Toma (2021)

Very watchable, cast is very good, production is good, cinematography good, but...

There is no real explenation for what, and why is for that.

Why he is sad, why he go on gambling, why he is alcoholic...

Lot of fameous names, for what sake, only for commercial... Its OK, but its too many jokes around names.

We from Serbia know , but for all around.viewers it is my be a problem.

No politicks in backgeound at all, only some minor from 1991, and thats the shame. TOMA is politic's child of comunism, of lot a trouble from 1968-74.

Constant film music background kills any.

Reasonable use of music film theme.

OK, at the ends TOMA dies, i cried,but...

IT'S too SIMPLE, so many metaphors can be used... but no in this case.

I hope that SERIS can be more deeper thna this.

Not so Dumb & Dumber meet Alan Ford vs. Borivoje Surdilovic... and it's good!

Don't be too strict.

It's hard to write a comedy today.

It is a mixture of Balkan Dumb and Dumber in social-economic transition who meet some strange characters like in ultra popular comics in YU named Alan Ford by Italian authors, in situations like in cult YU series VRUC VETAR - Avanture Borivoja Surdilovica.

GREAT MIX !

Funny acting, good minimalistic directing and fine camera. Funny little music theme. 3 narratives mixed in every single episode combined with main story. Ultra good dialogs and funny situations...

What do you want more ?

After SLATKE MUKE, after 2 years we have some good SERBIAN comedy again.

P.s.

2 episodes are one story.

Episodes are more like 7-7.5 points, but because of jerks who deliberately mud, i vote it by 8.

Magnificent !

This is so good its hurts. Too bad it is not feature-length movie. Balkan paradoxes and every day surrealism, with aphorisms voice over, so universal for any part of the world, even for a technological society. Amazing collection of scenes that are completely not set up. Filmed in Serbia, Republika Srpska and today's Kosovo. Edited with various documentary clips with mesmerizing voice by Nebojsa Glogovac. His voice and specially selected thoughts by aphorists, actually give us the author's thoughts and views about our apocalyptic world. Boris Mitic's literal calls to a duel with those who pollute the world is don quixotic scream by our haunted generations of the nineties.

Second Best Serbian War Movie

Gruesome, anti-war movie in which Velimir Bata Zivojinovic do his life performance. Incredible vignettes directs in stile of real spaghetti western with poetics of Picaso's "Guernica". This is the real version of Serbian "Apocalypse Now", simple, effective, acted in rural stile to perfection. It's hard to understand for foreign viewers in his background politics flavor. I dare to all possible viewers to do some free interpretations of this film on other historical ages of Serbian people: 1804, 1878, 1914, 1941, 1991, 1999 ..... Do some regarding on this scene: Dragan Nikolic attempt suicide on river, Serbian East Bosnia village civil victim, "execution" of German officer, Chetniks-partisan family house divided - flamed over partisan commander, deaf Paja Vujisic, scene in the well, scene in which all villagers rise for repentance....
