Rescued by Ruby (2022)
Cheer for a Hero!
I was at the premiere, and had the opportunity to watch the movie on the big screen with an audience. I know all the people in the real life story, which makes the movie even more special to me. It is a feel good, true story aboutt Ruby, a shelter dog who was rescued on the day she was going to be put down, because she was deemed unadoptable. The story shows how Ruby and her State Police handler, Dan, train this mischievous pup to become a member of the elite K9 unit. There are many obstacles in their way, but they persevere and succeed. This movie came out at just the right time when the world needs to cheer for a hero. It will tug at your heart, make you laugh and cry happy tears. Don't miss this one!
The Wedding Veil (2022)
I Loved the Movie!
A lot of people are focusing on the non-Boston accents. Sure, in the Boston scenes, no one sounded like they came from Boston. Except for the sky line, the street scenes didn't look like Boston either. I didn't care. I loved the movie's story and content. It was a fun movie! I loved the friendship among the three girls. I loved the way Kevin McGarry played a vulnerable, flawed character, who was redeemed in the end. Forget about the accents and watch the story. It is well worth your two hours.
When Calls the Heart: The Kiss (2021)
WCTH Has Been Spun into a Tawdry Soap Opera
WCTH could always be counted on to tell uplifting, faith-based stories that just make you feel good. Season 8, and especially the finale, was so far from that. For 3 full seasons the female lead, a teacher, has been in a love triangle-One is the town's beloved Mountie, and the other a shady saloon owner/gambler. This year the teacher, who used to be kind and loving is angry at everyone. Hallmark marketed this triangle, and it polarize fans. According to polls, 70% of fans supported the Mountie. Fans have loved the show through the male lead being killed off and a scandal involving another female lead, but remained loyal. Instead of great stories, fans were played for short-term ratings, The show, based on the lovely books written by Janette Oke, is unrecognizable now. The entire season was poorly edited with choppy storylines, especially the finale. The bright spot was the great storylines involving the supporting cast. Unfortunately they have turned the best show on tv into a tawdry soap opera. Anyone who complained was bullied, shamed and censored on social media. Through all the fallout, somehow they believe they did the best thing for the show and have told fans to feel free to leave if they're not happy. I hoped they'd do a Facebook Live or something to explain their rationale for the unnecessary angst they caused.. I guess loyalty doesn't matter to Hallmark anymore.
When Calls the Heart: The Greatest Christmas Blessing (2018)
Hope Valley's Christmas Miracle
Heartwarming story of the people of Hope Valley who are as close as family. The episode is woven around a group of orphans who are stranded in town for Christmas and Elizabeth preparing for the birth of her baby. The Christmas story is tied in nicely. This is an amazing family show with outstanding actors, writers and directors. If you watch one episode of When Calls the Heart you will be drawn in by its special charms.
