Gran Turismo (2023)
Blomkamp didn't let me down. Pretty good 👍
Always interested in anything Neill Blomkamp is involved in. I think Ford Vs Ferrari is a better movie but this definitely didn't suck. I'd say it straddles the line between solid 7 and soft 8 but only because the father/son element elevates it. At first you could make an argument that it's just the typical daddy doesn't support me trope but it all comes together in a real good emotional way in the end. It actually has an impact on you which is something most movies these days fail to do, that's if they even attempt to do it at all. All made possible with great performances too. Well done with that! Good action, decent character development, established stakes, and overall enjoyable movie. Hits home even more of course knowing it's a true story, which is pretty crazy! It's a good watch 👍
Holiday in the Vineyards (2023)
Are you kidding me?
Don't even need to watch this to know. Did multiple double takes though just to make sure I wasn't crazy because this is just a lazy rip off of "A California Christmas" with the same lead actor! Wtf?! Are you serious? How many times is Netflix just gunna rehash the same old story? A Cali Xmas wasn't even that good. It was slightly above average for an average sappy love story from Netflix and that's not saying much. Maybe not even that because the 2 leads are very easy on the eyes so they probably mask a lot of the movies short comings, if you're brain dead and content with just drooling over them I guess. I have no words. Just lazy. But it's Netflix so can we expect anything else?
