Moccasin Flats (2003)
An incredible production
I caught the show late one night on APTN totally by accident - my finger slipped on the remote. 30 seconds later I was watching with my mouth open. Quite frankly this show is incredible, at least part because it's true.
Yes, it's brutal. Yes, the language is rough (I've lost count of how many times I've heard the "F" word). Yes, there's been some interesting love scenes that you wouldn't want a 10 year old to see.
So what - it's a fantastic show. It's the sort of TV that Hollywood is too scared to make. Make some time to visit Moccasin Flats. Love it or hate it, it's one powerful show.
Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning (2005)
Possibly the best fan film
Hey, I'm giving this a ten. I know some will disagree with me, but consider these points: Very few mainstream movies are made for less than $1,000,000.00 US.
Most mainstream movies are made by committee - and tend to be as bland as pablum.
This movie cost less than $20,000.00 US to make and doesn't look like a committee was involved (it's definitely not bland). The movie has it's faults - the fight scenes were rough, some of the plotting was touchy, and the acting wasn't perfect.
So what - it's great fun, and it's also the first time that I sat through an entire movie in another language - I've never had the patience to put up with sub-titles before.
When you compare it to most of the Studio Movies that have come out in the last 10-20 years, it beats them hands down. So if you haven't seen it, do so.
