Ponniyin Selvan: Part One (2022)
Not flawless, but excellent adaptation
No spoilers!
Cons:
The graphics are still not Hollywood budget quality. Obviously Maniratham had to change the books a lot to fit into 3 hours.
The movie is not flawless, but the 3 hours flew by! Art Director Thottatharani has spun his magic on screen again. It all looks impeccable! The boats, ships, palanquin, royal court, forts, war tents.... Everything felt so real.
Most actors have done justice to the roles. Karthi does justice to Vandhiyathevan. Aishwarya mesmerizes us on screen as Nandhini (Props to A. R. Rahman's music for her). My dear Poongkuzhali looks beautiful on screen as well.
Ends in a cliff hanger and Sets up very well for part-2! Can't wait for the movie sound track to come out.
TL;DR Maniratnam deliver's Kalki's magum opus.
Alpha (2018)
Visuals are stunning
Good movie. Beautiful story about domestication of wolves. Probably not historically accurate, but still good to watch.
Warrior: The Blood and the Sh*t (2019)
What a great episode!
I am only 5 episodes in, man, what an episode. I don't know how they are ever going to top this one. Hope the show has not peaked too soon
Hard Kill (2020)
I still can't get over, how spectacularly bad Hard Kill was.
Where do I even begin?!
The first few minutes are not bad till the characters start to speak. Then it goes downhill so fast. Then comes cliches after cliches.
This could have been a better movie if they had just shot Bruce Willis in the first 5 minutes. Then they wouldn't need the remaining 90 minutes.
Extraction (2015)
So so bad.
I tried hard to like the movie. They lost me at Patriach Key.
Kadaram Kondan (2019)
Watchable
Feels more like a 6.5 movie to me. Overdid in some parts when trying to make Vikram look sleek.
Bad Company (2002)
Please don't watch this.
Terrible acting. Dialogues are all filled with cliches. Looks like they were in a hurry to finish this. Looks like they put together a bunch of scenes from others movies.
Just don't watch it. You are welcome.
