The Umbrella Academy: We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals (2019)
TV Magic
I've read the reviews, I actually agree with the good and bad ones (especially the bad ones)... and...if you've read my reviews you know I'm tight with the star ratings....sometimes the storylines and plot are a little drawn out and impractical...and conversely rushed occasionally, and slow-paced at times.........
Season 1 episode 1...
I Think We're Alone Now!
T.v. magic.
Period.
That scene alone earned 3 more stars from me and locked me into the characters' ...rhythm. When writing, editing, and acting (act((tors)(tresses)) deliver a moment of arguable perfection...it's magic!
ummm...a not-too-complicated, fun series to watch (try not to focus too hard on the plotholes lol)...Hope there's a season 2!
The Orville: All the World Is Birthday Cake (2019)
NO...not at all
Waaaayyyyyyyy too many plot holes to just forgive and forget...astrological signs matching in 3 completely different star systems?? How would a tooth sample determine alien age?? First contact with zero thought about research or safety?? Super pregnant prisoner yesterday not pregnant today, and no guards notice?? Escape the prison to go where exactly?? Kill prison guards and get to leave free and clear...because a star showed up?? Keep your baby under the floorboards to be raised in the worst possible conditions on the entire planet instead of letting it go be praised like royalty?? Less gifts for a joint party even though money isn't a factor?? An admiral quickly abandons TWO high ranking officers?? No diplomatic ship sent to help IMMEDIATELY when they're taken prisoner?? The proof/examples that gillians were so heinous was what exactly???? Prison warden is super cruel why again (because the prisoners actually said they were where they were supposed to be, away from society)?? Why did the prefect WANT 2 extra gillians on his planet instead of, I don't know... COMPLETELY OFF HIS PLANET?? Why is this futuristic ship making Southpark quality videos?? How does it take a scientific starship a month of researching and studying stars to realize there is a very important star missing that went nova?? Why would anyone have sex during the time a pregnancy term would yield a child born as gillian?? Extra lazy writing..... && Big blow out joint party......how many people showed up again?

Manifest: Cleared for Approach (2019)
ZZZZZZZZZ
I liked Manifest...at first. Now....not so much. It's episode 13 and the show is becoming very drawn out, depressing, and redundant. The story/mystery is progressing at a snail's pace, while all of the super intense, brooding, humorless, (seemingly) half dead, white-washed (NSA director Vance was a little interesting...he sure did seem to die for no reason---...anybody seen Lourdes lately??) characters do rather uninteresting things throughout the episode....then out of the depths of monotony somebody goes emotional nova for about 13 seconds, then they talk about those 13 seconds for about 13 minutes.... Manifest in a nutshell is: Let's talk about it...extensively....but let's leave out really important details so we'll have to talk about it again... ie: *Detective says he's letting the crazy man that threw a brick through a window go...fails to mention he's putting tight surveillance on him. *Daughter says she knew about the callings...dad simply says he was trying to protect her...fails to mention why...because people that knew about the callings were dying. Zeke says he killed his sister...fails to convince me that he did literally kill his sister....no surprise he didn't literally kill his sister...After a certain point it's no longer drawing out suspense, it's just overplaying the suspense card. Manifest has become a show about a lot of people that have no idea what's going on...including it's viewers.
Lackluster

Young & Hungry: Young & Bullseye (2018)
Pretty good
So everybody's in a relationship with all fairly entertaining characters...except Yolanda, whose dating endeavor in this episode was pretty funny, and had some of the best scenes....all 4 (3+1 potential) couples set an easy foundation for future antics, I hope the rivalries continue...all in all it was a pretty good episode.....BUT...Young and Hungry could do a lot better with the last second closing jokes... (the brown box joke was the worst...and the previous episode ended with a "they're gonna have sex" joke exit.......#notthebestdessert)
Young & Hungry: Young & Motorcycle (2018)
Sure, why not
Young and Hungry has been a little unfunny recently...This episode brought better energy, cleverness, and (thankfully) less over the top goofiness...Sophia was a lot more realistically charming...actually 5.4 stars, but to be fair, previous episodes left some bad tastes (Young and Hungry wordplay :p) in my mouth...
A dash of redemption maybe??....Sure, why not
Suits: Right-Hand Man (2018)
Yes
Nicely done...
I honestly didn't miss the two big stars that helped make this show interesting...Mike and Rachel. They wrote around them very well, and managed to put me on the hook for the season. Suits isn't for everyone, but the not overly complicated twists of S8 E1 play out smoothly enough from scene to scene to easily keep MY attention... I'd have liked a Jessica update...and the managing partner battle wasn't quite the fight it should have been (Harvey hasn't lost ((or conceded)) that quickly in any fight yet)...The season has opened on a great note....
Nicely done
Me, Myself and I (2017)
No
I watched the pilot....then 5 minutes into episode 2 I pulled the plug
1. It wasn't funny
2. His life isn't interesting
3. The dance floor kiss/choke scene was just bad...everything about it
4. I'm not liking watching a 7th grade girl moving in slow motion...if you aren't in middle school you shouldn't either.
5. His mid life experience (again) wasn't funny...or interesting...or believable
6. 60 year old him...wasn't him...and (again) wasn't funny...or interesting...his lost love is clearly not the same age (and his retirement scene was there for what reason?) and old people being romantic...outside of my interest (like 7th graders being romantic)
7. Kids might relate to 1/3 adults might relate to 1/3 older people might relate to 1/3........so 2/3 of it is unrelatable to everyone
....
Episode 2 five minutes in...remind me (replay it why don't you?) how bad the dance floor kiss/choke scene was...show me a 7th grader walking in slow motion again...and then show me that middle aged Alex moved his little daughter into a garage with him and everybody was all right with it....................
Stop...No
p.s. (again) wasn't funny!
