The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
A Beautifully Crafted Masterpiece!
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is one of those movies that slipped through my radar. I regularly keep up with the movies coming each year, but like a few others that had me enthralled, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty was one of the few movies that I didn't notice. I believe that the movies that we don't always notice, the movies that we don't always think about, are the movies that's going to hunt our minds for some time after having seen them.
I am pretty sure that The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is one of those movies. I am writing this review a day after having seen it and I am still amazed at the way it was directed, the way the score of the movie simply makes my soul stop.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty can be considered a remake of a movie from the 40's but the story is a lot different from the 40's movie, and what it borrows isn't much. I think that was a good decision. I am not saying that the original movie isn't a good one, I am just saying that whereas the 2013 takes a very different turn it fits and probably fits better than if they had decided to use the original story, as the original story was crafted way back and the mindset of today is quite different.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty as mentioned is a movie released in 2013, it was directed by Ben Stiller, and he stars in the movie as Walter Mitty. The movie revolves around Walter Mitty who is a dreamer, so much so that it affects his life. He day-dreams about various things during the movie. When his life and the lives of the people around him is threatened he decides to seek out the person that might be able to help him or at least wake him up. In the end this in term sends him out on an adventure, he only dreamed about in his day-dreams.
Ben Stiller is perfect as the day-dreaming Walter Mitty. Ben Stiller can now and then seem quite hard to shallow, sometimes his humor is over the top or just rather annoying, and if you are a person who cannot get over that fact, and you believe that you are never really going to enjoy what he does, it's time to give it another go. I have bashed on Ryan Reynolds many times before, I said I couldn't get into the movies he did, many of them seemed so annoying, and then something happened. Ryan Reynolds changed his direction towards more serious and I guess more developed scripts.
I am not saying that I do not like movies that star Ben Stiller, I enjoyed the older ones and some of the new ones, but I also want to see him do something a little different I also want to see him turn into what Ryan Reynolds became with some of his newer movies. That's exactly what I got with The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. Ben Stiller's performance was amazing, and in comparison to other movies he felt real. Ben Stiller captures something not seen all the time, he truly plays Walter Mitty as a real life person, and his emotions are something not seen that often.
Of course there are other actors in this movie and while they do give the movie that extra spark and they are all doing an amazing job the movie is mostly centered on Ben Stiller, the story is about his character and he is what you are going to be seeing throughout 85% of the movie. Therefore I just want to go record saying that the other actors are well placed and they give that extra feeling that the person needs, they also complement Ben Stiller's character in a beautiful way.
I felt the direction of the movie was spot on, the camera work is just right and the visuals of the movie is at times mesmerizing.
Every scene was perfectly captured and just beautiful. For once I didn't notice too many camera cuts, maybe I just was too into the movie to notice, but if that was the reason then who cares, if they could give me that special feeling of exactly watching a movie and being drawn in to it then that's more than enough, that's more then what anyone could ask for. The movie is beautifully crafted, the art direction is perfect, and while some scenes are somewhat fake it still felt real and truly mesmerizing.
The Score of the movie created by Theodore Shapiro & Jose Gonzalez was perfectly composed to all of the scenes, the soundtrack isn't anything out of the ordinary, but the score is somewhat else. From the humming sound in the track "I'm Right Here" to the more heavy orchestral theme of "Stationary Cycle" every track just comes together to create a wonderfully masterpiece crafted by a steady and calm soul.
You may be inclined to look at the beautifully crafted visuals more than listen to the music, it all depends on the viewer but for me the music just came in to create something special, something alive, something soul and heart wrenching.
The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is something else, it's something special, it's one of the movies that went past my radar for some odd reason and while it may not be for everyone it's defiantly something that moves this sometimes old and rusty heart. It's a journey into the soul and heart of the one who truly believes that life can be more then what it sometimes is.
It's about taking chances, it's about waking up, it's about trying new things, it's about looking from other views, it' about realizing what's behind the covers, it's about life!
My Sassy Girl (2008)
Amsomnia Reviews - A Freaking Awful Remake!
I am going to try and keep this short this time around, and tell you exactly why you should steer clear of the remake of a far better movie or why you should see it just to know why....HOWEVER if you haven't seen the original movie and are thinking that you should see the remake please don't because all you will see is a very common American flick, that a flick that doesn't have much substance.
My Sassy Girl is a remake of the original Korean movie which is named the same. My Sassy Girl from 2001 was an amazing love story weird and sweet at the same time. And you could argue that the original didn't make much sense, that's also why most people saw it more then once. You were meant to look upon it numerous of times to see what the story had to offer, and every time you saw it again more details would be clear to the viewer.
It was a massive success in Korea and across the eastern world, it was amazing because it was a love story that wasn't fabricated from someone's mind, it was a love story based on real events.
My Sassy Girl from 2008 is Hollywood wanting to get some extra money from a success that they really shouldn't have been able to earn anything from. My Sassy Girl from 2008 didn't have any substance it felt weak and the introduction of a friend to the main character just felt wrong. One of the main issues I had with the movie was the fact that in the end the main characters kiss. I get it but look at the original and see where they went wrong.
I don't want to say more, I was trying to get my two cents out, see the original and then maybe see the remake, you will most likely not get the American version while the Korean version should draw you in from the very first minutes. The American version never does this.
Mickybo and Me (2004)
Not bad, yet the music is atrocious!
Usually I am very hesitant against movies with a different dialect, and to be honest I have a habit of throwing aside movies from Great Britain or any movie that even resembles the style.
Sometimes however I am happily surprised to find that some of these movies in the end have me enjoying them.
So when a movie like this comes along, I kind of get a kick out of watching it, the reason is mostly because I am actually teaching myself to understand that not all movies are alike and some will have that special factor that entraps me.
If you have watched an earlier review from me you would know that I had a hatred against Ryan Reynolds, and yes I will admit that it probably was just a pathetic attempt to prove something that didn't even hold up, because as soon as I began watching movies where he actually acted more serious I quickly became infatuated by the movies.
I will however still state that it probably also depends on what movie he was cast in, some just don't work and others do, some actors are fit for their role while others aren't, and this is where I will begin the review of Mickybo And Me that in fact did have me watching it all the way through.
And while I did watch this in school which means I was in a way forced to watch the movie, I however did not feel like I was forced which believe ME! is a big thing for someone like me.
Storyline 8/10 – The story of Mickybo And Me centers around two kids living in Ireland during the 1970s. If you don't know the whole story of north and south Ireland I do recommend reading it up before reading any further.
Mickybo And Me is about Mickybo (Niall Wright) who is a protestant and JonJo (John Joe Mcneill) who is a catholic. Both are divided by a bridge yet both become friends. And both have an obsessing of Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid.
If you have read about the conflict of North and South Ireland you would know that the lives of both sides were dire and this is mainly the reason that JonJo and Mickybo want to be Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid so that they can escape to Australia and leave Ireland forever.
That is the whole story, which in a way is kind of pathetic, but it is the way that the story is fed to you that pulls you in, I am not going to go into detail about how this works instead I will simply just say that it works.
Actors 9/10 – This is where the movie luckily shines, the actors are all very likable, and you really do feel with the characters of the movie. The movie is obviously mostly centered around Mickybo and Jonjo.
Niall Wright isn't an actor I have seen in any other movie, I might have to watch other movies with him, while I will admit that I sometimes felt he was a little annoying I will however still state that he actually is also a lot likable and acts very genuine, and his role is defiantly not an easy one so he did extremely well for such a young actor.
John Joe Mcneill is much like Niall Wright, but doesn't have quite the same power as Niall Wright has but that might be because of the characters different backgrounds, the rest of the actors for how good they all act, are all just along for the ride.
Soundtrack 4/10 - The soundtrack is almost atrocious, had it not been for the opening melody that almost chants the name Belfast this whole soundtrack would have been mind-numbingly pathetic.
I do not recommend buying the soundtrack or anything near it, even the opening song isn't that good, I mean its okay but really just average! Overall 7/10 – The story and the actors complement each other very well and the movie isn't bad at all, the music however is atrocious and almost so irritating that I had to cover my ears, sadly that's the reason that I only give this movie an 7/10 rate.
Chaos Theory (2007)
Chaos Theory!
Now following my hesitating state against Ryan Reynolds movies I have come to understand that we as movie goers and people just wanting something to watch on the couch with a friend or a loved one.
We usually judge movies by a person, naturally that one person is almost never the reason, now I am not going to say that Ryan Reynolds haven't been in bad movies otherwise I wouldn't have built up this hesitated stage that I do when finding a movie with him.
But I have come to realize when I watch movies with the actors that I don't like that much I find out that they can truly change, and for the most many of the roles they try to do are just not theirs to take, now that might sound weird but some movies are meant for one person, heck I am sure that soon there will be a movie even Will Smith will fall on his knees upon.
The reason that many actors like Will Smith and others are doing so well and of course also Ryan Reynolds is because most of the movies they are cast in are perfect for them, yet some of them can be big flops, and sometimes a movie is all it takes, just look at "Reign Over Me" with Adam Sandler his acting in that movie is a revelation to say the least.
Now I am not going to say what movie had me almost hating Ryan Reynolds, instead I am going to give another review for one more with the guy that have me more and more mesmerized with roles that are made for him.
Storyline 9/10 – (This Contains major spoilers!!!) The story is about Frank, a man who lives by a controlled life, in the beginning we see an epilogue of some sort, where Frank as an older man tells his soon to be son in law about love, then it flashbacks to the moment where Frank meets the woman of his life.
After that it jumps about 7 years in the future where he is a little older and living with his wife and his daughter, everything is peaceful until he goes for an audience and in the end is spoken to by one of the viewers a woman who wants to have sex with him.
He declines in the end but when he drives home he is stopped nearly driving into a pregnant woman, which leads him to helping her into the hospital, and this is where the story begins to get complicated because the next morning his wife finds out what he had done, well in some way, because instead she is told he has just gotten a child, which naturally is a mistake.
This is where the it hits the fan, after a doctor's appointment he finds out that his daughter isn't really his, which changes him to begin taking weird chances and in a way leads him to his downfall
..find out the rest for yourselves it is worth it.
Now even for how complicated this story seems it really isn't, it is rather simple for movie standards, but it is done in a much more delicate and wonderful way, the story is inflicted by a massive soundtrack which also helps it a lot.
Actors 10/10 – The actors are naturally in this movie the best part, Ryan Reynolds plays his part to utmost of his capabilities well at least from what I can gather, the only other movie that have had me even more astonished is "The Nines" which is of course also a movie with him, one that I might return with a review on one day.
Emily Mortimer is just a really nice and rather astonishing lady, I have seen many movies with her and have always felt it was worth it, her acting is spot on, and she does everything to try and show the emotions and it truly does feel right to the viewer.
I must admit I don't know who this Stuart Townsend is, I might have seen movies with him before but not that I can recollect, I would imagine he is still an upcoming star or maybe that is just me, but nevertheless his acting was well done, there was a nice story around there, sometimes his emotions and his acting doesn't touch the viewer that much but at least it works.
Matreya Fedor I didn't know who she was either, she does resemble some child star so in the beginning I thought she was who I was thinking about but she wasn't I am guessing she is also an upcoming star, nevertheless like Stuart Townsend her acting is also really well done, it is a little more subtle since she isn't in every scene if you get my drift.
Soundtrack 10/10 – This movie is filled with a lot of great tracks many of them fit perfectly where they are, they heighten the movie in so many ways, just for the soundtrack this was a treat, I am properly going to buy the soundtrack one day just for that, really awesome soundtrack shouldn't be missed! There are some songs and there are some tunes, mostly the songs heighten the movie yet some of the tunes do what they should do, it is a nice combination of both and they work well together.
Overall 9/10 – A movie that should be seen at least once, it is again one of the movies with Ryan Reynolds that boggles my mind, it has the right actors, the nicest soundtrack and a good complicated yet in a way simple story, it has a little cheese factor but mostly it is genuine and that is the most important thing.
it give you new ideas, even the most simplest of ways.
Definitely, Maybe (2008)
A Somewhat short version of "How I Met Your Mother" done in romance all the way!
Once again I am here to give a review, and this time it is Definitely, Maybe, a movie that I in the beginning wasn't sure of, some of you may know I am not a huge Ryan Reynolds fan, but I got to be honest, with the movies that he has been in over the last years I have slowly began to grow fund of his acting, this is one of those movies, one that surprises me.
It is in a way a hybrid of "How I Met Your Mother" yeah I know they don't have anything to do with each other, but the story in this movie is something like it, just one girl asking her father about it, and of course not an entire series, three women, who is the mother, three women who is his love really?
Storyline 10/10 – The storyline is definitely the stuff that makes this movie flourishes, the story is simple in a way, and it is about a daughter who after having had sex class at an early age asks her father about how he met her mother, that's actually it.
The thing that steals the movie is of course your own idea of who her mother is, in the movie the daughter is wondering, but you the viewer is as well are trying to find out in your mind who is the real mother and who is his real love, in the beginning of the movie we find out he is divorced.
I am not going to ruin anything for you in this review, I will however say this watch the movie for the story, it may be a little simple but as the story goes on it gets complicated haha.
Definitely, Maybe Is also a hidden message for you, that's all I am going to give you, a hidden message that you should keep in mind when watching it, because that will be the clue, I felt that was a really cool idea! Actors 9/10 – Some of the actors are hit and miss, but those that steal the show is surely the three women the daughter and yes of course Ryan Reynolds, and since I have already stated before I am not really a fan of him I will have to almost retract my opinion, because he is beginning to win me over with his acting.
There is not that many actors in this movie, and most of them don't really have that much of an impact, those that does are those that I have already mentioned and they steal the story which is also the point of the movie, stay focused on them, I guarantee a new experience.
Soundtrack 8/9 – I got to be frank I am not that fund of the same music in many movies, yes there were some great ones but those that you will remember will be "Nirvana" and Frank Sinatra, the other part of the soundtrack is made just for the soundtrack.
And they are all played out well, some of them don't really have a big impact but they all try to set the mood of the movie and in some way they all do, I especially liked the music played in the ending of the movie, no not a song with voice and no not at the credits a little before, when you see this movie you will know what I am talking about.
When I watch these movies I always try to listen to the music, some of them can be so ripping, some of them can be so wonderfully done, and much of the music done directly for this movie do set the mood and are ripping
Special Effects N/A – Didn't really notice any, yes of course the obvious camera angels and other places where the camera might have been held or moved differently but they aren't really special effects or anything they are just to give the movie a different feel, so basically it really has no effects and if it does then I haven't seen it.
Overall 9-10 – I can give this a big nine basically because of the complicated story done so simple, and the actors play their parts so well, the music is also a lot better then what I expected, I don't really look for reviews when watching a movie, I don't care, we all have different opinions on movies, some will like it some wont.
You will just have to try it out, give it a try and just basically merge yourself into this simplistic story that can at sometimes feel so complicated, maybe you are wrong when you wonder who will be the woman who is the mother and maybe you are wrong in knowing who is the love of his life, but no matter what give it a try.
This movie is much better than your average love flick; it challenges your preconceptions in a way, well thank you for reading another review done from me!
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Simple 80s Flick Yet Almost Perfect!
Planes, Trains And Automobiles is your average 80s flick, no matter how you look upon it, but for what it is, the movie is probably one of the best of that decade, in the mid 80s and late 80s John Hughes had established himself as a man of the teenage movies, he had already done a few of them and people thought that was what he only did, so in order to go in another direction and show a different point of view he made this movie, it was a beginning.
Storyline: 9/10 The story of this movie is about two people stuck with each other one day before thanksgiving, together they must help each other and return home, that is the basis, there isn't much more then that actually, it doesn't take it to the next step, there are some secrets but they are rather small, except for one, the story is pretty much your basic 80s storyline but it isn't bad, it fits perfectly for its decade, you don't suspect anything huge, when you begin to watch the movie you already know somewhat how it is going to end. Which is fine, sometimes a movie doesn't have to have any huge conspiracy, it doesn't need to be a complete mystery or have any huge impact, this movie is in my opinion a masterpiece and the story as simple as it is does what it needs to do, perfect for its decade.
Actors: 10/10 Back in the days Steve Martin was huge, today he is more settled down but back then he was the beef, he was and is a great actor so how could you ever go wrong with the way he act, and of course let us not forget the other companion because let us be honest if it had been any other then John Candy the movie wouldn't have had as much glow as it does, John Candy was one of the greatest actors of his time, you don't see many movies that went wrong when he was in the lead, he was the beef until his death in 1994, he will always be remembered for spot on acting, R.I.P homes. Together these two make the perfect couple in a movie, you want to like them both, and you want to find out what happens, in the beginning the movie does act slow but as it continues you will be sitting in front of your screen watching until the end.
Soundtrack: 10/10 Oh Come on let us be clear here, the music is spot on, there are some nice tracks on this, many of them you will like, actually just about all of them, my only beef with the soundtrack is that the ending song "Every time You Go Away" would have been better to be placed as the last song in the whole movie, I mean it is perfect fitted but I would have been more glad if it ended on that song as well. The Music is spot on, it is your cheesy music from the 80s, you all know this stuff, but everything is perfect in the sense, the music moves the movie even a lot more than it had to.
Overall 9/10 The movie is almost perfect, yeah I said it, but I know that many like this movie so I am not going to be thrown down in the mud anyway, John Hughes wanted to show that he could break through the teenage flick barrier even as perfect as they all were, he did this they way you really wanted him to do it, the movie is simple and honest, it doesn't hide much and doesn't change much but for what it Is the movie is spot on, R.I.P John R.I.P knowing you create a true legacy!
Numb (2007)
Wow!
I know I sometimes are a little giving with the rating, sometimes I give a little more then what some movies might deserve, yet I felt that, that wasn't the case with this movie, Numb is a special movie, from looking at the DVD, or by some of the posters you don't really get what it really is, Numb is special, special!
Storyline 10/10: The story is about a man named Hudson, who has depersonalization disorder, look that up if you want to know something about it, the story is mostly about his disorder and how he live with it, and how some of it changes when he meets a woman (Sara) who in some way changes him somewhat through the story, I don't really want to tell you much of the story, believe it the story is just that good, see it for yourself, don't read stuff when wanting to see this movie!, it is that good!
Actors: 10/10: I liked just about everyone in this movie, I have always been a fan of Matthew Perry, plus Lynn Collins played really nice as well, I must however say I am not really a fan of Kevin Pollak, he isn't that bad but I am not that big a fan, also what the heck happened to this eyebrows, never seen that on him before, freaked me a little out, except for that the actors were nice enough, I liked them all and they played as real as real can get in a movie, I would see the movie just for the actors actually!
Soundtrack: 10/10: It is mostly standard fare, Yeah I said that standard fare, yet some nice tunes are thrown in and they really capture the whole, and the standard tracks that are thrown in fits with the movie just perfectly, especially when they had to convey some feeling to you, which it did all through the movie, I bought the soundtrack, yeah I liked it that much, so I would recommend listening to some of the tracks in the movie they are great!
Special Effects N/A: I know there are some of course yet the movie doesn't really emphasize on it so I have not much to say about effects since mostly there weren't any special effects, more camera angels and such not really anything else, but remember this is not an action, adventure or SCI-FI this is a drama!
Overall 10/10: As I said before I am usually not this giving with my score not really, but this movie deserve the score I gave it, this movie really is something huge, I felt with the character through the whole movie and that my friend is really something special, that my friend doesn't happen that often, so I would say buy it and keep it, and watch it once a year or something, just for good fun!
I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009)
A Teenage Flick - Not Bad!
I love you, beth cooper, is your average Teenage flick, It is not the best movie, yet it is not the worst either, it tries to be a lot more then what it is, that's also a shame really, I was hoping for a little more, yet for what it is, it's still a beautiful movie.
Storyline: 7-10 Basic story, a nerd has a crush on the cheerleader and he tells her in front of everyone, kind of your basic storyline, there are some places in the movie that makes it seem like it is more then that but only some places which is a shame, I have some movies that I steer clear off, there are some that I feel just by thinking of them couldn't be good, I judge them to early, I judged this movie too early as well, the story is actually pretty okay it is however almost standard fare, but for that it is not that bad.
Actors: 9-10: I felt the actors came off the way they had to, it all seemed nice, yet I must admit the parents of Denis Cooverman was a little extra filling that didn't need to be there, also HOW BIG WAS PAUL RUST'S NOSE DAMN!, but except for that they were all great I felt with them and that is also the main idea isn't it, I just couldn't get over that nose really.
Soundtrack: 9-10: I liked much of what was played in this movie, also I felt the track "Last Kiss" was perfect for the ending where well watch it, it isn't a song just a small melody but it felt just right and was pretty good, I have nothing bad to say about the soundtrack It is pretty much standard fare but for that, it isn't that bad really.
Special Effects: N/A There were some effects thrown in of course there were, yet those there were was mostly not that big and nothing really huge, but being this is a teenage flick it is understandable that nothing really happened in the movie in that area, so I have nothing bad to say about this part...
Overall 7-10: The movie is not the best movie, it is not the worst movie, it is your standard teenage flick that tries to be a little more and in some way pulls it a little off, yet it doesn't have much more then that, it is what it is, a movie you see on a Saturday just for quick fun, and then maybe seeing it later on in your life once more, it is a nice rendition, rent it or keep it, store it away, it really isn't how bad as some people say, never let the rating fool you, sometimes a movie is okay...
Just Like Heaven (2005)
Funny, Yet not funny HAHA
Just Like Heaven is one of those movies I look at and think oh why do I need to see this, this movie is just like any other I have seen, and in truth it really is, yet when that is said the movie is better then the norms and I am going to return to why a little later on. Just Like Heaven is what could be like a teen movie when thinking about it in the beginning, yet it isn't really, while it has some fun factors and all the movie is more of a serious love story with some comedy thrown in to get the movie to work better.
Storyline" 8/10 The story is the main focus of the movie and yeah it is very clear that, that main factor is the most important thing, so the story goes like this, when a girl Doctor (Reese Witherspoon)gets into an accident she is put into a Coma, of course you don't know this until the middle of the movie. so after seeing her driving into a large truck the movie goes over to (Mark Ruffalo)a guy who is searching for an apartment, yet when he finds the perfect one with the perfect couch he is scared by a ghost of someone who thinks that the apartment belongs to her, and this girl is of course Reese Witherspoon. The story is a little slow paced yet when we find out that she ended up in a Coma it slowly begins to move a little faster until the very end which I am not going to comment on. see it for yourself the movie is good for the story alone.
Actors: 8/10 - The actors of the movie are good, normally I don't really like or get the acting of Reese Witherspoon yet this time around I felt into the story, this is the first movie I liked where she was a main character and that really needs a lot of thumps up, Mark Ruffalo is also one that I don't always get, yet putting them both together somehow worked really good, and I am searching the market for more movies like this. All in All this worked very good, while the other character are also very good they really don't have much to do with the story yet for the sister of Reese's character and she plays good as well.
Music" 10/10 - I like music like this, also of course Amos Lee oh and who can argue against the ending song "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure that song is so good, all in all they did great with the music. It puts the mood into the movie and I gotta say the music also had put a factor into the fact that I wanted to see the movie.
Special Effects N/A - While there are some and they are done good enough they really don't need to be in this movie, except for maybe the time where we see the garden of her dreams and later on when we see somewhat the same, thats where they matters, yet as said it is one of those movies that doesn't need them.
All in All 8/10 - Great movie, great story, and when a movie can get me to look for more movies by actors I normally don't like and don't want to see in many movies that movie needs credits. So all in all this movie is a movie that should be seen, maybe even bought, keep it and cherish it, the movie will do the same for you believe me!
Toki o kakeru shôjo (2006)
Awesome edition!
I am not keen to like movies like these, mostly because they are animated, don't get me wrong they might be great and grown up like but sometimes they lose face for me. That's also why I will always get surprised when I see something like this.
Story 9/10 - The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is about a girl who suddenly gets to stop time, however she is affected by a counter on her hand, which she doesn't get at first, her friends consist of two boys and a girl, probably more than that but mostly about three people, these three friends are, Kousuke Tsuda, Yuri Hayakawa, Chiaki Mamiya. The movie is mostly about events up to a certain plot line that will blow your mind, it isn't that huge at all but it still will make you twitch and wonder. When she gets this power she uses it for selfness needs, changing many outcomes including the many times that Kousuke Tsuda asks her out on a date, In the end however she slowly loses more and more chances to change the future ending up with an outcome she certainly didn't want, I am not going to tell you what the outcome was or what it involves I am just going to say that you should defiantly see this movie for its story if not for anything else.
Actor - 9/10 Likable Characters from start to finish, normally the voice acting for something like this is screwed up, sometimes they choose the wrong voice actors to do something like this, but in this movie they didn't, I have seen it in Japanese and in English, and I can say that both are great, the English voice cast does a great effort to bring the characters to life, it is like they wanted to act good in this movie and I like that fact. Also it should be mentioned that even though that there aren't any famous people acting the voice, I wouldn't say that there is but they feel like they would be in my opinion they are just as great as say some of the greatest actors of our time. Music
10/10 - I was surprised to hear the two songs, and especially the inserted song, normally when they sing somewhere in the movie it is sometimes ruined, not as well but sometimes it is just not that perfectly done at all and you feel left alone really. Hanako does those two songs the justice they really need, if it was just for the story it would be okay but the music does a lot to create an even more exhilarating experience, I feel like they couldn't have done it without her at all, great song, great voice, just great music, it really needs to be point out.
Animation 8/10 - It is computer animation as I see it, that's not something that I hate at all, but it does prove that it could've been done more awesome with real hand to hand drawn images but then again somewhere probably hand drawn so I can't say anything against that at all anyways.
Overall 9/10 - The story is great, music great, actors great, the animation could've been better but then again it was drawn to perfection in my opinion it is like they really wanted this to work, I would say buy it and keep it, store it away and one day in the near future and even in the far future see it again, I am sure it will work for you even the second, the third time, it is great and I say love it!
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008)
Sometimes it gets even better!
Harold and Kumar - escape from Guantanamo Bay is even better then its former movie although it wasn't as stoned as the first it isn't bad at all, the movie gets a nice lift that shouldn't be forgotten in awhile, normally a sequel isn't good yet sometimes it just works to a tee.
Storyline: 9/10 It is clear to start with that the story of the second movie has been more valued then what it was in the first movie, in the first movie the point was to have a laugh and follow the stoner's as they reach the hype of the night, in the second movie we still are to laugh but this time follow the love of Kumar and learn his story a little more through some flashbacks and what not, of course we also learn a little of Harolds love life but Kumar is the main point of the movie and what a great idea it was to do it in this way, we actually learn he is tormented by the past but not going to say more then that.
Actors: N/A All in all like my former review the actors do what should be done, they are all great and I have nothing to bitch about at all, although want to state that I liked the fact at how the put Neal into the story again and even loved the way he died, what a cool way to end his path set for something that he felt god just made him walk.
Soundtrack: N/A A mixture of the same a normal movie music rendition although I want to highlight the main theme as the main goody of the movie although it wasn't as good as the former soundtrack of the first movie.
Special Effects: N/A The only thing I am going to tell you in this part of the review is "A unicorn?"
All In All 9/10 In my opinion a lot better then the first movie, greater acting and a much greater storyline although the music wasn't as good, the last thing I want is to copy and place the quote that Kumar ends with in the movie which is a quote that was remembered in my mind a long time and even still is.
I fear that I will always be / A lonely number like root three / A three is all that's good and right, / Why must my three keep out of sight / Beneath a vicious square root sign, / I wish instead I were a nine / For nine could thwart this evil trick, / with just some quick arithmetic / I know I'll never see the sun, as 1.7321 / Such is my reality, a sad irrationality / When hark! What is this I see, / Another square root of a three / Has quietly come waltzing by, / Together now we multiply / To form a number we prefer, / Rejoicing as an integer / We break free from our mortal bonds / And with a wave of magic wands / Our square root signs become unglued / And love for me has been renewed.
I wonderful poem and great one love it, pick this movie up and like its former keep it and enjoy it a Saturday evening.
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004)
A hell of a good movie!
So today I am doing another review of a movie, yet today I have chosen a movie that doesn't follow the exact thing I normal reviews. However, this time I thought that I wanted to review something different and the movie I clearly have chosen is Harold And Kumar - Goes To White Castle a "Stoner" movie if you can call it but a good one at that.
Storyline: N/A I am not going to give the story a rating since I don't really believe there really is any, although the movie follows a certain story and a certain motive it doesn't really have a certain story anyways, this movie is all about the funny aspects and it surely deliverers in this apartment. it is the story of two stoner's who one night sees a commercial about some place called White Castle and this place is the main attractment of the movie the whole point of the movie is the travel to a place that is the hype of two meat loving stoner's, not going to say more but of course everything goes entirely WRONG!
Characters: 9/10 This is were the story really have its strength, also I would like to add that if it hadn't been just these two actors then the story would've failed in so many aspects, so this is what makes the movie seem as cool as it really is, right pick I would say.
Soundtrack 8/10 Your normal mixture of music, nothing really special although the main song of the movie is clearly highlighted at the beginning and at the end and it shines through, it was the perfect choice and should be praised upon but all in all it is your normal mixture of songs put into a soundtrack with a cool theme!
Special Effects N/A There are some here and there but all in all this movie doesn't need them and it surely wasn't really needed for something, they could've done without any of them.
All in All 7/9 All in all this movie is a great Saturday night movie and its follow-up is just as cool, everything has been done to almost perfection if you know the standards of such a movie this is, yet some things could've been done better and some parts of the movie could've been written better but all in all a great movie that should be a great pick for any fan of the comic area, pick it up and keep it.!
Marley & Me (2008)
Sometimes crying is allowed!
Little Insider From Me "I see many movies, I had my ideas of this movie before I saw it, I wondered if it was just another flick that you see once and thats it, it certainly looked like that in the beginning, but boy was I surprised. Marley and Me is a special rendering, some movies come and go, and some stay with you, you know being a critic of movies as myself I have seen crappy ones a lot, I dedicated myself to try and make up for that, thats why I only have one movie on IMDb which I didn't like, the rest is reviewed from a proud movie watcher. I want to recite to you movies that you should be proud of saying you have watched, even proud of saying that you cried, not every movie does this, and it is sometimes hard to find one, but this one does, lets go to the review"
Story: 9/10 The story is about a couple who get a dog, the worlds worst dog. The story is actually slow, it doesn't have a really fast pace, it is one of those movies once again where the story doesn't have to be huge, it is a little lovable story, and if you had a dog as a child or even through your years you might just relate to this, but if you haven't then this story will still suck you in, don't look at it as a mediocre story or flick or something, actually in my opinion this is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and this is the best I have seen with Owen Wilson, I didn't like his movies that much actually but this movie made my mind change and that is perfect.
Actors: 10/10 Need I say anything here, actually no I don't have to say anything I already pointed out that Owen Wilson won me over with this movie and that is huge, also I am of course a huge fan of Jennifer Annistons movies, so of course I liked it very much, yet I still in the beginning hesitated but glad I watched it through, great cast enough for anything sometimes it don't need to be anything huge, sometimes it is enough with just 3 a woman a man and their dog.
Music: 9/10 Everything was actually great the theme of this movie is very good, it is clear as the sea that they knew exactly what the theme should be and what they did with that made this awesome as well, but nothing more then that, the music is very very good, and maybe I will just buy the soundtrack which I don't do that often...
Overall 8/10 I was pleased to see this movie, I was pleased to see I was wrong about something I see within movies, and also very much glad to say I was wrong about Owen Wilson, I just hope that I get to see other movies like this with him, not all those funny ones, he just proved that serious is really awesome, great movie, they knew right away what they would end with in their hands, a perfect score that is lovable, a story that needs to be seen once, and more then that, great movie, I will end with the quote.
"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"
The Pagemaster (1994)
People have lost too much imagination over the years!!!
I only review the movies I really adore, some will slip that I don't adore but this one isn't one of them, it seems that over the years people have lost a lot of imagination, it seems as we go through the future we realize what cannot be true is so phony, but as I see it people will return to it one time, I am still a really liker of imagination, but people today don't wanna believe the things that no one can believe, so because of that this movie haven't got a lot of good reviews, I want to do this movie justice...
The pagemaster is made for kids and adults who still dreams, it isn't the most serious movie at all but it does have some spots that has deemed it serious, mostly it is a movie that should be taken lightly.
This movie wants us to be taught something like many others of its nature, in this movie we are taught two major things first 1. to take choices and not be afraid, to do things we normally would be a afraid of as a child, second 2. it teaches us the main thing, to believe, simply just to believe, we all know none of this is real but why do we have to disband these movies, they are imagination, fantasy something many today could need a whole lot more of.
This movie is also done very good by the actors, they chose the right actors for every voice in the movie, but my favorite is of course Christopher Loyd as the Pagemaster, the one who granted a single wish for a kid who were afraid of everything.
The music is perfect in this movie, as it is a fantasy music like this is needed, this is something people and companies have at least kept forever and haven't still forgot, now if only they would do the same for fantasy, for imagination, we all have a child in us, why grow up so fast, we get to be mature but that doesn't mean we have to let go the things that made us into what we are today, many of these movies have been forgotten but they will always stay inside us, so now it is time to say that this movie is all that it is a classic, a classic people just forgot.
As I said above I only do reviews of movies I like, not movies I don't like so of course this is one of my favorite, I grew up watching movies like this, enjoy it, and for do yourself a favor and watch it again, slowly fall inside imagination, just one more time, it is worth it...
"Shh I have a talent for guessing what people need"
Persona 4 (2008)
Much better then Persona 3, redeemed PS2!!!
Persona 4 was made to show that the good old PS2 isn't that old yet,and a testament to that is games are still made to the PS2 I even show that there will come games for the PS2 in 2010, I like to believe that persona 4 had something to do with that, and I do think it did, well lets start the summary...
Story: 10/10 The story gives it all, I want to state that you cannot put this game in between story lines like FF and others of that kind, Shin Megami Tensei has always been dark and grotesques but that is also one of the coolest features, although Persona has a more calm tone but still dark and thats why you cannot put this together with others. so does this game have a good story, as far as I would say it does in so many ways, the story holds the crime factor all the way and you never know who is the real culprit, I am sure you get it wrong as I did. Everything about the case is true to the story it is hard to figure out. People that you meet, and talk to have always something fun to say, and there are a lot of NPC's in this game, enough to let to story go on forever, and at the end I promise you will be filled with an full heart, it is really a joy playing this awesome game, but I wont spoil anything for you.
Gameplay: 9/10 The game play could have been a little better, but it doesn't really matter that much since the game is huge and there is enough for anybody, some of the features from Persona 3 has been taken to this game but that doesn't hinder this game from being a true classic, just don't expect everything to happen, although most of it actually does, I recommend this like I would recommend FFX and Tales Of The Abyss, those games rock and this does just the same, it doesn't hold the same as FFX and Tales Of The Abyss but it is damn close, really, really close to that, it is a role playing game and a Sim game which holds more up then anything in the entire RPG collections, I recommend this game just for the game play even...
Audio: 10/10 This game has some of the coolest music tracks in recorded game history, some are a little off of course but they make that up with the ending theme, and many of the boss themes, and also a lot of the dungeon themes, and of course many of the others played about in this epic role playing game, I bought the soundtrack just to hear the music again, I have the game but really needed the soundtrack as well, it is incredible, I assure you this is also some of what makes this game the best of that year in my own judgment cool....very cool indeed... Also the voices in this game fit perfectly to the characters, I will say that some are a little off but the rest work just as it should so it can pull you into the game with everything it really got, truly a masterpiece...
Overall: 9/10 This game is the deal, it saved the PS2 and it did with a really big heart, a grace that nobody can take away, I have actually played it 4 times now, I just wanted to come back to Inaba, many more times I needed to hear the story again, a Huge story that will take you anywhere you go, I want to finish this Review with an ending to a closure that seemed like forever, I will keep on reviewing see you still take time Xenosaga is up, please have in mind that this game is the bomb, really the bomb...
"It doesn't matter how far apart we are, the bonds we made will remain strong, everyones heart is connected to the people they know and trust, it is those bonds that let us all show for the purpose in life, as long as it is a purpose you believe in, there will always be someone who can help you fulfill it, you, me, and everyone else, there are no barriers, our hearts are one..."
What I Like About You (2002)
Got a high start, stale middle, high ending!!!
What i like about you is one of those series you need to see but aren't sure you would see, the beginning is cool and its sucks you into the series just for fun, the second part i season 2-3 which are more stale, they come and go in what you want. what happens with many series is that they don't end with something special because the second part of the series always goes down into the drain, this one also somewhat did, the third part is the one to spoil and ruin the whole series, usually, but it doesn't, this ending is perfect for the series, it fits perfect, actually i was pretty angry about all these guys in Val's life, actually i wanted to end with Jeff in the end, but later on it changed, they chose to take Vic into the series after almost 3 seasons without him, and that was the biggest surprise and also what made the series go on top.
see it many times the series is actually very cool just don't expect the second part to be that good it isn't but the third part does what was needed and made the series to one that was worth the whole thing, i am happy to say i was glad and happy about the series and now i will go over to see two guys a girl and a pizza place, when i have seen the whole series i will be back...
Rocky Balboa (2006)
One send off that does what it deserved!!!
I used to see these movies as a child, I didn't get all of it back then but it was like going down memory lane, many movies that are sequels this late from the early suck but this didn't, of course 2006 has been a year of change, we got Rocky Balboa, Rambo 4, Die Hard 4, and later we even got Indiana Jones, all these were sequels that won, but this isn't about them this is about Rocky.
What I like about this one is that is goes down and does what the first movie did, it isn't as good but it does the same, second I was happy to actually see that Marie who isn't really much in the first movie is the one who actually changes the fact in the last, which many might think is wrong but I believe it was just what was needed.
Second all those special moments when Rocky talks, special things are said all the way, and of course I was also very thrilled to see Paulie again the only one except Duke who has been in every movie with the exception of Rocky of course.
And third but not least, there were flashbacks in Rocky V but they didn't do as well as they do in this one, the end is terminate by one person in my head, one voice, even if only for a flashback that was the perfect way to end a really cool legacy, Rocky got what he deserved.
Now we only need to see if Rambo, John Maclane and Indiana Jones gets the perfect ending as well because we all know that new movies for those are coming it has already been decided soo looking forward..!!!
D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996)
Duck Film Good, But In No Way better then first and second!!!
People say this movie is bad, it hasn't got the meat that the two other sequels had, and that is somewhat also true, but in some way also a little untrue, let me emphasize.
This is the ending to the trilogy, and with being the ending it has got to have something that we all can relate to if we have seen the others, the movie could almost be a complete failure but isn't really, the reasons it isn't are here.
1. Cast members all return or at least most of the cast members, and even Hans revisited which was one of my favorite in the first movie. 2. It still is about the game, this movie was made to represent a decade of hockey and it does. 3. there aren't other reasons but his one is the biggest, the ending shot where Emilio walks out of the screen is perfect, it is how to end a decade, and he does it so well, that is the biggest reason without that shot it would've lost all magic, or and of course the last shot from the first movie.
Other then that i haven't much more to say, the money shot was the ending with Emilio and that was how I truly got pulled together and how the ending fitted perfect to a decade of hockey, goo all Ducks fly away now, and thrive to find another place, cool edition because of ending...!!!
The Wager (2007)
It doesn't need to have much plot!!!
Now I am not a Christian, I am actually a Buddhist, but this movie isn't that bad as you might think, the story itself is without much deepness, but it doesn't need any deepness. It isn't even that long, and it doesn't really have any huge point in the story where it all changes, it is about the faith of the lost, the faith that must be gained ones more, through a lot of pain, faith give you power, that is what this movie is actually about. About the falling of the kind that trusts in the thing they believe, and the endless beginning of the start of trusting and believing in what you long ago lost. Randy Travis, well what can be said about him, I am actually not a Randy Travis fan if I have to be honest, it isn't because he haven't preformed anything good, it is just that it isn't what I normally follow so I was skeptic about seeing a movie with him. I jumped onto a ticket one of my girl friends had, and saw it with her, the movie didn't change me, but it made me believe that sometimes people just need to believe to hold onto hope, to have faith, and in this movie Randy Travis does just what is needed, he plays this movie really good, I couldn't see anyone else than him playing it, so with saying that he did a good job with this movie, it made me care, even though I am a Buddhist I cared. The soundtrack of the movie isn't that big but for what it is, it surely isn't flawless, but it does have a lot of good tracks on it, and does sets the mood of the movie, even the little turning point where Randy Travis ends up praying, that song was fitting perfectly. The effects of the movie isn't anything to yell about, but this isn't a movie that needs them at all, there are weird flashbacks and other stuff, it doesn't need to be there nevertheless it makes the movie more in debt and you care a little more than normal. I won't argue with the rating, I will put my rating at 8, this reason is that if you see through all the flaws and the little plot line it isn't bad, it has what it needs, it wasn't a big movie and it didn't take long, but it in the end didn't need to, the movie is a perfectly fitted more and does what it does, I will end with this single quote I myself chose to write.
We humans need to have faith to believe, to live we must have something to hold on to, It could be anything, but it all starts with trusting.
Stakeout (1987)
Stakeout = Øjne I Natten (Danish Title)
Stakeout is a classic; it has a lot of funny moments, enough action to at least get you a little going, and a perfect but simple love story.
Story 9/10 The story is actually simple for an 80es movie, but it does just what is always needed to get a lot of peers to look it up, you will love the small subtle wits, the overall love that is shared between the two, the story goes a little like this. A evil old friend of Maria (Madeleine Stowe)has just escaped prison, his goal is of course to reach her, 4 cops are set on a rather long stakeout, we happen to see all 4 cops but the story revolves more around Bill (Emilio Estevez)and Chris (Richard Dreyfuss) in the start it seems like it is going to be a rather boring stakeout, the girl doesn't even seem to be very pretty in the description of the police records, as many 80es movies, actually as a lot of movies the girl is of course a rather hot babe, and this movie is no exception, Chris who has just been dumped falls head over heels for this girl, hotter then hot, and from there on Chris have to protect his identity so that Maria don't know who he really is, yet this is tougher then he of course realizes, the rest you will need to find out for yourself.
Actors: 9/10 We got a mix of a lot of good actors, the most noticeable is of course Emilio Estevez, Richard Dreyfuss, Madeleine Stowe and Aidan Quinn, this movie doesn't have a big cast, and the rest of the actors are really not the ones catching your eyes, since they don't really have much to the story, but some lines from the other actors are fun enough to get you going. If you are a fan of either of these 4 fine actors I suggest picking this movie up while it is still in some lending stores, I just bought it from an online store and felt that old rush, first time I saw it I was ten years old, I know what many are going to say, this is not a movie for a ten year old and it isn't I can go with it, but as ten I loved it anyway, it still rocks just as it did back then.
Soundtrack 9/10 I loved the soundtrack, there aren't many numbers in this movie, but the ones that are perfect for the movie, especially the end theme Is It Love, I thought that theme was fitting like moth to a flame. I wouldn't buy the soundtrack just for the numbers there are on this soundtrack but defiantly would go to a store looking for some of the songs. Mr, Mister would be the first I would sort out in a store just for the heck of it, I couldn't find his albums though but that is of course simple cause his carrier was in the 80es and some in the 90es not the 20es, but if you find some I would buy it, believe me some are worth
Special Effects N/A I know this is an action movie but it doesn't really have any special effects, at least not something you would notice, but the ones there are does add a little to the movie, but in my appointing this movie doesn't really not it at all anyways, the comedy and love is enough to hold this movie even for such small flaws, but other then that nothing
Overall 9/10 Everything is perfect, I could take the count down to 8/10 for the special effects but that doesn't really would be fair at all, I didn't even care for the special effects in the first way, so it shouldn't do any good raising a perfectly good movie down to a lower stage. All the way through this movie the mood has a good way of proving something not many movies can do, even if this movie is a lot like any other movie this one does it better, just my thoughts on this gem of a favorite movie.
------------------------- If you saw this movie I would not suggest seeing Another Stakeout it has its good moments but it is a boring sequel and it screws over a nearly perfect first movie, it is just filling and doesn't need to be there at all, the first had every potentials and don't need any sequel at all
Heppoko jikken animêshon excel saga (1999)
This is Awesome...!!!
I normally don't like all that Japanese humor, I mean I love animes and what not, but I like them more serious, with that said I loved this series so much, it is stepping insanity but does it with a humor not seen that much in Japanese animes, maybe it resembles a little but this series is nothing like any other. I normally have a hard time laughing at such jokes yet Rikudou Koushi have made this series to one of my favorite, you see all kinda of types, you probably have seen a lot like them before but not quite as weird as these. Excel who is madly crazy in love with her Lord Ilpalazzo who doesn't really care at all, Excel also have a tendency to die easily, she is a hard worker and always working, but she isn't really that good at anything, Hyatt who has a habit of dying also, she is the junior officer of the Across, her personality is weirdly enough, Lord Ilpalazzo who is the leader of Across who wants to take over the world in order to restore things. The three neighbours next to Excel who are always complaining, the fat one doesn't talk with sounds making it more weird, Rikdo Koshi is my favorite not really prior to the story yet the manga artist of Excel Saga who always appears somewhere in the series, in the first episode it is actually Excel's job to kill him, but by doing so she kills herself, really cool, there are many more but these catches me the most. Overall this is a story no one should miss, it is so overall sickened and cool, just hope that your insanity is enough to withstand this anime shocker it is all worth everything to pick this little piece up, I promise you even how you laugh or what you laugh at you wont be able to not laugh just one big time in this series, it is irresistible.
I Koshi Rikdo hereby give my permission to make the Excel Saga into a B movie action flick
Wanna watch it???
Pigen og greven (1966)
Pigen Og Greven...
I am danish so I actually grew up seeing these movies, I don't mean that i was alive when they were released but I see them because they are the reason danish movies back in the days were so popular.
Almost every last old danish movies has this weird calm mood, they are mostly for families to see, and if they were made for that then this movie is a great one.
Story 9/10 Story lines for old danish movies are not really that important only if it is a movie like Olsen Banden or something like that, for the most reason the story is very alike but i think that is what makes these old gems so awesome, and like the others the story for this movie is a little thin but that is what made this a good movie, and if you can pull that off then you are really good at it.
Actors 10/10 This movie is filled with the greatest actor in Denmark, the most don't live anymore but they are still better then the new ones in Denmark, of course my favorite is of course the old good Dirch Passer, he did something in every his movie that made everyone love it, he does the same thing in this movie, everyone else are perfect fitted to the movie, it is a normal movie but awesome...
Special Effects N/A No....
Music 8/10 Well the music in these old movies have always been sung by the actors and usually it wasn't really bad at all, I liked most the song sung from Daimi at the beginning, She had a cute voice back in the days, others singing is well I most say i don't remember but there are 3 songs or something in this movie the rest is old tunes from days of the past, this is great and not bad at all...
Overall 9/10 Don't say bad things about these old story lines they are thin that was the purpose of the story, like them for the humor and the family catching joy, this is movies made for families and I know for an fact that they work very well, well i will end with saying, buy it, i promise you it is actually worth it, oh it is danish of course so for you that aren't danish you wont like it, i don't think so though, i loved it.
Hook (1991)
Steven Spielberg Did It...
I have found out why, everyone in IMDb hates this movie, the reason is that they are idiots and have lost all sign of imagination, i was 15 when i first saw this movie it shoved me off my feet's. Hook is a Peter Pan story, and i think the reason it became as good as i believe it is, is simply because of imagination and of course robin Williams, but now to my ratings.
Story 10/10 Right from the start you can see this is a fantasy movie, you did know that but what you didn't know is that this fantasy movie is much greater then many out there. We meet Peter Banning who is afraid of flying, of course this is the guy who was born as Peter Pan because of a mistake as a child. He is never considered by his kids, and do not have time for them at all, when Peter gets home to his kids granny Wendy, the fantasy slowly begins to start, here Peter meets his old friend Tinkerbell, at first he doesn't believe it of course because he forgot it. A letter from Captain Hook is placed on the door with a large knife saying he took his kids, this is where the true fantasy begins when Peter takes back to Never Neverland and has to prove to his kids that he loves them, and has to prove to himself that he used to be Peter Pan the boy who never became old. This story is worth everything, of course it has its bad moments but that is easy to overlook, because the story sucks you in.
Actors: 10/10 Everyone plays a really good part, everyone lightens the mood, but the one who does the best is of course Robin Williams who didn't like his way of playing Peter Pan, Dustin Hoffman is of course the next best, i don't think anyone else could have played a better part as Captain Hook then Dustin Hoffman, and of course Julia Roberts were perfect as Tinkerbell, i don't like the many movies she have starred in but she did this great, all in all the actors sets the mood just right, to an hard movie as this is.
Music: 10/10 Fantasy music all the way, this is your typical music from Steven but the music from him have always been welcomed into the movie collection family, it does a great turn in making the movie more amazing and more enjoyable, and if that isn't something great then i don't know what is, i personally love the ending in the movie, it is normal of a Steven Spielberg, love it, or at least try.
Special Effects: 9/10 The special effects are from early on so not much should be expected, but in the other it is expected because it is a fantasy. But it is actually really good for its age, you cant say that they didn't do a great job back then, it is hard enough as it is, so a great work for an old movie, for an old decade, an fantasy just needs Special Effects and it surely gives good effects for a good price, in a movie.
Overall: 10/10 Everything is great, the people hating this movie, well they have lost their imagination, the have lost that little thing that should trigger a person, Steven did a great job, the wrong people just saw it. I love this movie and i know there are many millions who did also, and the many who never saw it, well bad for them. This movie is a best buy no matter what it costs it should be bought, i wouldn't want anything better then this anyway, and believe i am a movie fan i know what good movie is, and what bad movie is.
Please don't destroy other with your bad comments because we all know, that you just didn't have that magical imagination. Hook is great, hook is wonderful and shouldn't be let down.
Great job Steven...
The Quest (1996)
Better then I thought
I am not a Van Damme fan, i like some of his movies, and i hate others, i have seen my fair share of Fighting movies in my life. In the end i got really tired of it, so when i was told that there had been a new Van damme movie i quickly thought that this movie was going to be the same. I didn't know it was Van Damme that was the director and what not, i thank god i didn't know that. If i did i surely would never have seen it Van Damme made a story so likable, so interesting, i have actually seen this movie a lot of times, more then i normally do. He knew what everyone wanted, he knew what i wanted, this is an adventure for the family. Van Damme plays Chris Dubois a man living with a group of children in new york, suddenly he is forced to leave from new york, and right from there he meets the funny and witty man Edgar Dobbs (Roger Morre) the story is a little easy to figure out at sometimes, but it is really enjoyable.
"Bless Their Souls"
Tales of the Abyss (2005)
Tales Of The Abyss (The Best Namco Ever Offered)
Story 10/10 Right from the start when Luke a replica of Asch is thrown into the Valley of Tataroo with a young woman named Tear a story unlike other unfolds, a legend. Everything in this story is just beautiful, and filled with hope and joy, you have a large and lovable cast. But in the end it all comes down to Tear and Luke, I remember always the last thing Tear said before Luke vanished "I Love You" Tear is a strong and proud soldier so when she does i actually shed some tears. Everything in this game should be seen and cherished yet the ending is surely the best in the game. You are going to want to finish all in the game, it only takes about 2-3 hours for the story to truly begin to unfold and believe when it does it goes on with a huge bang.
Gameplay 10/10 There is a lot of things to do in this game it is filled with a lot of extras even without the main story it can hold on for about 10-20 hours of more game play, and since the Main story takes about 40-60 hours to beat it is incredible, the battles are very likable, and there are many mini games. The world of TOA is huge there are many places to have fun in and many places to run around in, and there is also which i personally like a huge big vast world map you can fully interact around, with, many weird places. The story is what holds this game up from all standards but the game play is as good as the story so you wont feel left out at all.
Music/Sound 10/10 You can go wrong with music from Tales Of sometimes it may be a little boring but for the most it is really good at setting the mood for a great big game, I personally love the opening from Bump Of Chicken - Karma it sets the mood many times and is just perfect for this strong game. The voices from the actors are a lot more then you would ask for in a role playing game, everyone is likable even Mieu the little THING. The ending music in the game is also very good, not as good as the opening but still a lot good.
Graphics 9/10 The Graphics are also really good many times, sometimes it may not look as awesome but when you see other places again it all will make up for the lack of graphics in other places. TOA is filled with Anime like earlier games and that does a lot the anime is with a little 3d and it all are just really good at setting the story to use.
Score 10/10 I gave this game 10/10 because it is worth every last penny you got and every last time you have, don't miss this game. I promise you that you will be surprised by how great it really is. Love it don't sell it, play it when you are down or happy either way it will just touch you like no other you have seen.
"Why are you here?" "This place has a nice view of hod...and also i promised one" (Crying)...
