Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

Killed all my nostalgia
11 October 2022
I'm not a Hocus Pocus super fan or anything, but I have always thoroughly enjoyed the first movie since I was young.

The sequel took my happy feelings about the first one and curb stomped them into the ground. Seriously, this movie is absolutely terrible. I literally felt no emotion while watching it other than tiny sections provoking a small sense of sadness and anger within me. It genuinely felt like a parody of the first movie, and a serious cash grab for Bette Midler and the other washed up actresses.

The jokes weren't funny, the spontaneous musical scenes were lame, and the acting was below subpar (by everyone).

I know it's supposed to geared towards the younger crowd, but how can ANYONE actually watch and enjoy this mess. Some questions are just best left unanswered.

Despicable Characters

The movie as a whole was alright, mainly because Peter Dinklage was it's saving grace. The probably absurd plot (I don't believe this situation could happen to elderly people) and the feminist overtones with absolutely evil "antiheroes" as the main characters really turned me off. That said I have never hoped main characters of a movie would be killed off as much as these. I hate them with all my heart. I changed from original rating from 2 to 7 because of the ending. I LOVED IT! : )

An Unknown Masterpiece

I love shows about outer space (that's what got me intrigued to check this one out). Simply put this show is probably one of my favorite animes right now and it's a total shame that (as of writing this) it only has 6 reviews.

To summarize without any spoilers - a group of high school kids take a field trip to another planet and end up getting lost in space.

That is a very, very simplified version of this show. As you get deeper into it there are many complex elements that arrive leading to questions that vary from political to semi philosophical. There is hardly any violence in this show, but the adventure itself is a wonder to watch and the character building is among some of the best I've seen for only having 12 episodes.

This was such a refreshing show in the sci-fi genre that I want to buy the manga just to have it (and I don't own any manga!)

Just watch this show and enjoy the adventure.

10 thumbs up

I still consider myself somewhat of a novice anime watcher, but it seems like the more shows I watch the better they get.

I absolutely LOVE this show. It's take on the superhero genre is absolutely genius. Compared to other anime shows, the pacing of this show is relatively quick (compared to shows like Fairy Tail that have a TON of episodes). There are very few (if any) filler episodes so you know each time you watch it will be part of the overall story. The character development is great, which would seem hard to do with so many different types of heroes/villains, but it's pulled off surprisingly well. Lastly the fight scenes are awesome, with two in Season 3 that jump to top of mind (best season imo).

The first few episodes were kind of slow, but if you stick with it you'll be hooked. I can't wait for season 4 to come out!

10 thumbs up

Straight up adrenaline

Let me throw this out there.....I don't usually look at reviews before I watch something. With that said, I had NO idea what was in store before I started watching this show.

Simply put - this is flat out the most absurdly motivating, surprisingly deep, ridiculously awesome show I've ever seen.

Question: Does it matter that at a few points I said to myself "I'm not really sure I understand what exactly is happening right now"?

Answer: NO!

This show is so over the top it really doesn't matter if you 100% understand whats goin on at certain points (don't get me wrong the story is SUPER good and well thought out). That's not the point. The point is that whatever you believe to be within your grasp....go for it!

Just watch this and enjoy it for what it is....EPIC!

I really, really liked this
25 July 2019
To be completely honest, I liked Spider-Man:Homecoming regardless of how much criticism it received. I LIKED it (that means it was good), but I was still a little disappointed because I LOVE Spider-Man and felt like it just lacked something. With that said I was definitely going to see this movie at some point but it wasn't one of my top priorities because I knew it would be at least OK.

This movie blew all my expectations out the window. All I will say is it has just about everything you could hope for in a Spider-Man movie and the performance from Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was absolutely spectacular.

Go see this movie

Not what you expect
11 July 2019
I've got to be honest, the first few episodes had me doubting what exactly what I was watching. I decided to stick through it and man...I'm glad I did. One word to describe this show....unique. I haven't watched the whole series yet, but with each episode I get that "what happens next" feeling. I am still relatively new to watching anime (I've watched a few series), but I can definitely say this is one I enjoy.

Europa Report (2013)

Eye Opening
28 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Coming in to the movie I wasn't expecting a whole lot. I had never heard of it, and I saw quite a few mixed reviews (most of which were positive). Afterwards I was blown away. The realism this movie has regarding the actual discipline of different sciences is pretty spot on, as well as the claustrophobic feeling of being alone in space while facing an inevitable death. Even so, the protagonists all kept hope alive throughout most of the movie, going to show the sacrifice that human beings will go through in order to further our understanding of our place in the universe. The acting was great, and for a moment I thought the movie might actually be some undercover footage of something we (regular citizens) weren't supposed to know about (until I realized one of the characters was actually in quite a few movies/shows). This just goes to show that the crew in charge of the film did an extraordinary job. Crazy to think that in 2022 there is actually a planned mission to go to Europa, and even though it won't be a manned mission it will still be an amazing achievement for mankind. Two thumbs up for this movie.

Hit me deep
2 November 2018
I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting much from this show. Not only because I didn't know anything about it, but because I can usually get through the horror genre pretty unscathed. Not this one. I've seen mixed reactions to this show. Many not finding it scary at all, and many finding it downright disturbing. I fall in the latter.

If blood, gore, and shock jumps are what you crave when watching a horror flick, you will get some of it here, but that is not the point of this show. This show has psychological horror written all over it.

I'm not going to say anything that will ruin the show for those who haven't seen it. I will say that if you pay attention and listen to the concepts with an open mind - it can really strike a nerve.

This is only the third review on IMDB I have written, but imo this is one of the most emotional, disturbing, well written, perfectly cast shows I have ever seen. For a new front runner to be one of my favorite shows of all time I had to write another review.

PS. Try not to watch it in a house alone.

Superbly mediocre
14 July 2018
I'm going to make this short and sweet. I've been waiting for the next episode in the Star Wars Legacy, and all my waiting was not rewarded. I don't know if it's Disney, but this was just not a good movie - not a bad one, but definitely not a good one. The actors did alright, but the plot and some of the scenarios were just ridiculous. Certain things happen and you ask yourself - how did they get there, or how did they know. Situations are just implied and it does not come off in a good fashion. It took me 2 sittings to get through this movie, so I honestly can't say I'm super hyped about the next one. It's a shame too because the Star Wars franchise (the original trilogy) are some of the best movies of all time. Thanks Disney.

A Masterpiece
6 May 2018
This movie - WOW. Everything about it is amazing. After years of speculation and anticipation Marvel/Disney truly delivered on their promises. I'm not going to spoil anything for those that haven't seen it yet, but I will say that this is the best Marvel movie to date.

The combination of the Avengers, the Guardians, and all the other heroes and supporting characters from each of the 18 movies leading up to this is a feat in itself. All the characters have remained true to their past versions, and the proper introduction to Thanos was that indeed - proper.

I have been a marvel fan my entire life, so when I read reviews from casual viewers who were disappointed or had trouble believing how Thanos can do things/overpower characters they are used to seeing (yes there are many bad reviews), all I have to say is they know nothing. In the comics Thanos is an unbelievably powerful character, so my advice to the casual viewer who doesn't know much about these characters is to get informed. If you know what you are walking into you will be extremely impressed with what you see. It's not just the power perspective of Thanos, but also the emotional aspect of his nihilistic ways that can somewhat be understandable and allow to you see things from his perspective (in no way condoning his decisions).

As for the movie it contains many moments of laughter, great action sequences, and for those with any knowledge of the comics some powerful, emotionally charged scenes.

This movie is now my favorite Marvel movie, which was previously either Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain America Civil War. I left the movie in awe and can't wait to see it again, and a whole year until the sequel is going to feel like a lifetime.

Oh, and see it in IMAX if you can, it was specifically shot with an IMAX lens and it is well worth it.
