Reptile (2023)
A proper film!
This was a proper crime film, one that I realised I missed, as I haven't seen any decent ones in a while.
Great cast and acting, especially del toro. All actors in it were great though. Pleased to see Michael Pitt in this too, after really loving him in Boardwalk Empire.
The story wasn't run of the mill, the music was good, the pace, etc. Just a solid film, that I'd definitely recommend. The only criticism I can give is there a couple of loose ends I'd like tidying up but apart from that it was spot on.
There was suspense throughout and it wasn't easy to guess the ending as it is with others. More films like this please Netflix, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Keep Breathing (2022)
Badly done flashbacks
I gave this a 3 for the first two episodes which were engaging and made me want to watch more. Then came the flashbacks, the writers will probably read the reviews and think these people didn't get what we were going for but the flashbacks were poorly done. They didn't advance the story or make me feel any emotion for the lead character at all.
The flashbacks basically told us the same things about the mum, dad and boyfriend on repeat. It got so boring.
A few flashbacks about the other two men on the plane could have even spiced the flashbacks up a bit but it was just the same old thing. EPS 5 and 6 I actually drifted of fir a few minutes.
It's also marketed on Netflix as 'dark, emotional and adventure' there's hardly any adventure, wasn't really dark and there was little emotion. I'd call it mediocre romance drama. Flashbacks galore with a bit of survival thrown in.
Horrid Henry: The Movie (2011)
Great fun!!
My son loves this and I can see why, it's funny, a good story and there's a few bits of entertaining singing. It's basically good fun for kids. No need for the low ratings, it's great!
The King's Man (2021)
Brilliant!
I loved this film, the true to life aspects woven into the story I really enjoyed and was done well. The action was great, really original fight scenes, filmed originally too. The story running throughout was perfect with a good balance of emotion. It was exciting and enjoyable. Great acting by the lead characters as well, who you really root for. There isn't any areas I could say needed improvement, it was the best film I've seen in a long time! How this is not rated higher on IMDb is beyond me!
Insatiable (2018)
Fun!
This is a good, fun modern comedy. All the characters are great and the storylines keep you entertained. It deserves a higher rating than it has, I loved it! Wish there was a season 3.
Suburbicon (2017)
Deserves a higher rating
I really enjoyed this film, it was different, tense and had a story line that kept me gripped throughout. Ignore low reviews and give this a go, you wont regret it.
We Hunt Together (2020)
Different, entertaining, modern!
I binged watched all of this and really enjoyed it. It was different from the norm, had a serious subject matter yet managed to have light hearted bits and was really entertaining. Loved the characters too, fingers crossed for another series!
The Invisible Man (2020)
Great!
Great acting by everyone, full of suspense and avoided cliches and cheesiness. This was clever and entertaining. Would definitely recommend.
Annie (2014)
Great!
Can't believe the negative reviews! This was fun, modern, funny and entertaining. Good for kids and adults and there's a great cast too. Don't let the reviews put you off.
Underwater (2020)
Great!
I loved this film, it gave me exactly what I wanted... suspense, action, deaths. It was really well made, believable and got straight into the story. Good characters, good acting and I was thoroughly entertained.
Dumb and Dumber (1994)
The Best!
The funniest, stupidest, no agenda driven film of all time! I love this film!
Power: Reversal of Fortune (2020)
Great Episode!
I really enjoyed this, I thought it was well written, well acted and although not a main character, Rashad is a strong one meaning he could hold his own for a full show.
Great to see how everything tied together and he was able to make his comeback into politics.
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Loved it!
Ignore the critics. You get exactly what you want out of a Rambo film....action, violence, traps and death! Rambo is on fire! Plus it's done in a believable way (as believable as Rambo can be) considering he's in his 70s. Great story too. It was fast paced and less than 90 minutes long so I was entertained the whole way through.
Sanditon (2019)
Why the negative reviews?!
This is a great show. Great characters and a good story. I love Jane Austin and I'm really enjoying this show, I don't understand the negativity.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
Great!!
Great action packed movie that kept me entertained throughout. Brilliant stunts, lots of car crashes, bombs and guns with a good bit of drama thrown in - exactly what you expect from this type of movie.
All the actors were great and in my opinion this was the best film out of the franchise.
Apostle (2018)
Great horror film
I really don't understand the negative reviews. This had a good storyline, was intense throughout and kept my interest and intrigue. It's also quite a bit different to the usual 'scary' movie.
Ignore the negative reviews and definitely give this a watch.
The Silence (2019)
Don't understand the negative reviews!
This was a good film, good acting, good plot and kept me entertained and tense throughout. I really don't understand why people are reviewing it so negatively.
I really enjoyed it and if you are a fan of this type of film then I think you will enjoy it too.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Great!
I'd heard mixed reviews about this film. I went in knowing it was going to be long, knowing there were going to be different story lines and knowing that it was a Quentin Tarantino film!
The reality of Sharon Tate and the Manson Family mixed with the fictitious main story was great. The characters were excellent as were Leonardo, Brad and Margot Robbie. All the supporting actors were brilliant too, including Bruce Lee!
I understand that some people won't 'get it' but if you did then you'll find that this film was different, entertaining, funny, violent- all the things you want from a Tarantino film.
Berlin Syndrome (2017)
Different, simple, tense
I liked how simple the concept of this was, it was believable too. Despite the simplicity I didn't get bored, it was tense, creepy at times and I rooted for the girl, wondering what would happen at the end.
I liked the way we didnt find much out about either of their backgrounds too, it focused on the here and now and did it well. The lead actors were great.
Midnight Special (2016)
Something different
Different, smart, well written film with superb acting. This kept me engaged and interested throughout and was different to all other movies I've seen recently. Deserves a much higher rating than what it has on here.
Copycat (1995)
Great thriller
Great writing, great acting and a great concept that sets it apart from other serial killer films.
The Bleeder (2016)
Great Biopic
This was a brilliant film. All the characters were great, as were the actors playing them. I was entertained from start to finish and routed for the main character throughout, despite his flaws. The fact this was true made the film even better. Great biopic and really interesting story.
Us (2019)
Great then not so great...
Great premise and the I'd say the first half of the film was really good and entertaining. I'd say up until they made it out of the eughbours house was really good. Then things just got stupid and confusing.
The character of the dad changed, he went from cool and strong to annoying and weak and the whole story and concept of 'us' had a big, complex explanation with people joining hands around the world. It just lost it's way and should have kept things simpler. If the action was centred round the holiday home like the first half and the ending was more simple this would have been such a great film.
The Society (2019)
Watch Under the Dome Instead
I don't understand all the positive reviews! The premise of this is great but it's the characters that bother me. There's lots of strong females characters which is great but its massively at the detriment of the men. There's only a couple of good male characters, the rest....either dumb jock, bit of a creep or weak. I love that theres strong, independent women but that doesnt mean there can't be strong, alpha men too.
So apart from the weak male characters, there's also a lot of annoying characters and no ones seems too set on finding out why they're in this situation or where anyone else is!
If you're after a 'stuck in a town' show then Under the Dome is much better than this!
Leatherface (2017)
It was good!
I really don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. It had a good story - wondering who leather face would be, plenty of blood and gore and the typical cop trying to get his revenge. Stephen Dorff was great in his role, as was everyone else. This film kept me entertained from start to finish and was exactly what I hoped it would be. Definitely worth a watch!
