Khraniteli (1991)
A for Effort
A charming feat in doing the darn best with what you were given. The production may look fake but the acting sure wasn't. Couldn't look away. Definitely a memorable and hilarious find. I love movies and plays that really remind you where the stage and film all started from. The wigs, the costumes... the music that would practically cue the audience how to react...it's no different than a classic YouTube film production someone did in their yard, so you either love it or you don't, if that makes sense , how every great meme starts. I haven't got a clue how to reach this review to six hundred characters.
Cruella (2021)
Did I miss something
A very dumbed down plot and the soundtrack is distracting - not sure what the 7.5 star rating is about personally.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Why tho
This movie simply doesn't make any sense. The scenes don't have any reasoning or purpose behind them. It's like a bunch of clips stitched together- WW also seems a little pretentious as diana prince.
Rebecca (2020)
Just as expected from lily james
This movie is boring boring boring. Just like any other movie my mother forces me to watch. The pacing and cliches make me gag. Is there anything interesting in this film yet?
Poms (2019)
L A Z Y
This was one of the laziest written movies I have ever seen. I had to watch it to make my mother happy. The target audience still couldn't possibly think this film is appropriate if they are a decent person. Every single scene is a montage because heaven forbid there is any character development and of course characters need to be abused or dying to make the audience root for these women because like I said; no character development.
Big Mouth (2017)
I laughed every few lines
It's pretty upfront but nothing said is untrue. I can't stop looking at the unique animation and every time they break the fourth wall I cackle more and more. it's so funny.
Russian Doll (2019)
I don't know.
Not like we haven't seen these characters before. I'm kind of over natashas scratchy rambling: playing the same character over and over, we get it. Is that supposed to be captivating? I am not sure if it's worth getting into. I'd be lying if I said "Gotta get up"
isn't addicting
Sex Education (2019)
Just wow.
I laughed. I cried. This show is genius. And I am very picky with what I watch. Devastated there's only one season to watch so far.
Alias Grace (2017)
Yikes
This story is so compelling and well translated that it caused me to want to read the book. Unfortunately I haven't finished the book because this series is so fulfilling. I think I'll listen to the audiobook!
Bridesmaids (2011)
Um?
So weird. I remember this being funny. Watching it again, I didn't laugh once. It's depressing...however the scene where she has to eat an almond with food poisoning will always hold a special place in my heart.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Cliché
It has a very typical modern writing style that all movies have now. Super duper bad guys get their comeuppance. But I was entertained the whole time so I am not going to say it's "bad". I just also know why fans of the original don't like it. It was a little depressing actually- Dino torture porn at some times
Mindhunter (2017)
Couldn't make it past the first episode
Just watch nbc,s Hannibal or broadchurch instead. There's no character development and the conversations are about nothing.
A Series of Unfortunate Events (2017)
Hmmm.
I HAVE read the books and to me there are a lot of issues with this show. As others have said, the adults in this portrayal are dumber than dumb (mr Poe) (I liked that they added his coughing). there is a very juvenile aura about this series when the books were pretty spooky. I suppose they don't want the wrong rating to not be able to have kids watch it. I really really loved Jim Carrey's Olaf from the film. This Olaf by Neil Patrick Harris of course is supposed to be a MURDERER and is too busy being actually funny and doesn't seem to really hate the orphans as he talks to them as if their murder is just discussing what to eat for dinner. He is NOT actually terrorizing them. The acting is OKAY in this but far from great. Aunt Josephine was really having me miss Meryl Streep as well. I like Carmelita spats' portrayal in here. This show may miss a few things but I like being able to see all the books (kind of : there are MANY changes) .... I'd say the worst acting comes from Violet. Every line from her has zero tone and zero facial expression: (one could use the excuse that well derp her parents are dead)... the lines seems forcibly rushed for "comedic purposes??? Anyway. This show was disappointing to me. But I don't think it is fair to call it terrible.
