Jr no longer believes in the Christmas spirit. That was the first I'd heard of it! Yet he still continues to tell others, "Not to give up hope." Cute idea, poorly executed, there are plenty of sappy Santa movies out there, watch a better one!

I would recommend "Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus", which is a Santa Jr, who wants to be Santa!
