Napoleon (2023)
Did I Fall Asleep?......Yes, twice.
First off....not quite historically accurate. Secondly....the sound was bad and very hard to hear what they were saying at times. Thirdly....it bored me to death. Joaquin did his part by making the mistake of accepting a role in a movie that should have been played by someone younger. Fourthly......why, just why did you have so many scenes with little to no dialogue? You could have used this time to bring insight into the characters but no, you had to put me to sleep. I spent some time debating if I should go get more butter for my popcorn. At least I was in comfortable seats that reclined giving me a sense of tiredness.
If I would have waited to see this on a streaming service later I would've probably waited.
Champions (2023)
Amazing
Why are people not seeing this movie? The acting is phenomenal. This is a feel good movie that you will not want to get up from till it's over. There are a few surprises that I thought were going to happen but never did. But the real winners are the special needs actors and actresses, Woody Haroldson was only a bonus especially since it reminded me of his days on cheers. I did not have the chance to find out if they did their own singing but if so this movie deserves an award. Cheech and Ernie should have had larger roles but what part they had I enjoyed. It's not only a feel good movie but it was also great comedy. Never underestimate the power of special needs.
Dominion: Sine Deo Nihil (2015)
Awesome but!
Very good but how, just how could you leave us hanging like that. There is so much to understand but you left us period.
The Stand: The End (2020)
Ouch
Great cast. Wish they would have stayed in order because I had to rewind to make sure I didn't fall asleep and missed something. I am sure it will get better. Adding some other information made somethings somewhat clearer that we never saw in the first series.
San Andreas Mega Quake (2019)
Do I have to give a star?
Well. Really 2 helicopter crashes in one day! Let's say there are so many flaws in this movie it makes it unbearable to watch but have to just to see all the low low low budget filming. Hate to say it but Sharknado series was better and that's not saying much.
Runaways: Last Rites (2018)
Bye bye Jonah
Sorry. Never liked him. Glad he is gone but now what. Not freaky person to deal with. Hope that kids and family can become friends again.
I will say though. Beat episode to date.
Blast Vegas (2013)
Hard to Believe
Gave it a 2, because of humor. What happened to Elvis? After we were attacked by a man eating tiger? He died. Again? Now considering that the Stratosphere is huge and it falls down into an arena and is very small there, it makes it very hard to believe. If you notice you can see an awful lot of newspapers around but where is the wind that would have moved them around. I love the rolling Hot Air balloon that destroys things on the side of the road but most of those things are way out of reach from the balloon. And when does a snake push someone into a trash compactor. I know SYFY means well and the plots are good but really, take the time and spend a little money.
1313: Bigfoot Island (2012)
Not Bad Not Good
For a series of movies that are under the 1313 name, this is one that was probably less of a plot than the other ones. Filming was not all that bad but there were a few noticeable mistakes. I will admit the scenery is breathtaking.
As for Bigfoot, did not know he was ever portrayed having red fur.
There is a second person walking down the road but with no backpack, suitcase or anything.
As for the girl, unfortunately, what does she have to do with the movie? I am beginning to think that maybe she is bigfoot.
Apparently, cell phones get great reception on this island of which I have only seen one home. Low budget but great cinematography. Sort of.
Hate Crime (2005)
Intrigued
If i spoil this movie for someone, i apologize now.
First, it was thought to have been about neighbors not liking neighbors, but as I watched more of it, i was intrigued. I believe everyone has the right to their own opinion, but when you are a "man of GOD", you do not have the right to harm the innocent.
Second, if you are a victim or involved with a victim, you do not have the right to harm the guilty. We do have what we call law and this movie portrays, what I am assuming, the lack of any cooperation or involvement by the law.
The actors in this movie put their souls into their characters and why this movie never made it big is beyond my comprehension. There are several other movies that portray "Hate Crimes", but not as jolted turn of events as this one.
I recommend that you watch this movie "without" your jolted minds and see it as it is done. I guarantee you will watch it all the way through and just sit and go "wow"........
World Trade Center (2006)
Personal Loss, Good Outcoming
I am not good at writing these but I will try.
First off I would like to say that this move was a bit long but worth seeing. After having lost a family member and a friend to 9/11 I am happy to say that at least Oliver Stone's work has shown a joyful side of that day. He took a tragedy and made a welcoming happy ending out of it.
Some of the original live scenes from that Tuesday Morning showing on the screen, I said to myself that if they are showing this stuff I am going to walk out, I could not go through that again. Thank you Oliver and Paramount for not doing that.
Well as for the movie, it was compelling and good natured and showed how 2 people in that situation and pull together and keep each other alive. It shows that faith can help. Keeping up with the tradition of true story lines, you could have kept Jesus and the water bottle out of the picture, that was just plain stupid.
As for emotions, this movie should not bring tears to anyones eyes except for the joyous moment of life being pulled out of tragedy.
The only emotion part of this movie that affected me was the ending when they showed statistics at the end. That part I will not see again when the DVD comes out, it is only a sad reminder to me of my loss.
Eight Below (2006)
Beautifully done
Cannot give this movie a 10 but I will give it an 8.
Its hard to see someone leave a loved one behind (yes a loved on, animals are not something you can just throw away) As far as I see it, based on a true story, this movie was one that I did not even think of pausing. When you have a family of animals that are very attached to each other it is nice to see a storyline of what happens when something tragic can happen.
The scenery was very generous about the time they had to spend alone in that harsh of a winter.
I also would be one of those people who would go back to get the dogs.
I will buy this DVD to add to my collection.
King Kong (2005)
This movie stunk.
I clicked on the spoiler box because I was not sure if I was giving anything away in my review. I don't normally write these but I had to on this movie.
Why did they remake this movie, why could they have left well enough alone.
The worst scenes ever made.
1-The pond in the park. Ice skating with king Kong, get real. This took no brains to even think of doing. Lets put a girl (mind you in the middle of winter with no coat or boots) in the arms of a big ape, set them on a pond (hopefully not in Central Park, that would give them a bad name) and have him scoot around on his butt like he was ice skating.
2-Then lets put him up on the Empire State Building again in the middle of winter, but the skies don't look that way, oh lets not forget that the girl is scantily dressed still. Then bring in the planes and shoot bullets at Mr. Kong. Even if he was supposed to be 10 times the normal size of a great ape, the bullet holes are of normal size, wow, how ingenious.
3-Nice bugs on the island, kinda creepy but still, nice bugs.
4-Lets fall of the building and land on the street, OK good one there but, when you have a giant ape lying on the ground, you could have made him look like he was again 10 times the normal size. It makes you wonder, did we finish this movie too fast or did we just run out of money.
I am so glad that I did not pay any kind of $$ to see this awful remake. The hype made me originally want to see it at the theater, but I am so glad I did not.
Good luck on the next remake and hope it does better.
NOTE: I tried to watch this movie again on cable. Am i crazy? Why. It was even worse the second time around. I could not even finish it. I saw more unbelievable stupid things this movie has to offer for those who have not perception of what Kong was all about in the early days of film. Please shoot me if I try to watch it again.
