Endlings (2020)
Great acting, and very important lessons!
While the cg is basic from low budget, don't discount this show. There are important messages throughout that deserve serious attention. From species conservation to supportive connections and chosen family, this show is very impressive.
In the Army Now (1994)
Perfection
I know some will disagree, but this is one of my favorite comedies. Pauley Shore is always delightful and always makes me laugh. The purposeful comedic irony on war (and climate issues) in this movie! Seriously, ahead of it's time...and for those who aren't Pauley fans...I do feel sorry for you.
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Worst nightmare
As a child, I always felt that society subtly brainwashed girls into "believing " that it was their duty and sole reason for existing to procreate. It was never said, or directly suggested, but my greatest nightmare was to be an "incubator." As I have never read the book, I cannot say it was my awakening. However, watching this show has made physically ill. It is everything my adolescent mind had ever dreaded and more, brought to life. I hope that everyone reads the book and/or watches this, at the very least to understand what must never be allowed to happen. People must be allowed to choose their own destiny and not impose their ideology upon others. I hope this is a wake-up call against complacency, at the very least.
Rim of the World (2019)
FANTASTIC!!!
I totally loved this movie! For those who complained about the over the top everything, THAT was what they were going for, AND they totally nailed it. Super action, super hilarious and it was super amazing! Appreciate all the throw-backs, nerdy references and comical wonder instead of overanalyzing because its great fun!
Black Summer (2019)
One of the worst series yet.
Continuity mistakes abound and extremely poor writing. With an entirely generic overall plot and minimal to zero in meaningful dialogue it is impossible to want any of them to survive at all. Characters are flat and lack common sense, which should make them expendable, yet not so much.
The ONLY thing I liked was that Sun kept speaking Korean the entire time, with no English language subtitles, and the other characters would interpret what she was saying by using environmental /behavioral cues. BUT, my S.O. actually hated that, so...yeah...
The Rookie: Heartbreak (2019)
Great and dynamic
Not your typical saccharin Valentine episode. Very dynamic, real and wholly entertaining!
Dancing Queen (2018)
Heart and talent!
Alyssa has grown on me since first seeing her on Drag Race. I love how hard working, determined, positive and real she is in drag life and daily life. This show is amazing, and I do not like reality shows (RuPaul was the only exception...til now)!!!
Hotel Artemis (2018)
Very good
I really enjoyed this movie. It had both action and story. I'm not sure why folks gave such mediocre reviews. I am quite happy with it. And as someone who normally can't wAtch Jodie Foster (because Of Nell), I was very happy with this movie.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Creepy cool
Definitely not like the original tv show, which is good. I am enjoying how dark and ominous everything is and the cinematography is lovely. I emphatically recommend giving this a watch, the entire season.
Alone in the Dark (2005)
2005, enough said
Cgi is lacking, story is also a bit, but is a video game turned movie...and has Tara Reid as an intellectual...take it for what it is, like I did, and you will appreciate it as I have. Furthermore, this has one killer soundtrack, which makes me love it even more.Give it a shot.
Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996)
The system is flawed...
In today's society, its hard to believe that anyone could murder three innocent children. What is even harder to believe is that three teens could be accused of such a crime. This documentary follows the 1994 trials of Jesse Misskelley Jr., Jason Baldwin, and Damien Echols. The documentary shows court footage that was shot during the trial, interviews with the accused, their families, the victim's families and court officials. It also gives details of the case such as a "confession" from Jesse Misskelley, graphic photos of the victims bodies, and etc. When you watch the "whole" story unfold, you can't help but question the validity of the "evidence," especially if you know anything about the law. In addition, you will also question how the police came to the conclusion that these boys were involved in the first place, and why there weren't any investigations into other possible killers. This is definitely a movie to watch. It will either give the viewer a sense of justice or it will make you doubt our legal system. Either way, its up to you to decide.
My Giant (1998)
Funny & Moving...
First off, I absolutely loved this movie. As a Billy Crystal fan, I must say that I was expecting more comedic situations than I actually got. However, it was nice to see him in a role with more depth and emotion. His portrayal of talent agent Sammy was brilliantly performed and uniquely him. In addition, Gheorghe Muresan (as Maximus) was superb in his first film role. When Sammy goes to Romania to visit his client on location he has his world turned upside down. He never expected that he would accidentally find the one person who could change his life. Sammy and Max's journey is unique and moving, and even humorous at times. Plus, the location in Czech Republic where parts of the film were shot, was absolutely beautiful. I have to say, this dramatic comedy had me feeling a variety of emotions. I thought it was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Vampire Journals (1997)
The best vampire movie on the planet!
This is my most favorite movie! I am in love with David Gunn as well. He is an exceptional actor. I only wish that he would do more movies. Plus, Ted Nicolaou is a genius. His writing is profound. You must overlook the fact that this movie was made by a low budget company. It is filmed in Romania and provides great visuals of their architecture and landscape. Plus, a lot of the people in it are from Romania, which gives this film a tremendous amount of credit. Zachary is perhaps the best vampire character ever written. His humanity and unending torture draw you in and make you love him. This story is classic and beautiful. It had me fascinated from beginning to end. It is a must see for any vampire fan.
