Do you know Mel??
8 September 2023
For those complaining "it's too Blazin' Sadles"... it's a tagline! It's on purpose. Read some trivia folks. "It's not for everyone"... nothing is! "Some jokes fall"... not every comedian gets a laugh. Take it for what it is, a kid friendly introduction to Mel the master. My kids have seen some Mel Brooks, because I'm that person. I missed a bunch of this movie because I work over nights and slept, so I will get an opportunity to watch this again. I'm not going to put in regurgitated lines, plots, or any spoilers. If you have a grain of a sense of humor, and understand anything about Mel's work... and need a place to start young kids on in an adventure of stupid funny intro .... This is a good place to start. By the way... this movie doesn't even take itself seriously in the opening credits. If you were looking for it to do so in the movie you need to go back to whatever boring lifeless tv and movie junk you were watching before and stay safe there. Stop pretending to have a sense of humor and leave the rest of us alone! It isn't for everyone because as I said not everything is, but thanks for making fun of a movie that already did the job of making fun of itself. Have a great day, try something new. Start a new hobby maybe.

3 from Hell (2019)

I'm going out on a limb here...
5 January 2023
Could all the people complaining make a better mover than The Devil's Rejects?

So with that in mind to all those complaining about Baby taking the screen and over-acting: Otis makes comment about something changing her from being "inside" for so long.

Ok. I'll agree it wasn't exactly at a standard I was expecting. But on the other hand I was also looking for something crazy insane. Got that and a little more. Ok story was not strong, maybe slightly weak. But what did Baby say "you can't go back"!

People hated 31, and Rob delivered what fans wanted, lots of blood and mayhem.

Fans are fickle, you can't please everyone... I think it was smart to come in, give us the players, and leave a trail of blood! Who knows what the future holds here. But I know I could not have recreated Rejects and still left that as the standard.

All I'm saying is, every time Rob makes a movie fans want more, he makes more ... complaints. He delivers we cheer. Then we complain about the next one. I have enjoyed each movie with not trying to compare it to something else. I also love he makes a movie and doesn't make apologies... here the movie like it or not. I waited for it to hit a streaming site, I don't have funds to watch movies out, so I wait. Kind of glad I did on this one, and I think I probably enjoyed it because I could take the time to.

If you missed the hints in the movie, I feel bad for you. But maybe watch it again and see where you went wrong. Everyone is allowed their opinion, but don't tell me not to watch something. I'm not you, and I dissect everything, I search the clues. I really did like this one... Rejects is still the top of all Rob's movies. I think he knows that too!

Battlestar Galactica: The Hand of God (1979)

Really good show... Tubi has a second season!
29 December 2022
I'm just now starting the second season, I remember it as a kid. Barry Van Dyke (Dick's nephew, Jerry's son). Any way I greatly enjoyed the first season, and I don't know how much I will enjoy the "new" cast on Tubi. But there are some repeat ones. I have yet to watch the one from a few years back, the reboot... not a big reboot fan, but I love sci-fi, and will probably geek it out like any. Back to the original... the first season has its flaws, not always a superb script, and maybe even some missed cues, but so enjoyable. Characters lovable. I will add to this when I finish season two, and I'll critique it as a separate show considering the changes.

Clarice (2021)
4/10
At first... then not so much.
10 May 2021
I'm only on episode 5. I waited. I waited for Clarice to come out and be strong headed, strong willed. Just another crime drama with regurgitated lines from people who forgot to have an imagination. I think the actors are doing well with what they have. I think it could get better. Although changing her personality, making everyone hate her, and even changing her past and family dynamics. Too many story lines, not enough character development, to like or hate anyone enough to care. I hate being a critic of every show I watch, but when something isn't enjoyable it's ok to be honest. I get the people who like it. You probably didn't see the movies, or read the books. Try that first then tell me what you think. I want the Hannibal series back!! I would have enjoyed a prequel of Clarice before the Wild Bill and how she got there, and maybe CBS could have actually fronted some cash to get Lecter in the show or at least his name! People want to leave the real world for a time, to be entertained, and every aspect of we are being force fed what is going on, and we get no release. Well, I don't seem to be finding a place that just wants to help me rest away from the daily grind. Maybe that's just me too, but I know I'm not alone. You have the blue prints to make an epic series. Instead we get mediocre slop, same stories from every crime show, every drama. We get the same characters, and the same situations and predictable outcomes. I'm going to continue to pull for Clarice to get better. Luckily I can go a while without watching, and I can find enjoyable shows to watch, and only watch this junk maybe once every couple weeks. Spoiler alert... play a game on your phone while watching the show. You'll need to do something to keep entertained!

Vikings (2013–2020)
8/10
8 stars for excitement. 6 for historical accuracy.
4 January 2021
The last few episodes of this were fantastic. They really fixed some of the things I found annoying. But the addition of things that we really don't know? After 900AD (I don't care that we changed things AD BC still exist!) is when things really got recorded well especially on coins. Anyway.... I really liked the show. It gave me something to cheer on and give me my Sons of Anarchy fix. But Vikings weren't dirty, dark, and just vicious. So a lot of stuff has been added just for shock value. Gotta make it interesting to make money. History channel used to make things for history. Now they are just an entertainment system like everyone else just trying to make the money and leave out the actual history digging. Maybe I'm old school. I've been around for a while, and I remember when MTV was literally music videos, history channel was history, and we had real DJ's on the radio that you could call and they would remove a tape or record, or you could send a mix tape and discover talent! Ranting... because now history channel left out an element. History. I did a lot of digging on Vikings. Where was Eric the Red? Where was Leif Erickson? Years pass and there's the lineage of Rollo's son and grandson? Oh... no wait. Forget that he was even the brother of Ragnar! History can be fun, and the show could have still been fun with the addition of known history, word of mouth history, and maybe even a little less of the things that were added just for shock value. But who wants to watch something like that? Did they think they had to compete with SONS and GOT?? Hmmm then maybe they shouldn't have done this on History. Maybe they could have collaborated with HBO, or some other channel.. FX maybe! Then they could have called it history with the addition of fantasy and inaccuracies. I liked that Ragnar went how he was supposed to. Bjorn didn't. Harold didn't. Ivar didn't... Hvitserk is slightly unknown, but there is tale of a name change. Anyway. There is more they could have done. Anyone notice that only a few of these characters had red hair?? Hmmm, that was the first thing I noticed. Many had red blazing hair! Ornate. Flamboyant colors! They represented their family names, Iceland still does this. There's also an exciting mix of kings when looking deep. Norway, Denmark, dual kings and queens at times. They really missed out. All in the name of making it just about battles, and blood and sex. Look, I love explosions, and battles and sex. But so much gets lost if you are claiming to be historians. All in all, it's a really great show, the last episode closed it all off in my mind. It was emotional, and I didn't care about the inaccuracies, because I cared about the characters. But that doesn't mean I still ignored the historical flaws. Read. There's lots out there, and they are just as exciting, battles, blood... rivalries, divisions, and people backstabbing each other for lands, kingdoms and money. So hopefully that's what this show did do. Made people want to look into it. It's the reason I stopped watching Walking Dead and read the comics... the comic was much more exciting, and the dialogue on the show sucked! Read. Watch the shows, but don't forget we have books. We can create much with words. 😊

American Horror Story: Camp Redwood (2019)
Season 9, Episode 1
9/10
Complainers don't know the 80's!!
24 November 2020
The first episode had me hooked. I'm going to try to chain smoke all of the episodes on Prime. Watch all the horror movies from the 80's. Look up all the serial killers. Check their bio's. Look into other actors, directors, and what prompted their movie makings. Seek the humor in all of them, and then tell me what is bothering you about this season! I'm only a few episodes in, I love the campy feeling (not because they are at camp) look up "campy movies" of the 80's. Young kids just won't get it, I am whisked away to my childhood here. The music, the cars, the "having a clue" of what's going to happen... "don't open that door", "stay here"... and so on. Sorry people don't get it. Sorry people aren't fans of the last few seasons... wait. No I am not! Read other complaints, and some were saying that AHS has gone into societal changes and too much agenda... has from the beginning. Instead of complaining stop watching. It's like not liking a song, skip it or change the station! You have a choice to watch or not. But don't complain about this season being all wrong, when it is completely all right at this point. "It's too drawn out"??!! Um... it's not a movie, and the cliche's are absolutely on spot. I only gave it a 9 because nothing is ever perfect. I find myself being scared in some parts, grossed out, and then laughing my head off! There's even bad dialogue in the right spots, and over dramatic acting! This is brilliant. "Is this a joke", "is this a parody", "is it being silly on purpose"? Did you ever watch Friday the 13th, or Nightmare on Elm ST? Did you not laugh at the ridiculousness? Give me a break. Kids today... can't enjoy anything unless it's spelled out for you! I could go on. But that's a waste. AHS had everything from the first season to now, and doesn't show signs of stopping at every cliche, every drop of blood, and everything that is tacky. Yep, some episodes maybe didn't cut it all time. But sometimes a pizza isn't always perfect, and the ice cream melts too fast, and the chips you saw looked good until you realized they were stale. You take what you get, and move on hoping for the next one though right? Sit back and enjoy, or just turn the channel to something else. There's a little bit of everything for everyone. Nuff said.
