Selling Sunset (2019)
I don't care what anyone says...
I LOVE this show. Perhaps I'm a bit bias as a woman in real estate, but this show showcases some pretty awesome gals killing it in "the real estate game."
Of course this is a "reality TV show", but Netflix nailed this one, IMO.
Even though it has the same "vibe" (and setting) as "Keeping up with the Kardashians", it's SO much more than that.
It's refreshing seeing a reality show with women that actually WORK. We're walking through the listings with them, getting to know the properties, and understanding why they're in the game in the first place.
Of course there will be drama... that's what carries the show... but at the same time, you really root for each woman as she navigates her own life, on her own terms.
The editing and music is also on point. Bravo to everyone involved. Seriously.
Venom (2018)
ONE OF SPIDERMAN's BEST VILLIANS
I'm seriously wondering what the critics were thinking writing any negative reviews on this movie. I'm wondering if they were paid. Wow. Coming from a huge Spider-Man fan... and If you call yourself a Spider-Man fan... please listen up. One of Spider-Man's best villains, is Venom. Venom's story has always been an interesting one... and this movie/origin story didn't dissapoint. Hardy, as always, and of course in any role he plays... played what I would call an absolutely amazing "protagonist/antagonist" as Eric Brock. He delivered this character in a way that I would relate to Toby Maguire to Spider-Man in 2002. Memorable, amazing, genuine, genius. Just watch it.
On Becoming a God in Central Florida (2019)
Quirky Dark Comedy
I haven't seen a show like this in a while and it is such a refreshing treat. Reminds me of True Blood minus the monsters and the bayou. Kirsten Dunst and everyone in this show totally nail their roles. My only complaint is the accents... I grew up in Florida and as much as Hollywood tries to get it right... Florida is not "the south" so not a whole lot of "twang" going on except for mayyyybbee Jacksonville or along the panhandle since it's so close to the FL/GA line. Other than that? The whole idea of this show is brilliant. Great story, great direction, great acting. Loving it so far.
Black Summer (2019)
So incredibly slow and just plain silly.
I never write reviews but had to agree with hockler-18080. Perhaps I'm a little bias as well, being an avid Walking Dead fan.
I really could only watch until the 4th before falling asleep. MAN is this show SLOW. Also the characters can't seem to figure out the right way to do anything which is beyond frustrating. I don't know if this is really a spoiler but the school part with the kids was entirely unbelievable. Really Spears? How many bullets need to be wasted for you to get that a headshot would suffice?! To top it off there was next to zero dialogue (did the writers even show up for work?), and not even really fun to watch.
Pretty bad. Super bummed. Skip this one.
