The Man Who Saved the World (2014)
Wow. Pause. Breath.
Wow. Pause. Breath. Exhale gratitude. Inhale inspiration,
I watch loads, movies or docs, trying never to dip below 7.0 IMDb rating, plus a review that connects with me. I fail sometimes. But not with this.
This documentary blew me away.
This documentary elegantly and in eloquent honesty tells two intertwined stories of how humanity is saved, as a whole and also as one single mother-son relationship, both just in time, with not a minute to spare.
Well done!
Oh, and thanks Stanislav, by the way!!
Interstellar (2014)
The absolute best movie of all time, ever?
Is this indeed the absolute best ever movie of all time, ever-ever, according to your scores here at IDMB?
No, it just isn't.
It is highly overrated. Most. Ever.
Rough on the edges, and soggy in the middle.
IMHO it really is no more than a 6*, except perhaps on the "Nolan scale". Fair enough if that's the brief and narrow world you're into. And he knows it himself. Don't you?
What was all that 165 million actually spent on? A modest some for the actors, some for the producers, some for the crew and a bit of CGI. And the other 100 million? Where did that go? To fighting ebola or any other good cause? I bet.
2001: A Space Odyssee was so obviously the "inspiration", to put it kindly. To be kinder, one other cherished movie that some scenes of this movie and parts of the plot made me think back to was "The Man Who Fell to Earth", finely acted by none other than... David Bowie.
Nuff said on this one. Next please?
