Bank of Dave (2023)
Fresh movie which leaves you smiling.
Excellent UK cast and Angus Wrights best performance yet.
Everyone loves a Dave and your going to love Dave Fenwick.
A light hearted comedy which will leave you smiling. A great UK cast which bring this film to life.
Featured in the sleepy and faded city of Burnley, away from the bright lights of London a lawyer heads north to a job which turns into a life changing situation for him.
Without spoiling the whole movie, I will say you will be supporting Dave inside of 30 mins.
As soon as you finish you will be heading online to find out what happened and the big question is.....
Did Def Leppard really perform for him.
Children of the Corn (1984)
Loved as a kid. Now very dated but still a decent film.
I first watched this as a 9 year old and the one scare moment of the film did make me jump a mile.
Linda Hamilton and Peter Hamilton head into Gatlin. A deserted small town in the US. I love how the US has some many empty town in the 80s. I can only guess everyone moved to the cities in the late 70s lol.
Based on the book by Stephen King (which I've never read) this is a very good little horror.
Courtney Gains and John Franklin are absolutely fantastic. Courtney has done more TV work but never have hit the heights I expected after their performance.
Sadly the special effects for the ending were done on a tiny budget and almost 40 years later they do look very lame.
Still very enjoyable and a film I tend to watch every year or so.
Highly recommend. Just close one eye when it comes to the special effects at the end.
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Decent remake but still a mile from the original.
Right first off if you hate fast zombies avoid.
Now you've got over this then it's a pretty enjoyable film.
To be honest the only real connection between this and Romero's epic is the shopping mall.
Characters are pretty average and you don't really care who lives or dies.
Sarah Polley is very good but the rest seem pretty forgettable.
Without giving spoilers away I did sorta enjoy the ending.
One of the better zombie movies made in the last 20 years.
The Owners (2020)
Slow slow film, could have been so much better.
I'm positive when I first watched the trailer this came across as some sort of supernatural twist movie but not the case.
It turned out to just be a break in film gone wrong movie.
Maisie Williams puts in a decent appearance along with the dithering Sylvester McCoy. The rest of the cast come across as annoying and you'd wish they were killed off early on.
Watched on streaming service. Not a film I'll add to my collection or probably watch again.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Good film. Different direction to the first two but not a bad thing
Must say I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Most modern horrors have lost all direction by part 3 and onwards but the direction this goes in was very good, more of a story and mystery to it, however I expect die hard fans to slam it.
John Noble makes a fantastic appearance without spoilers.
My guess is a new director will be found for part 4 and it will go back along the lines of parts 1 and 2.
Cruella (2021)
Shocked.....A great movie
Only watched this as it's good to get back to the cinema and have almost watched everything in the last 2 weeks.
But what a shock.
Stone was fantastic. The story fantastic. Plus Emma Thompson being great without really trying.
The story was a great reverse on what we expected to believe, almost a Tommy from cobra Kai role reversal from bad guy to good.
Well done Disney for not just churning out another average movie.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Please make this the last one.
If you found the first one just ok I'm sure you'll hate the 2nd part.
Clearly made to cash in on the success of the first one not even the normally excellent Blunt can make this good.
It did take me a good hour to realise Murphy was from Peaky Blinders.
Average at best and hopefully the last one.
Dream Horse (2020)
Entertaining movie
Delightful comedy set in the Welsh valleys. Accents were better then expected and an all round good film. Highly recommend for adults as I'm sure the younger generation will find it boring.
