Garage Sale Mysteries: Searched & Seized (2020)
Like meeting an old dear friend
Cannot explain how happy I was to see that there was another Garage sale mystery film I hadn't seen! So sad they don't make them any more, but oh well.
It's probably my favourite Hallmark mystery series because I love Lori, love her character who is just nosy enough, but not annoying. Absolutely love that Jen is married, and they don't waste time on finding her a love interest (like they do in 99% of the mysteries).
This installment was good as always. There's a proper garage sale, there's some humor, there's a decent mystery, there's lovely Dani, there are marvelous Jen's coats.
Too bad it must be the last one, because even a mediocre GSM is better than most new Hallmark mysteries.
Recipes for Love and Murder (2022)
Not a fan
I'm sorry, but I didn't like it.
Yes, beautifully shot - thanks to the marvelous nature of Africa and the production crew who shot the cooking process. It was stunning!
But that's where it ends for me.
The series is unbelievably slow. Maybe if it was one case per episode it would work better.
The main character is... well, kinda boring. I know she's an introvert, but she doesn't have to be a dull introvert! Always sits there with blank expression and "shows compassion".
The only somewhat interesting character is Jessie - she's active, driven, fun. But not interesting enough to wait for another season.
One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery (2024)
Actually a good one
I actually enjoyed this film. The mystery was quite alright. The characters were enjoyable.
The setting - not so much. The college was too cheesy and fake even for Hallmark.
I know I'm probably the only one, but I didn't miss Mike. Never were a fan of his, he was OK, but nothing more.
Don't mind the new DA, he's quite something. Not sure if I see him as Hannah's boyfriend though. I'd rather watch Delores flirting with him. Don't understand why he was the one to go looking for Hannah with the cop though. He was doing a lot of things that DAs don't really do...
Loved Norman being part of a sleuthing team and a proper hero. Not just a dorky admirer.
What I didn't like: still not a fan of Eden Lake being a big city, because it sure looks like one now. And don't understand why we still need another sister when Andrea comes so often (thank God!!!). Bring her husband too!
Hannah looked weird in first scenes, like she did something to her face. Maybe the lighting. Same about Andrea.
Good film anyway.
CrimeTime: Freefall (2024)
One of the best
99% of new Hallmark mysteries are astonishingly bad (and the bar isn't really high). Not this one!
Loved both leads, they are fun together, fun on their on. I was afraid Lyndie Greenwood's character would be fake and irritating, but actually she was cute. As in quirky cute.
Loved other characters. The mother, the realtor, the cop boss, etc. Family members in these films are often... just there, just wasting screentime, but not in CrimeTime.
Even the kids were not annoying (and I expected them to be annoying).
So I hope it won't be a one time thing like many others.
This is seriously the first good Hallmark mystery since Curious Caterer.
Mystery on Mistletoe Lane (2023)
Still prefer a murder mystery
Still prefer a murder mystery over a Christmas mystery, but it's an ok movie.
Some very stupid details - like that familt didn't look at the back wall of the house until the ginger bread house situation. Really?
But the most annoying part is the Heidi's voice. Such an irritating cracking raspy voice! Not the sexy raspy, but simply killing your ears raspy.
Victor Webster is fine, children are fine - pleasant surprise! Love the Linda character and actress.
Overall it's better than usual Hallmark Chrismas movies about saving a cookie factory in a small town or something, but cannot be really considered a mystery.
The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell (2018)
Very long and pretty Instagram video
I love Christine to bits, I follow her on Instagram, so I was very excited to watch this show.
Cannot say I'm very impressed. It's really fun to look at, but 99% of the tips are absolutely useless. Christine shows only the finishing touches, and most of them are quite difficult. I try not to think how she did the rest. I wouldn't be able to do it even with an instruction. Yet an instruction would be great!
The puppet show is kinda weird. The plot is not especially entertaining, some jokes are quite funny though: who is she talking to???
Still it's a very nice show to watch because Christine is beautiful, the house is stunning, the puppets are alright. Every little detail is so damn pretty! I just enjoy looking at all those magnificent things!
It's like going through Christine's Instagram account - uber pretty, no idea how she does it.
