Reacher (2022– )
5/10
Disappointing second series..
22 December 2023
I really enjoyed the first series of Reacher and looked forward the the new series after waiting so long. After watching the first three episodes available I'm pretty disappointed and not sure whether I'll stick with it. In the first series Jack was a lone wolf, whereas in this he is part of a team which includes two women and another man. For one thing I don't really find the rest of the team very likeable at all, especially the two women. Serinda Swan is the worst and her eyebrows always distract me, although I managed to enjoy the series Breakout Kings despite her. The fact she is a love interest is also off-putting and unconvincing. The storyline isn't that gripping or interesting, although it is obviously based on one of the books. Apparently someone said this is the only story where he is part of a team, so perhaps if they'd chosen another book to film I'd have enjoyed it more. I will see if it improves, but I'm not holding my breath.

If only it had an ending!!
13 December 2023
I will keep it short. The film started well, and became quite intriguing, but then it just finished. I don't expect films to wrap everything up in a nice neat bow, but so many films these days have no ending at all. Some you can guess what happens next, but others leave you with no clue. I think it is just down to sheer laziness. The writers of the book/film basically can't think of an ending so just cop out and leave it to the readers/viewers. Apparently my short review needs to be longer so I will just say I was obviously disappointed with the film and won't ever bother watching it again. Typically for films I don't rate much, the critics seem to think it's great.

Good fun!!
17 November 2022
Just watched this series over a couple of weeks and really quite enjoyed it for what it is. It's a bit like Scooby Doo really. Murders occur one by one and you are guessing who it could be. Don't take it seriously at all and it's a fun whodunnit. The setting of the island was good and added to the creepy atmosphere. It did keep you guessing and the ending was a surprise, whether you thought it plausible or not. Don't take it too seriously and it's enjoyable escapism. Apparently my review is too short so I'll have to continue! Acting abilities varied, but the leads were good and they all looked suitably terrified when necessary.

The Last Ship (2014–2018)

Entertaining escapism.
17 November 2022
Just recently watched all the seasons of The Last Ship with my husband. Many on here moan about some things not being realistic and far fetched, but I really don't care. Don't take it so seriously!! It was entertaining, enjoyable and had plenty of action. I like watching all different genres, and enjoy them for different reasons. This was good escapism which is enjoyable at the moment when there is so much depressing news these days. I liked the cast and cared about the characters. I'm English and found the two English baddie character's cockney accents to be quite unconvincing, but I could get past that. Some seasons were better than others, but I was never bored and I enjoyed them all generally. Worth a watch!!

A rare gem.
6 November 2022
I just came across this film, now nearly twenty years old, by searching for wilderness films. I had never heard of it, but it sounded great and it really was!! Such a heartwarming, touching story. It was beautifully shot and the two leads were perfect, especially Annabella who hadn't acted before. Barry Pepper plays arrogant very well so it is all credit to him that I ended up liking his character a lot. He was excellent. I shed a few tears, and it stayed with me afterwards. It's a shame more people haven't seen this, as it is so much better than most films out there these days. It may not be a blockbuster, but everyone involved should be proud of this film.

Creepy and intriguing!
5 August 2022
I've just finished watching the whole ten episodes and I loved it!!

Even without the 'people' of the night it has a scary vibe, down to the fact they can't leave the town. The characters are all good and you care what happens to them. I didn't find it slow at all as you were getting to know the characters and how they came to be in the town and their back stories. Luckily there is going to be a season two or I'd be very upset!! If I'd have been able I would have binge watched all ten episodes in one go, I enjoyed it that much, even though it scared/creeped me out!! On a side note, the version of Que Sera Sera totally summed up the atmosphere of the series and the music played at the end of most episodes is really quite lovely! Worth staying with the credits just to listen to it.

Entertaining!!

I'm up to date at the moment after watching episode 8 of season 2. One thing that annoys me is why do the two young schoolgirls have to develop a same sex relationship? It adds nothing to the storyline and is just put in there because they are obsessed with ticking inclusivity boxes!! I like the two main characters and Ronald is a good villain. I don't think the actor playing Gerrie is very good as she generally looks like she is wondering how beautiful she looks in her close up!! She just seems to be in a pose most of the time. Just because she is transgender herself doesn't mean she's good at acting. There is not a great deal of reality in this programme, but that doesn't bother me as its escapist fun. Some people take it too seriously!!

Disappointing!!
13 February 2021
As westerns go it was just ok, as there wasn't really much of a story. I could easily summarise it in a few short lines. It doesn't compare favourably to films like The Searchers as in that film the story was far more involving, and you really felt like John Wayne was on a long, long journey. In this film it didn't really feel like they travelled 400 miles at all! The acting was good, but the story was lacklustre and had no impact. I wouldn't bother watching it again. Disappointing!

Pc season 2?
13 January 2021
I enjoyed season 1. In the first episode of season 2 I thought the incident where the police guy/detective was pinned to the wall by 'other' police officers was very clumsy and seemed totally out of place with what was going on!! It was there for obvious reasons and was as subtle as a sledgehammer!!!! I hope this was a one off. I watch this to be entertained, not to be lectured at. If they carry this theme on in future episodes I will stop watching.

It was ok.
2 October 2020
I decided to watch it mainly because of the travel aspect. I didn't think the relationship between the two main characters was realistic, although if I'm enjoying something I don't always find this necessary as I enjoy fantasy and escapism. I just wasn't enjoying this as much as I should have been. The description of this series describes it as hilarious, which does actually make me laugh! There was some mild humour, but hilarious it wasn't!! Maybe some couples who divorce, with plenty of money at their disposal have had a relationship like this, but I've never known any, and it wasn't quite light hearted enough for it not to matter. I'm not even sure I liked either of them very much. I liked Sophie Grabol's character much more than either of them. Still, it did keep me watching to see what was going to happen next, so I'm not surprised ratings are good.

Enjoyable!!!
5 October 2019
Well, some reviewers on here take everything so seriously!! Who goes to see a scary alligator film and expects it to be anything but entertaining??!! I don't care if it's unrealistic or has the odd plot holes, I got exactly what I expected from this film. It kept my attention, and I jumped a number of times. It did exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak!! I enjoyed it!!!!

Entertaining!!!
29 September 2019
Why do people try to bring politics into everything?? I watched this film to be entertained, and I was!! I enjoyed the mystery, the drama and the science fiction elements!!! It's far from being anywhere near the best film I've ever seen, but it was perfectly watchable!! Its a shame Michael C Hall was in a supporting role only, but I thought the main actor did a good job!!

Very funny!!!
27 September 2019
I've just recently watched this film for a second time, as it had been quite a while since I last saw it. I really enjoyed it, again!!! I can see why people compare it to the obvious Steve Martin film, but that's no bad thing and I can enjoy both these films without comparing them!! I had never looked at the reviews for this film on here until now, and I'm shocked at some of the terrible reviews! I do generally take notice of a majority of bad reviews on here for films etc and get put off watching them, but I may rethink that in future, as I dont agree with the many bad reviews about this film!!! If I had read the reviews for this film on here prior to watching it, I probably would have given it a miss, so I'm glad I didnt!!! I'll have to start watching more films with bad reviews on here, as I thought this film was hilarious!!!

Wonderful series!!! 10/10
28 April 2019
I have read all Gerald Durrell' Corfu books, and have seen the previous TV adaptations, and I love this series!! I am currently watching the final series and will miss it when it finishes!! Yes, the series diverts from the books with the romance between Mrs Durrell and Spiro etc but it maintains the humour and spirit of the books, and brings something extra!!! The people moaning about it not staying true to the book are a bit sad if you ask me!!
