Dad's Army (1971)
Brilliant as Usual
In my opinion dads army is thee best British sitcom of all time. I believe that if you just watch one episode of the show you cannot judge in completely on that one episode, (this include the movie) You must at least watch a series of this show, get inside the characters, become familiar with there surroundings and the situations which they are in. When you become familiar with the show then it will start appealing to you. Now the movie has a few changes to the series which is slightly disappointing, but it still works. Watch a series or two of the show first before you watch this. You'll not be disappointed. Good episode to watch is "No Spring for Frazer"
The Exorcist (1973)
Best horror movie in history.
The Exorcist is like the Mother of all horror films, I'm a huge fan of stuff like Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween etc however no film had an effect on me like the Exorcist. From the opening scene right until the end everything seems to be extremely tense. Often in today's society people say they found the Exorcist funny, these people are idiots. Usually what happens is they have no understanding of the film they just take out little bits of it such as masturbation scene etc and laugh at them. What I recommend you do is put yourself in the position of Regains mother in the film, imagine like that was your own daughter or younger sister that had came possessed it would not be so funny then. Watch the film from the very beginning take it all in and try to understand it, and then you will see that this picture really is the most freightning thing that ever went on a movie screen.
Psycho (1960)
Greatest film ever made
This film is no doubt Alfred Hitchcock's greatest film, but it is my belief that this film is the greatest film ever made. What film has given more inspiration to directors down the years. From the opening scene to the brilliant ending no film gives more tension and brilliance than this masterpiece. Its one of those perfect edge of your seat films that's brilliant every time you watch. Like even a scene where Janet Leigh is just driving a car is Scary!! So tense. Its such a great film because it starts of with what you think is a lady (Marion Crane) having an affair with a hardware store owner (Sam Loomis) Marion wants to run away with Sam so she steals some money from a bank she works in and takes of to meet Sam. Whilst on her Journey she has confrontations with a policeman and a car sales-man but nothing could have prepared her for her stay at the Bates motel. A huge mistake. This is where the story totally changes she's murdered in the shower! but who did it? In the words of Mr Hitchcock "don't give away the ending".
