The Midnight Sky (2020)
The point
I saw someone writing a review that everything seemed fine, the acting, the production, etc. but wondered at the end what was the point.
A valid question, but to understand this movie you need to put yourself in the shoes of the main character and his connection, or lack thereof, with his biological daughter.
He ran away his entire life from it and then at the end it hit him what he had missed out on his entire life. The final scene seemed a bit out of place when I watched the movie but it just serves as a statement that life is unforgiving. He leaves the conversation devastated, overwhelmed by the emotions of that first conversation with his daughter. He is ready to die. He has saved his daughter and in his mind perhaps redeemed himself of the fact that he never was there for her while growing up.
On the other side of the line, the pair continue on as if nothing happened. A fly might have been zapped instead of Clooney's character being sentenced to death down on Earth and it would made no difference.
It serves to show just how the same event can impact different people based on the circumstances they are in. How a dying parent is grateful that he made even the slightest impact on his child's life and how it goes, basically, unnoticed by that child, through no fault of her own, but based on the fact that he never was the part of her life. And this should have been the punch line that leaves a viewer devastated, however it left most baffled at what just happened.
A good idea, but not the best execution on Clooney's part.
South Park: Mysterion Rises (2010)
Really bad!
I don't know what was with Trey and Matt when they where coming up with this one. I really felt ashamed whenever some scene with Cartman was on. Literally ashamed. In one particular, when he is sitting on the belly of Cthulhu, I couldn't wait it to end!!! I love South Park and the previous episodes where awesome, but this one did not touched the bottom, but rather drilled into it, like the BP in the previous episode. I can't wait till all this Coon business is over. Sorry you guys but I really didn't like this episode and I had to say something since it apparently didn't bother anyone having in mind the rating for this episode. That might just mean I am crazy but I really did not enjoy this one.
Heroes: Chapter Eight 'Into Asylum' (2009)
Loved it!
I remember when I first started watching heroes, it was a day similar to this. Spring was starting and the day was lazy. I pressed play and expected absolutely nothing from Heroes, since I thought it was just another super hero show that will not be worthy of my attention, luckily I was wrong. The show was lifting and from that moment I just couldn't stop watching it. I patiently waited for the 3rd season and the Villains, which started strong but got to twirled up in its own twist. Then I lost my interest again and switched to Battlestar Galactica which kept me amused for a while, but then the last three episodes turned the new page for Heroes, I am once again the follower. Into the Asylum is one of the better episodes I watched and the highlight of the show is of course the ending that is simply brilliant. The Animals - We gotta get out of this place is just perfect match. It gives you that 70s vibe that is always good to feel, the vibe of something that is going to happen and that is going to be great. Although there is no cliff hanger at the end of the show I cannot wait for the next one, because they have finally realized that the real energy of the show is in the ordinary in these extraordinary people and that they don't need the big drama that surrounded every single sentence of our heroes, they just need to be down to earth as they were in the first season. They need not be idolized, the characters, for us to feel drown to them, they just need to get their human form again. And that is what the ending is giving to us, a simpler times and with that a much higher quality of the show. I loved it!
S1m0ne (2002)
This movie sucks...
After I saw S1m0ne I thought why the hell did I spent last 2 or so hours watching this crap. It's really sad to see such an actor, that Al Pacino is, waste his talents on a role in this movie has one of the most predictable and worst plots in the newer Hollywood cinematography, and that really is a hard to get prize these days, than to see him (Al) starring in a more intellectual and demanding role. It really is a disgrace to see such an actor in such a bad film, when we all know that the son of the godfather can give us much, much more. And what's worse this isn't the only example of this new trend among famous actors in Hollywood. Just look at De Niro and his latest achievements such as Meet the parents 1 and 2, Showtime and others. I guess money works, but it shouldn't work against the fine art of film.
