Hotel Del Luna (2019)
Loved it except for one technical issue.
I love many Korean films. When I lived in D. C., the Korean embassy featured one Korean film a month at their Embassy. This film is a premier example of how they present a "soap". Slow, gentle development of the story line and characters. Very little crass and American in-your-face behavior. The President's wardrobe is worth a class on Korean stylishness. Reminded me of Audrey Hepburn. Anyway, my disappointment and almost sadness was that the studio (who ever was in charge of translation) chose not to translate the beautiful songs which gift boxed so many wonderful scenes. The use of melody could have been used solely, and that would have been acceptable, but since they used lyrics, I feel they were meant to add something substantial to the story, which we who are not fluent in the Korean language, sadly missed out.
Down a Dark Hall (2018)
I Beg to Differ
From the opening scenes, this movie emanated quality filming. The two main characters were extremely believable and showed great experience with their roles. The cinematography was way above average, especially for this genre of film. There was a real story, not just ghouls and goblins. The story line was creative and fresh. Each of the students brought their part across very well. The film was intriguing and entertaining. So, I thought the film was a very worthwhile cinematic endeavor. And, surprising, as I go into this genre with a lot of skepticism and challenge the credibility of the purported reality. I'd recommend this film.
The Bra (2018)
Absolute Delight
Now, this is a truly worthy film. Creative and spellbinding in it's ability to carry you along the search, without needing to explain using words. Well done, True Film Makers! The themed is focused perfectly without any sidebar distractions and useless banal "action". The main characters were honed nicely so you felt you knew them without any verbal explanation. The different episodes were creatively produced without a sense of repetition. Finally, an awesome ending authentic to the heart of the film. You find yourself immersed in the story as a sidekick to the main character. Worth every minute. I think this film is worthy to be in a film education class.
Vivarium (2019)
Sorry, not an "action" picture
Reading reviews only convinces me that unless the film is an "action" movie, it's "dull", "worthless", or "waste of my time". Really? What could be more a waste of time than a mindless, kill fest, fake car chase, and, usually, plotless 90 minutes. Vivarium contains a wealth of insight and subtle commentary on the lives of exactly the people who only like "fast phony muscle car or space ship" pictures. Please, if you only want basic non mind expanding entertainment go onto your phone and watch the 20 second wonders. And, no, I'm not going to ruin your chance to become more aware of real life and its myriad of challenges. I will only ask you to watch this type of film when you have matured.
Blood Moon (2014)
Well worth the watch
One of the top notch western films. Good character development. Scarier than a lot of this genre. There is a real story and a few twists that keep you interested.
