Slay (2024)
Glorious
"Slay," a film drenched in Drag queerness, where vibrant characters strut across the screen in a mashup of genres: part Western, part vampire flick. Set in a single location, it cleverly maneuvers its budget constraints to uproarious effect. I haven't chuckled like this in ages.
It's a high-wire act of a movie, teetering on the edge of failure, yet somehow, it triumphs. Seamlessly blending its comedic concept, "Slay" soars. In an era where crafting broad, crowd-pleasing comedies is a challenge, this one boldly declares its presence, inviting audiences to join in the fun. But amidst the laughter, there's depth and consequence, adding layers of joy to the experience.
The Batman (2022)
The Best Batman Movie Yet.
It elevates the work. Christopher Nolan and captures the dark noir detective aspect of the best Batman Comic Books. In it DC finally has a masterpiece by which to build a universe that is cohesive, dynamic and different than anything Marvel could throw at our eyes.
The incredible narration was intoxicating. Giving us the inner psychology of a madman that chose a heoric path.
In some ways it remind me of the incredible David Fincher series, Mindhunter, in that it explored the way Batman was a detective first and foremost, who established his own procedure, a Sherlock Holmes for a dark city, an exploration of the madness of a falling empire. The story of America.
