Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023)

Ranveer got his wish fulfilled

This movie was for Ranveer to fulfill his wishes to be a lady. He wore weird girlish dresses, danced on dola re dola and even wore a bra. His character is too cringy , only Rani laughs on his jokes and no one else.

The story of this movie is very bad. Old people kissing for no reason and no one talks about this serious issue, everyone just forgets. Vulgar kissing scenes and love story which is unrelatable.

Giving 2 star only because some of the issues in Dhanlaxmi house were true and very serious issues like oppression of women, mother stopping a son to develop relationship with his father, forceful marriage, body shaming and not letting women follow their dreams so that is why increasing 1 star but this is just 10% part of the movie. If the movie was centered around this topic then it would have been a good watch of 1-1.5 hours. The first hour of the movie is very bad and should have been completely edited out. The songs are long and very annoying, not good at all.

I do not recommend this movie to anyone. Really feel sorry for people who watched this in cinema.

The Promise (2017)

Weakest of All

I've been watching all the movies of this writer after I watched home for rent. The other two movies I watched were ok but this one was the weakest.

The story is pretty lame that a girl commit suicide because the economy has gone down, they feel there is no reason to live and her father beats her. The second girl could not do the same even after the promise. I think she was very smart. Nonetheless Now 20 years later she has come to haunt her.

First of all , such a big incident happened in your life and you decide to go to that same building with your daughter who starts to wander around alone in the whole building. This is not real, no one does that.

It is very clear from the beginning that it is her friends ghost but the mother takes her time to realise that and even after knowing she doesn't do much except talking to ghosts mother and taking that innocent kid to talk to the ghost and request her to leave the daughter alone which she had already made clear that she won't.

You know that your daughter life is in danger and she is going to die on Saturday , despite knowing this she leaves her alone in the hospital with the nurse and guess what she runs away from the hospital and goes to the building. If you know something like this you will stay with your daughter the whole time or even hire 10 people to not let her go out of sight.

She tries so many times to shoot herself but the gun doesn't work and on her daughter it shoots by itself what a lame and annoying writing.

There are some scenes which start to build up and you feel that its gonna scare you but at the end nothing happens. You don't see the ghost clearly at all. Its like a ghost movie without the ghost, you are just being shown the feeling that she is there and moving things but you never see the ghost.

For this lame story, I believe the ending is a bit realistic. Of course its not a happy one. When a ghost seeks out for revenge , they hurt you the most by hurting the people you love.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.

Home for Rent (2023)

A good horror movie with some flaws

First of all, let me give you a straight review that this is a good horror movie. A must watch. Better than a lot of recent horror flicks from Hollywood like evil dead and insidious.

The story is good, they do not leave you hanging to figure it out on your own, everything is explained and answered in the movie itself.

The acting is very good and the thrilling moments keep you engaged throughout the movie.

The only flaws I would like to mention have some spoiler, the wife is shown very smart. She figures out everything so quickly but still decides to play dedective for so long instead of taking any action. She is as much responsible for the end we get, if she would have taken any action or involved police as soon as aunt phorn was disappeared she would have been able to save her.

Secondly if it was that easy for ratree to convert aunt phorn into her cult then why she didn't do that with ning or kwin. So these are some loopholes. Apart from that it's a good movie.

Adhura (2023)

Predictable

I was rooting for the character Supriya to die because I could see that lady was crazy and they showed it at the end to make season 2. I hope they do not make season 2 as this was pretty predictable story. Only few horror scenes were good apart from that the acting is the most horrible you will ever see. The twist at the end was good, I did predict that as well but it was well written. The agenda is once again included in this series if you know what I am talking about. I would recommend to only watch if you have nothing else to do. Once again, I will talk about the character Supriya, So lame logics were given by her and stupid explanations. The girl on the stairs get pulled and choked and she totally forgets about it and is cool. Says nothing to anyone that she was about to die, she is fine with it. The only teacher who found the body was a sane person who cracked the whole story quickly and explained it to Adhi and the audience in simple words.

Insidious: The Red Door (2023)

Watch this at Home

There is nothing special about this movie storyline that you are going to miss so I highly advise you to watch this at home when it comes out online because you will be highly disappointed just like I was. My wife and I watched first two parts again before planning to go for this one and we were very excited. However, I didn't like the trailer and had low hopes because part 3 and part 4 were not that good and I actually think that lambert story ended pretty well in part 2 so there was no need to make another part on them. This movie is highly disappointing and pointless. After all the characters went through , the wife divorces the husband. And the kid he saved has so much of attitude and hates his father. Its all messed up, right. Cali who was always left alone by the mother in first two part is only seen once in this movie so the director also forgot about her. The little brother also doesn't have much screen time. The movie focuses on Dalton and josh relationship which is not going well. There are only few jumpscares and the first jumpscare comes very late in the movie when its almost 40 mins in the movie. The movie is only mysterious for the characters and not for the audience because we already know what happened with them so it is really pointless that only until the end they remember what happened with them and this is no surprise for the audience. Story of josh father was also useless, there was nothing special about it and why would he haunt him and try to kill him , this is so stupid. I thought at the end they will get the courage to face their demon and fight it but once again they were just easily running away from it. And in the end, Dalton cowardly left his father holding the door all by himself and the end reveals that it is only because of the stupid red door painting that this all came back to haunt them so what he does is just paint it black to close the door, that's it and the movie ends . Wasted my money on this boring and cash grab movie made by the makers.

Katrina look alike girl chose wrong movie to start her career. Everyone acting is horrible , Mimoh cannot act at all. The girl veronica and the delivery boy gradually improved in acting when the movie reached the midpoint. 3 people having what kind of party was stupid. They made some stupid decisions. The climax is horrible and unbelievable. It had some fake cgi shot as well and overall movie had a stupid plot. My recommendation is to skip this movie and dont waste your time. It is not worth your time. Their are some unbearable and unnecessary songs as well in the movie. THere is one senior actor in the role of a guard, I was hoping that he might have a major part in turning the situation but I was wrong.

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

Evil Dead Unleashed by A Stupid Teenager who destroys his whole Family

First of All, I must say that Alyssa deserves appreciation for her work . She acted very well and looked very scary.

It would have been a perfect horror movie for me if the characters were not so dumb. The way the evil gets unleashed is so stupid, they could have made it more logical. A teenage kid , grabs a horrifying book with the vinyl just besides a tomb with so many cross around it. Even after looking at the images, he dares to play those vinyl record. The mother who just scolded her kids not to use lift after an earthquake, takes the lift at night to go somewhere! The priest who recorded that dumb audio could not say that immediately that there is no way to stop it and just run. There are so many dumb and stupid actions performed by the characters. Apart from that, it was a fine movie. The horror element is not upto the level of Conjuring Part 1 but still not bad. It was actually good but the end scene felt like I was playing or watching resident evil or a video game.

Ending Could Have Been Better

Its one of the best movies I have ever watched and will remain in my collection forever. The story is emotional & funny. At the end, your eyes will drop tears for sure. I would recommend this movie to everyone.

The only issue with the movie is that the young Sumi and the Old Sumi are totally two different person. As a young person, she was so involved with the Werewolf boy. She was so much concerned about him, she kept crying when leaving the place but as an old lady, there is no emotion. She left him and forgot about him for 47 years, how? She could have come back to him so this was very unfair to the boy. He got screwed.

The better ending would have been that she tried to adjust in the new city, even tried marriage but it did not work as she could not forget the boy so she decided to come back to this house and finally found him when she was still young and they lived happily with each other. For me, this will be the only ending I would like to remember as the ending decided by the maker does not make sense.

The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022)

Swaad Aa Gaya Soneya!!!! - Now we need a sequel, prequel and season - Better than RRR and KGF

This movie is a masterpiece and will remain one of the best in Pakistani Cinema. The movie is in Punjabi and thankfully it had good subtitles as well. The story, the direction, the acting, the location is just phenomenal. Marvel wasted the potential of Fawad Khan in Miss Marvel. His dialogue delivery, action scenes and speeches in the movie are absolutely amazing. Maula Jatt is not a superhero but the portrayal of character makes him a super hero who will fight against injustice and take his revenge. You will see a lot of good actors and familiar faces in this movie. Mahira and Umaima do not have much scenes as compared to other cast but they were still very good in their role. Gohar Rasheed was so scary and played his role the best. This movie is on a Hollywood level. Nothing larger than life like RRR and KGF. Pure realistic action. Next person to talk about is Hamza Ali Abbasi. He outdid himself. The best character in the movie, his dialogues are too good that you will remember them, His action scenes are great. All the characters are just so good that you would want them to keep on going. When it reached the intermission, I was sad that I have already watched half off the movie. C'mon Bilal Lashari, give us a prequel, sequel and seasons of Maula Jatt. We are up for it. I wanted to watch more of them and did not want any character to die. The VFX was so real unlike recent bollywood movies. The film is filled with violent scenes and too much blood shown. Direction was top level apart from the final blow which had a little impact because of the poor shot/camera angle.

In short, don't wait to watch this on TV. Go To theatres if you like action movies with real acting. The recent movies in Pakistani cinema were horrible. I did not like London nahin jaunga but this one is Paisa Vasool. Don't expect to see songs and dancing. This is a pure action movie from start to finish.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (2020 Video Game)

Not better than Odyssey

This one is actually a let down. I could not complete this game. Odyssey was my favorite, played it for many months, the character, gameplay and story was great but in AC Valhalla they removed a lot of good features. The story is also not that great , even after playing it for so many hours, I could not connect and started to feel bore with this game. In the end, I watched the story on Youtube and saved myself a lot of time. The other parts of this series were much better but this one is a total let down. I hope they uplift the game once again as AC valhalla is not my favorite in the AC series.

The Call (2020)

Could have been 10 if not for the post credits scene

The story is complicated but watch this as a movie cause this has nothing to do with reality. The actresses have done a great job in their roles and its a great thriller movie. I did not read other reviews before but if you are planning to watch, stop the movie as soon as it ends. Do not watch the post credits scene as that will ruin it over there.

Ms. Marvel (2022)

Giving 8 because its Kamala Khan our Pakistani Super Hero

Alright to be honest, Kamala Khan story is great in the video game "Avengers". The story shown in this series is boring and inconsistent. Too much potential but limited episodes must have cut down a lot from it.

Iman is great, the other actors too but it is the origin story which is not extra ordinary. She can be the next Spider Man in the upcoming projects.

The series show 70% of overseas Pakistan Muslim Culture and 30% of Indian Culture which we desi can relate to very well and it is fun to watch. Showing Superhero fights happening in Karachi was cool.

The villain Nimra has played her role very well but the character was cut down very soon. Kamala mother also acted good. Mehwish Hayat looked good as Aisha but her role is so average. She is referred by her mother to be cursed and a women who they are not supposed to talk about but in the episode 5 it is shown that she died off so many years ago when her mother was not even born then how can she say such words about her.

Speaking of Episode 5 which was related to the partition was super boring. There was so much that could have been shown but they did not want to disappoint the Indian fans so they put 100% blame on to the British. Fawad Khan was wasted here. He has so much potential but they gave him a role of a handicap person with nothing much from his side.

Pakistani Music is the best and now the whole world knows it. The culture shown here is also good so as a desi person I am giving it 8 but for other people this is probably a 5 or 6.

Everyone has done bad acting in this movie especially Ahsan Khan. He does not look real at all. It is so fake. The story is also not good, everyone is deceiving each other and the climax had no impact. Flop Movie, just a waste of time.

Marvel's Avengers (2020 Video Game)

Play it for the Story

The story of this game is Excellent and interesting. Kamala is great and I also enjoyed a lot playing with Thor. The final mission is satisfying which lets you play with each hero their part. Really looking forward to a sequel or a dlc.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)

'WHAT IF' Had a Better Story

As mentioned in my subject, What IF series had a brilliant story for Doctor Strange. It had emotions as well. In this movie you wont get emotional because Wanda motive is very stupid. How did the imaginative kids get real in other universe. Vision was a machine so who is the father? She is dreamwalking and able to see/interact with them then why does she need to replace their mother? And taking Chavez powers so that she can jump from one multiverse to other so that she can treat the kids when they are sick is also stupid.

Speaking of Chavez, nothing special about her. Just running around and at the end it was expected that she will control her powers just like every other superhero movie.

The piano fight scene was also rubbish and the damned soul gave the vibes of Harry Potter.

The action scenes are also not that impressive. One person destroyed the whole Kamar Taj makes them look like a joke. Thanos and other villians are still believable but Scarlet Witch is not. One sided fights from start till end. The other heroes were introduced to die a horrible and quick death is a joke as well.

The climax should have happened in the start. What was she thinking that she would replace the mother and kids would love her. She did not even consider going to any other multiverse. The story is bad. I agree with other review over here that few scenes were very similar to Loki.

Marvel stories have gone down, even SpiderMan NWH had a stupid plot , it was predictable and the ending was very lame. Yes I did not like Spiderman as well. The movie worked because it had Nostalgic moments otherwise its story was also based on the stupidity of the hero.

Unlike Spiderman, Doctor Strange does not have any nostalgic moments to lift it up so thankfully I did not waste my money to watch it in theatre. I waited for the online release and would not watch it again.

Aashram (2020–2024)

Season 2 is the Best

Season 1 - Slow and boring initially. But the beginning scene of the season keeps you hooked till the end to know what happened with Pammi. The last few episodes are really very good.

Season 2: It is overall the best one. The story develops really well. All the actors did good. But the police guys is just so useless.

Season 3: A total waste of time. It has nothing to do with the main story. They added new useless characters just to kill them off. The Komal story was bad, the scene where she goes to reporter and they wanted her to act was so so bad. Bobby acted well in this season but the story is really bad. A Total let down. If you want to start watching this series then skip season 3 and directly jump to season 4.

My Soul to Keep (2019)

Good ONe!

It has a brilliant story. But there are lot of unanswered questions.

Overall, the movie starts very slow and you would wonder if this is really a horror movie; but it picksup well by the end. It is really creepy and captures a good horror atmosphere. The ending was really good which will have an impact on the viewers.

Below are the questions which made me confused:

the first one is the most important one, was the monster real?

How did the stone get in the basement and the ball comes back?

What was Hillary doing there and she leaves her cross for him?

At the end, we hear the boy speaking to Sam on the radio, so was his soul running away from the monster and he is trapped somewhere?

Could have been a good sequel story if the last question was a yes.

Suicide Saga with Lame Story

It has a very stupid story.

Sudhir uncle out of embarrassment kills himself. The girl saw her father beat him a day before, and everyone blames her for lying. Even though it destroys her childhood, she leaves them when she becomes an adult. Everyone else knows the truth but they don't tell her and let her fall deep into depression.

They all reveal the truth to Monty about his father suicide and he also kills himself and Boman Irani gets blamed for his suicide.

On the other hand, the main plot is revealed that her mother wished to die and requested her husband to kill her and he kills her.... It cant be more stupid than this, right? No one gets benefit from her death. They are in deep financial crisis, if she was to get some insurance money that would make sense but she is paralyzed and dont want her husband to get more burdened with responsibility.

The husband is having affair and she is ok with it. He says that he loves her a lot but goes for dinner at his girlfriend house.

They also promoted gay factor in this season. They are fine with it that his son is gay and wants to go abroad. There is a gay kissing scene as well.

& What the hell is Manraj Uncle doing? He walks naked on Nikki and is continuously harassing her and does whatever he wants.

Very stupid story. Unbelievable.

Mai (2022– )

ABOSLUTELY AMAZING!!!!

This is one gripping story. Amazing acting by Sakshi Tanwar. You get so involved in the character that you want justice for her daughter yourself. Thankfully She is shown very smart in this series unlike others where the main character is dumb. Her husband is dumb though and I really hate him. They should have closed the story in season 1 instead of taking it to the next season.

Spoilers: Keshav was such a weak link, dont understand why Sheel let him go. And If Neelum was gone then the SPF had Keshav to continue the case, dont know what happened there so this one is a plothole.

Jalsa (2022)

Watchable but No Proper Ending

The story is good and interesting. All the actors have done great job, all of them acted well according to their role. The kid Ayush was phenomenal. The ending is not good, the screenplay is slow, lot of slow motion scenes, the coincidence of police men getting involved was really lame, didnt add much , the most disappointing thing was the end. If they would have added a confrontation dialogues between Vidya and SHefali that would have been great but they ended without showing anything, they let the viewers guess on their own as to what happened between them and after Vidya's video.

Rudra: The Edge of Darkness (2022)

Watchable & Good Acting By Raashi

I dont know why Ajay is whispering in this season, I mean its really difficult to understand his dialogues while the other cast is easily understandable. I had to read the subtitles to understand what Ajay is saying. Anyhow, the season is fine, I have heard its a copy paste so it was gonna be good. Few of the episodes were not interesting. The soldier one was very lame at the end. Esha Deol does not look good in this, her acting is also not that great. Rest of the cast was good especially Raashi Khanna. Most of the scenes were intelligently played out because thankfully Ajay was not shown dumb.

Rajiv would report Rudra every single time but does not talk about Aaliya harassing them , breaking and entering everywhere. The end is good and looking forward to the next season.

Very predictable since the beginning of the season. All the easy clues are ignored by Mithun Da. The season keeps you engaged and is not boring but the story is very predictable and stupid at times. Average series, nothing special.

The Fame Game (2022)

Messed Up Ending - Only Madhuri Stands Out

There are lot of flaws in this one. It was so engaging in the first few episodes but at the end it all went down. Talking about the acting first, Madhuri is so brilliant. Manav, the superstar actor also stands out. Poor acting by the police lady and Madhuri's daughter. They were too bad. Even her police department were not taking her seriously neither did we.

In the birth certificate of the orphan boy, the name written of mother is "A. A" so I was excited about this story but they denied it in the DNA report but I still see some connection of him. But still it was a wasted character, he is inside the house , roaming around, made out with the superstar's daughter and murders someone. Still sad to see that no one even talks about Billy's murder till the end.

The end is the biggest problem, Anamika lost everything to be honest in this stupid plan. Why would she choose her daughter in this , she was very unstable since the beginning. She always trusted Manish and the final plan of eloping with him would have made sense but thats not the case. It was all the fame game of getting success in the movie and all failed due to a pathetic child she had. Homosexuality is being promoted in this movie and thats also a really negative point. Gay kissing was really not needed. Not interested to watch the second season anymore.

Love Hostel (2022)

Only Trailer was good

This movie is a complete waste of time. The trailer looked so good but in actual it is the worst movie of this year. Only the looks of Bobby Deol is good but he did not act and does not have much dialogues. He just shoots everyone like Bob Biswas and no one catches him. The guy literally killed more than 50 people just to catch the couple and always missed the shot but took headshots of literally everyone else. The dialogues are puzzling as they are talking about something that the audience does not have any clue about. You will keep guessing what they are talking about as the scenes are not shot well, the story of bobby is also unclear till the end he speaks but you wont understand that because of his Hariyanvi accent. The police is useless. The couple is also very dumb. They have a suitcase full of cash and they are not leaving the city, booking tickets to get away from the guy, instead they keep their phones on and stay in a hotel. Even at the end , director wants you to guess what happened at the girls house , the father had the gun on dadi and everything in control then how come the young brother comes and kills them. Poor vikrant again got shot in the head just like mirzapur. Stay away from this movie.

Gehraiyaan (2022)

Above Expectations

The trailer was so bad that I decided not to watch this movie but since I have Amazon subscription, my wife played the movie and I was surprised that this movie was engaging. It is different than what it was shown in the trailer. It does not promote cheating, it shows what cheating and lying can get you into so much trouble. The Karma always gets you. The last few minutes were very interesting. However the ending was predictable. Dipika acted very well but the other actors were not that good.
