Doubt (2008)
Powerful
This movie does exactly what the tell you it will: doubt.
The movie leaves us with moral ambiguity. There are so many questions, and questions within questions. At the end of the day, it's not even if Father Flynn committed what he's been accused of or not. It's every question with that:
If he did do it, is it worth it to out him at the expense of the victim?
If he didn't do it, is the damage already done after this crusade has already started?
The mother has expressed her opinion, is it worth it to go against what she wants? Does Sister Aloysius know what's better for her child than his own mother?
There are a lot of questions within this movie, many of which provide absolutely no answer. It's a movie of moral ambiguity, of whether doing the right thing is always the right thing. Is the right thing worth it if you have to destroy, possibly innocent, people along the way?
Ultimately, the best thing about this movie are not the answers it gives you but the questions it generates. This movie is adapted from a play, which I admit I have never seen, but can probably say the play would be even more powerful than the film. A movie worth seeing and a movie worth recommending.
Druk (2020)
It's the journey, not the destination.
As someone stated, this isn't really a comedy. There are some chuckle worthy parts and some heartwarming parts.
The movie sheds light on the midlife crisis of 4 teachers whose life have become stale. They decide to see whether maintaining a "healthy" alcoholic buzz throughout the day will enhance their professional and personal lives.
Without spoiling it, it goes as you would expect it to. But that isn't the point. It's the journey they go on, the struggles they face, the highs and the lows. It's the bond the characters share and how they lift each other up and are there for one another. It's the journey, not the destination.
This movie was absolutely worth watching. A heartwarming film that sucks you in and takes you through a range of emotions.
Sasquatch (2021)
It's not bad, it's not great - it's okay.
If you're looking to watch a documentary about the mythical creature, Sasquatch, this isn't it.
It's more about the filmmaker trying to get to the bottom of a homicide that happened in Bigfoot country. And while it took 3 hours to get there, the answer didn't really live up to the hype.
That being said, the journey was entertaining. I don't know I'd watch it again, nor would I say I'd recommend it to a friend, but it was entertaining and I enjoyed it. There isn't any heavy lifting involved and there are some twists and turns, but overall if you have time to kill, this'll do it.
