Alice, Darling (2022)
Advocate!!!
As a mental health counselor who sees a lot of domestic and family abuse and violence, I thought this was a beautiful tribute to the empowerment and bravery of someone caught up in this kind of situation. Anna Kendrick did a wonderful job, as did her co-stars. Not in your face or over-dramatic, but realistic. However, it would have been even better if there was a strong, knowledgeable male advocate character. Abuse has no gender, race or socio-economic boundary. And it is not just physical or sexual. Support is out there!! It breaks my heart that the burden of proof is on the victim, not the perpetrator. This is NOT OK!!!! As the quote goes, "If you see (or hear) something, say something! Even as a mandatory reporter things get twisted but the more we speak up the better!
Don't Forget the Lyrics! (2022)
Like this for the most part...
... But I agree with other reviews that this seems way too staged. The "audience" seems to be the same audience for every episode, and Niecy's outfits change very little, like they filmed all episodes in 24 hours. Hence, Niecy's gravelly voice. Good song variety though.
The Woman in the Window (2021)
Has it's moments
Good cast, but trying a bit too hard to replicate a good Hitchcock film.
