terribly boring
8 January 2020
I understand that they probably wanted to convey a feeling of what it is like to live in a boring little town but they overdid it. It was way too much and without any humorous elements. The man-eating parts were simply discusting. A total waste of time.

terribly long
29 December 2019
I waste of time. Dicaprio played his role very well and so did Brad Pitt. there were some funny scenes in it but all in all it is way too long and not much happens in all the time. I loved the dog scenes though, for that I am glad that I eventually watched it but otherwise it is not worth it. The 'story' is told in almost 3 hours and there are about 2 suspenseful scenes in it. The main part is the last 10 or 15 minutes and that's it.

very good

I disagree with the previous review, I don't think that this series would be a remake of the Scandinavian series: the bridge. Apart from the basic situation that a dead body is found at the border of the German and Austrian border there are no other similarities. I found this series a lot more interesting than the Bridge, but tastes differ. In this one I found the characters a lot more realistic and also more sympathetic. My favorite was the Austrian inspector with his disillusioned attitude. It's worth watching that's for sure.

not as good as it is praised
15 September 2019
I watched the British version of this and it was not a nice series to watch. The boss there was horrendous and simply unbearably irritating. The American version is a bit lighter and funnier but the top manager is almost as annoying as his British counterpart. I watched the first season and I really hated this petty, stupid, selfish, irritating and ignorant character but I was curious about the other characters so I kept watching and sometimes it was really hilarious. Especially when Michael & Jen demonstrated how a dysfunctional relationship 'works'. Despite of this when I reached the middle of season 4 I decided to give it up entirely. So in my opinion the co-stars are very good and I only watched the show because of them but at some point I found the stupidity of the manager too annoying to watch it any longer.

oh, dear

Warning: Spoilers
I had probably to high expectations because I didn't like this movie at all. It was most of the time boring. Yes, there were little funny scenes, but nothing that would have made the whole film experience any better. I don't know why the vomiting scene had to be done twice. It was discusting enough the first time. It was also a bit unbelievable that one of their band mates died after he avoided a collision with a reindeer and had a bit of a rough stop with his van and the same time when the rest of the team jumps off a cliff a and lands on another cliff, no injuries or harm is done to any of them. Not that it had many realistic scenes. For me it was a waste of time.

fun movie

Warning: Spoilers
It was a funny film with some sad moments in it. The funniest part in it was the 'fight scene' and the scenes of Torkel Petersson. I loved the ending, when the grandpa met his grandson the first time. It's all in all a nice, entertaining movie and don't you think that Torkel Petersson looks pretty much like Prince William on this film poster?

great first season, not so good second
3 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The first season was brilliant in my opinion. It was very exciting and it was different from what I've seen so far. The second season was mostly irritating. The American president has disappeared. The super intelligent psychologist finds the place where she is held captive and goes there on her own. Why?? She leaves her cell phone behind and she doesn't even notice it. Then when she finds the president, the president refuses to ask for help because she doesn't trust anyone. This is a plausible explanation according to the psychologist, so she doesn't even think about notifying her husband, who is a policeman and she just stays with the president in an abandoned industrial area. In the end, after they spent about 2 days at this lovely environment, the psychologist gets in contact with a doctor and after she too arrives, they still remain where they are, instead of calling the police. This whole concept I found very irritating especially because the husband of the psychologist was a sort of model husband I think almost everyone could wish for (maybe not everyone is attracted to his appearance, but that is subjective anyway, but his character traits were appealing - I know this is subjective too). And the final solution is also a bit whacky but I don't want to reveal everything from the second series. All in all it wasn't bad, only the first season was a whole lot better.

scary
23 February 2019
I didn't know much about this movie, almost nothing. I found the first couple of minutes very scary and disturbing. The atmosphere was frightening and the whole story somewhat obscure and mysterious. I didn't know where it was going. The ending was a big disappointment for me. I don't know whether it is connected to the guy, who played the son or just the storyline I didn't like. The actors were otherwise very good, especially Toni Collette. I wouldn't watch it for a second time, that's for sure.

I never watched the original film so I had nothing to compare this film to but I found it very boring. I stopped watching it after 37 minutes.

Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021)

not as good as the previous ones
12 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as the other narcos series. There were some exciting scenes but apart from that the first couple of episodes were not so intriguing. And I didn't like the part about Miguel Angel that he appeared as some sort of romantic character, spending time alone in his office, thinking about his business and his long dead wife. I liked in the previous series that the characters were displayed from every possible angle and their flaws were also shown. This time however it was as if they tried to make him look more sympathetic. The short appearance of the members of the Cali cartel and Escobar made the series better and it was amusing to see them again. Despite of this I enjoyed this show and I hope to get the sequel soon.

El Chapo (2017–2018)

great but narcos is better
1 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed watching narcos and also this series but in the end it was too much for me. In narcos you can see the things the DEA and the local police are trying to do e.g. against Escobar and you can pick one or two characters you like. But in this one you can be fascinated and disgusted at the same time of the doings of El Chapo and the politician (fictional character who represents the corrupt politicians according to an article I read after the series) who sees a ladder in him to the top of the government. The series is about their game and how they play it. The work of the DEA is not shown at all, they appear here and there but they remain in the background. I felt really sorry for all the poor people who had to suffer and mostly die because of the direct or indirect consequences of the decisions either the drug lords or the politician made. It is a great series, I believe it shows the world of the drug lords very realistically which is why it is a rather frightening experience.

The Lesson (2014)

very disturbing
25 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It was not easy to watch this woman's struggle. She was 'blessed' with that incompetent, stupid and alcoholic (a very nice combo) husband of hers and the situation she got into because of him. What I didn't understand is why did she have to bear the whole burden on her own? Her useless husband didn't do much and she was the only one who tried to solve the situation. This I didn't understand. The other thing that I didn't comprehend is why she had to be so pride when she went to ask for money from her father? I totally understand that she didn't like him and blamed him for past events but still in her hopeless situation he would have been willing to give her the required money. I wanted to stop watching the film after the loan shark made her the 'offer' how she could pay her debts because I was sure that she ended up a prostitute. Well, it wasn't the case because she robbed a bank instead, hahha. So the ending wasn't that tragical because she could temporarily solve the problem with the loan shark but what happened after that? Did she live happily ever after? I doubt it. Maybe she was found by the police or if she wasn't she spent her days wondering when they get to her. It is an exciting movie nonetheless but also a very sad one.

so booring
21 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I am not a fan of the Marvel comics characters or films but this one was so far the worst I've seen. It took me 3 days to get to its end. The CGI bad guy looked rather basic, and I found it irritating. Batman looked a bit fat and even Alfred seemed more capable than him. The only positive happening in the movie is the resurrection of Superman.

very exciting
14 June 2018
First I was a bit disappointed, I had no expectations at all, but the first episode was a bit slow for me. I kept on watching because of the nice scenery it plays on. The whole police investigation looked like a sort of chaos, they were tapping in the dark and the small details they found out just didn't add up but then there was a turning point and after that every little puzzle came to its place. It was very exciting and the places where they made the film were really breathtaking.

something different
10 June 2018
I liked this movie, especially the performance of Robin Williams. He appeared very authentic in the role of a person who is pushed into a series of very tricky situations which he tries to manage the best of his knowledge. What I didn't like though that was the Hungarian cast. I found Peter Rudolf's acting simply annoying. His whole acting and the way he spoke was exaggerated and irritating. Janos Kulka wasn't that bad, but to be honest I don't understand why they had to be a part of this movie in the first place. Well, anyway they don't appear too often in the film to ruin it entirely and the other characters were well enough to make them forgettable. It's a film worth seeing and its music is pretty good too.

Altered Carbon (2018–2020)

very boring
25 May 2018
I watched only the first two episodes and hoped for a sudden turn of events which could have made the series somewhat interesting but it never came so I gave up watching it.

I found the characters very annoying. In these two episodes there were so many unnecessary scenes no one cared about. For example when the policewoman is having dinner with her mother - the mother keeps on talking but nothing relevant is said and the policewoman is annoyed the whole time - well, during the whole series, I guess, because that's her main character trait. 'She is a lonely fighter against the world' who behaves especially hateful toward the main character therefore one can guess that probably they will have the love story of the century by the time the story reaches its end. (well, maybe not, but if I had to bet, I would say that at least they will have a one-night-stand - which is also a cliché again).

I found it generally very predictable, boring and constructed, which is an interesting thought because every film is put together of constructed little pieces - but the sad thing is that in case of this series I found many scenes very artifical, which also shows how well the actors were able to incorporate the roles they were supposed to play. So all in all a waste of time.

exciting story
16 May 2018
When I started to watch this series I had no idea what to expect, except for the icy atmosphere, which was obvious from the posters of the series. The first two episodes were rather slow and I began wondering why am I watching it in the first place? But I kept watching it and then there was a turning point and all of the sudden I became intrigued and all those many characters that were presented, gained a meaning and purpose. At this time I was already hooked up and there was no going back. I am happy that I didn't give it up in the beginning because it turned out to be an exciting adventure into a hopeless cold world.

I wanted to like this movie, but I couldn't
7 May 2018
I liked the idea of this whole conscience transfer thing or whatever it was. There were some brilliantly done action scenes too but all in all it was too long and in the end I almost fell asleep. Especially in the middle of the film when there were those 'tender moments' with the family of the character of Ryan Reynolds. I didn't like the character of Kevin Costner either. They tried to make him more sympathetic but that failed in my opinion. It is an easily forgettable and mostly boring film.

great first season, not so great second
6 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the league of gentlemen and inside nr. 9 before this series and I enjoyed the first season very much. It has a sort of weird kind of humour which is exaggerated at times but all in all very enjoyable. My favorite characters were Dawn French and the theatre group which performed 'snow white'. So all in all I have a very positive opinion about the show but for me the story ended with season one. It left open some questions but for me it was complete that way. Nonetheless I looked forward to seeing season 2 and it was a bit of a disappointment. I watched only the first two episodes and that was enough. Maybe the killing of the former characters was a bit far-fetched for me. And the new characters were not so interesting either. So in my opinion the first season was great but the second not so much.

nice entertainment
4 May 2018
I had no expectations at all and probably therefore I was positively surprised when I watched this series. Some people made comparisons to Game of Thrones which I don't understand. Game of thrones is an exceptional series and I couldn't say one other series which could be on the same level with it. The other thing is that is not a documentary. There were a lot of critics about that too. All I can say is that if leave your prejudice behind you might get entertained when you watch it. It is funny at places and I loved the character of Nikolaj Lie Kaas. The torture scenes were the only things I didn't like because they were too detailed and realistic for my liking. Otherwise it is worth to watch.

it would be a pity not to have a second season
4 May 2018
I hope there will be a second season because there are several questions left open. I really liked the characters and I liked especially that within the main story there are several smaller stories around the main characters. I can only recommend this series and I hope for a sequel.

a disappointment
2 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I had very high expectations of this film and probably because of that it was a huge disappointment. I didn't understand the characters. I mean what did they expect? One does something to the other one and the counterpart reacts to that. Then the reactions become more and more violent. And it is astonishing how the characters seem to be unaware of the consequences of their handlings. The other thing is that it is very slow-paced. I can imagine that back in 1999 it was a hit but now in 2018 it is simply slow and boring at places. Someone wrote that the scene where Kim Bodnia apologizes to her girlfriend in tears - spoiler alert: after he kicked the crap out of her and because of that she lost her baby- is a rather romantic sort of apology. Well, I see it differently. Violent men towards women are in general pathetic therefore I couldn't see any romance in it. So all in all it is watchable but there are a lot of better Danish movies around.
