Highway to Hell (1991)
Entertaining oddity
Roadways facing darkly weird challenges with all of the surprise guests. Packed with puns, sight gags, and references to mythology and literature. A totally bizarre and completely entertaining oddity that has truly fantastic makeup effects.
Highway to Hell went down that secondary road on July 4, 1991.
Sudden Death (1995)
Such a great kitchen fight scene!
It's a well done Die Hard ripoff in a hockey arena. This movie has one of the most stellar kitchen fight scenes utilizing all the gadgets to keep your salivary glands active. Also Powers Booth is the bad guy and dies wearing a terrible mustache / wig combo in the slowest helicopter crash of all time. This movie is so much better than it has any right to be.
Sudden Death's shoot took place during the 1994-1995 NHL lockout. The dispute between the Players Association and the NHL led to months of games cancelled. Local hockey players were recruited, to play hockey in the movie. For those players it meant long hours on set, often spent waiting. Rumor has it the players realized that the VIP viewing suites were for the taking and those locked fridges were not stocked full of beer for long.
Sudden Death dropped into theaters December 22, 1995.
Gojira tai Hedora (1971)
Godzilla's style game was strong with atomic breath moves
Godzilla defended the earth against an alien sludge monster with pulsating poisonous emissions fueled from consuming toxic waste. This grimey legendary battle resulted in Godzilla losing an eyeball and getting a hand corroded from the Smog Monster's acidic epidermis.
Godzilla vs. Hedorah came out in Japan July 24, 1971. In the states aka Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster dressed with some rad cover art.
Point Blank (1998)
YOOO!
Danny Trejo shoves his face into a gigantic pile of coke in front of a naked dancing chick. This added two stars to my rating.
