Very Personal
20 December 2006
Did it really last two and a half hours? It felt felt a lot shorter than that.

No, this is not an action war film with nonstop blood baths. It is a film that pulls the humanity out of the monster that is war.

This is one of, if not the best, movie ever directed by Clint Eastwood. I usually have a hard time following plots with many characters because they make me lose focus on the general story, but this one is done well. Not only am I engaged, I also become attached to every character and feel and understand their conflicts.

It does not matter who fights on the right or wrong side of WWII. This film goes beyond that. It is about what is right or wrong for the individual human being. It excels as a story about the human heart.

Very Thought Provoking
8 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I remember seeing this is LA a few years back. Met the director and one of the stars Jim Leung at the screening.

This is one of those very thought-provoking pieces that will make people wonder more about the other half of the people of the world. No spoilers here, but this is something that everyone in the world should see, especially Americans. It is a film about what it means to be American and it does it in about 15 minutes.

Excellent cast, especially down to the supporting cast to include Jim Leung, who's been popping up in Youtube here and there. The nurse, I want to see more of. There are not enough older Asian women in movies nowadays.

The filmmakers should make this movie available for wide distribution or pack it on some other DVD of similar nature. This one needs to be seen by people of the world.
